Okay, I'm just gonna say it.

Normally I'd be shipping the girls from the word go. And given the...interesting camera shots of Machu and Nyaan's first meeting, pretty much everything about the ED, and the fact that one of the writers is Yoji Enokido, who was also one of the main writers for Revolutionary Girl Utena, I'd be saying that the odds of us getting two Gundam shows in a row with lesbian MC couples is actually pretty high, and I'd strongly object to throwing a male protagonist into the mix to muck it up.

However, this time there is a caveat.

For one, Shuji turned out to be pretty endearing, given that he's like this funky space hobo anarchist with a giant robot in his garage who's consistently a chill weirdo. For another, with Hideaki Anno as the other writer, Kazuya Tsurumaki, directing, Studio Khara producing, and the mechs themselves designed by Ikuto Yamashita, there is a LOT of Evangelion in its DNA.

And we all know how ride or die I am for that Shinji/Asuka/Rei throuple.

So I'm staking my claim here. Give us what we should've gotten in Evangelion. Give us our giant mech polycule.

(If not, then Machu/Nyaan is my second choice)

Rereading some of my old wips and gosh dang it I like these a lot and feel like sharing.

This is from a Tabris/Alistair fic set just after Awakening. Everybody’s gotten a bit drunk after successfully defending Amaranthine and the Keep. Also Eamon’s been trying to persuade Alistair to marry someone more “suitable” than Tabris and Alistair is starting to realize that Eamon isn’t that great.

She humphed against his chest but settled back down, and suddenly Alistair's anger fizzled out. "You could marry me instead," she told him. "That'll piss him off and you'll be safe from the scheming."

He laughed. "Oh, he'd explode of apoplexy for certain. Wouldn't that be something to see!"

His laughter petered out when he realized in full what she'd proposed. (She'd proposed!) "Wait, did you mean that for real?"

"I don't fake ask people to marry me, Alistair."

Tears pricked the backs of his eyes and he swallowed in an attempt to keep his voice from breaking. "But you're drunk."

"So are you. That makes it fair."

"I don't think that's how it works."

headcanon: sometimes when Allura spars with Shiro, she’ll change size in the middle of a bout. a punch aimed at her throat glances harmlessly off her chestplate as she grows. she dodges effortlessly between his legs by shrinking and now she’s returned to regular size and in perfect position to strike at his vulnerable back. Shiro is startled at first, but he quickly comes to enjoy the extra challenge and Allura’s playfulness. for her part, Allura loves getting to use her full abilities in a way she hasn’t often been able to and she’s confident that Shiro can take whatever she throws at him.
