old doc appreciation post + his possible reference!
This has been sitting in the oven for a while as a draft, but I needed to post it because I can’t stop thinking about it
I love doc so much and I love his current design, but this one…. This one gets the cake I cannot lie. His short hair is so awesome, he still didn’t have as much grey hairs as now :((( he’s in so much stress 😭😭 but idk I love his current hair, only thing I can complain about it is that it’s sooooo hard to draw sometimes 😭😭😭
AAAAND funnily enough, he looks A LOT like a certain someone who they probably have used as reference. Drum roll……..

You might know him from La Haine, or that bad wonderwoman film with G*l Gad*t (we do not mention that war criminal here). When I first watched La Haine I was like “hmm, this guy rings a bell” and that’s why!! They probably took inspiration from him. After all, he’s a French-Moroccan who is pretty famous in France, so it makes sense they decided to make their French-Algerian operator look similar to him.
Comparison side by side:
The narrow and wide-end nose, the downturned eyes, the shape of the eyebrows (though doc’s might be thicker), the ears, even the mouth and chin are super similar!! I’d say doc’s face is a bit more wide (since he probably is not skinny due to his job). Doc’s nose is less straight compared to Said, but you can barely tell the difference.
Now this was his first face reveal, but they did modify his face a bit in later years.
Current design:
I think the only really substantial difference would be his eyebrows and his lips but you have to squint. His face seems wider too? His nose is practically the same (don’t let the shadows fool you) and obviously the biggest differences are his hair and greyhairs. He’s definitely aged (my poor baby and his eyebags) but he looks INCREDIBLY good. With this hair he does look more unique than he used to be, but honestly I love both hairstyles. I can’t tell if his eyes are much darker of it’s the lighting 🤔 I wouldn’t be surprised, if I were to work with these crazy psychos I would lose the light in my eyes too 😭😭 jk jk
Anyways, if you read this all till the end give me your thoughts!! Idk if the devs actually talked about this, but I found it very cool. Thank God he ended up not being white 😭

He’s not usually the most showy about his affection but he isn’t hiding it either. He just doesn’t see the point in being loud about how he feels about anyone or anything.
Has a temper. You might think age has brought him a tolerance for ignorant and stupid behavior but you’d be surprised when he snaps at someone for not taking his advice to heart when he explains they cannot combine two medications that do not react well.

Your fingers skimmed through the large stsck of papers, reading of names in your head. Standing straight up and looking for where ever Kateb could hind this key. Opening the small keyboard spot you were met with a calender, a month behind, paper clips, cards, spare plastic medicine cups and rubber bands. You hummed, shifting through the piles beforehearing the jingle of something familar. A rig of keys. The WolfGuard insignia shinning back at you with three keys.
Your soft eyes darting up to find the unopened medicine cabinet, uninterested you looked else where, a laerge metal rack holding his uniform and gear, then the last key on the ring. The bottom drawer that remainded locked. Unopened to prying eyes and well your nosy little ones. You swiftly moved, finding yourself on the floor with one leg folded under you while the other stretched out. your fingers tugged the key up, pushig the rest and he insignia to dangle from the ring. Sliding the key in you smiled, the cold metal causing a light clicking noise that could be heard over the a/c uit above. It turned, allowing your two fingers to lock and pull the silver handle towards you. Your eyes laid on the objects hiden away. That is if he doesn't already know everything. The papers were extentsive, documnting the reason, time and date, place and who all went with you. It was almost suprising.
But not suprising… You placed it back, finaly gretting to the metal box. Yiu pushed the drawer shut, placing the box in your lap chris cross. Your nails raking at the latchs until it opned. A pile of small pictures printed out, they were all of you, naked, half clothed, in this very office. but one thing was always present. A look of pur bliss and Kateb's large hand on your hip. Your face flushed remembering him saying something about not keeping the photos he waws taking of you. You tummy got warm and your core tightened.
