Honestly it’s just kinda depressing to see antis going around messaging strangers like “hello that person you just reblogged from is an anti-anti” as if that were equivalent to being a terf or a white supremacist or something. Like... feel however you want about other people’s ships and fic, but don’t flooping harass anyone about it.
So my teacher is having us do a fanfic unit....and like it should be awesome...bUT...it really isn’t...i have an intense urge to send her an email explaining how she’s doing everything wrong and asking if i could just teach it instead.
Rereading some of my old wips and gosh dang it I like these a lot and feel like sharing.
This is from a Tabris/Alistair fic set just after Awakening. Everybody’s gotten a bit drunk after successfully defending Amaranthine and the Keep. Also Eamon’s been trying to persuade Alistair to marry someone more “suitable” than Tabris and Alistair is starting to realize that Eamon isn’t that great.
She humphed against his chest but settled back down, and suddenly Alistair's anger fizzled out. "You could marry me instead," she told him. "That'll piss him off and you'll be safe from the scheming."
He laughed. "Oh, he'd explode of apoplexy for certain. Wouldn't that be something to see!"
His laughter petered out when he realized in full what she'd proposed. (She'd proposed!) "Wait, did you mean that for real?"
"I don't fake ask people to marry me, Alistair."
Tears pricked the backs of his eyes and he swallowed in an attempt to keep his voice from breaking. "But you're drunk."
headcanon: sometimes when Allura spars with Shiro, she’ll change size in the middle of a bout. a punch aimed at her throat glances harmlessly off her chestplate as she grows. she dodges effortlessly between his legs by shrinking and now she’s returned to regular size and in perfect position to strike at his vulnerable back. Shiro is startled at first, but he quickly comes to enjoy the extra challenge and Allura’s playfulness. for her part, Allura loves getting to use her full abilities in a way she hasn’t often been able to and she’s confident that Shiro can take whatever she throws at him.
Blog 1: Interactive Fiction and my Experiences with Adventure
To me, Interactive Fiction is fiction that lets the reader decide where the story goes. A key part of Interactive Fiction is that it’s some sort of software that can accept a player’s inputs and respond in turn. Interactive Fiction is similar to those choose your own adventure books you find in bookstores. The ones where you get to the end of the page and depending on your choice you turn to a certain page. With interactive fiction though, instead of turning to a certain page you enter in whatever command you want to take. For instance, while in a room, you can choose to move a certain direction or pick up objects in the room. Depending on what you do in the room, your game can change. Leave without grabbing the keys and you won’t be able to unlock a door which leads to a different adventure. Writers of Interactive Fiction create different options that the player goes down depending on what the player chooses to do.
Between Zork and Adventure, I preferred Adventure. Maybe it’s because I didn’t get as far in Zork as I did Adventure but I thought Adventure was a more enjoyable experience. Playing Adventure, I had two different experiences. One playthrough I made it to the Oriental Room, the other I made it to the Swiss Cheese room. In my playthrough to the Oriental Room, I found the secret room with the passcode “plugh”. I had silver, gold and a bird cage. I fought off the snake with the bird and killed a dragon with my bare hands. In my other playthrough, I had the double whammy of suck where my treasure was stolen by a pirate and I was harassed by a dwarf. The dwarf eventually killed me and when I came back to life I wandered into the darkness until I died again. I enjoyed the weirdness that Adventure had. I mean there was a room of Swiss Cheese and you killed a Dragon with bare hands.
