6 & 9 for the fantasy writer asks!!
Of course, friend! I’ll answer these for the world of Armored Soul, Resonant Frequency, and Symphony Number Five.
6. Are there different creatures in your world? What kind of creatures?
Oh, yes! Absolutely! Probably the most dramatic example of that are the Great Storms. I made a post about them right over here. They’re creatures of all shapes and sizes that have some degree of control over the weather. I love them all so much.
Aside from them, there’s lots more creatures that don’t exist in our world. Griffins immediately come to mind! There are also plenty of smaller griffin subspecies, called different things depending on where in the world you are. In the northern mountains of Narheim, you’ll also find metal serpents, massive six-legged beasts made of living metals. In most forests, you’ll find some kind of big cat, like the tarantei of Barria. And out in the far north, there are wolflike creatures called the dhojr, highly intelligent and more than willing to hang out with people.
9. What are the religions of the characters in your book? Are there certain gods/goddesses?
Isidor of Armored Soul is a follower of the Narheimian pantheon, the Nine Gods. Each god has dominion over a virtue and a vice. Most people choose two or three gods to pray to, and just pay the others cursory respect. Isidor personally prefers Siegbrecht the Crusader, Haldebrand the Judge, and Vilhelm the Inquisitor.
Eloisia of Resonant Frequency used to be a Selentist, but certain Life Things changed her, and she became agnostic. Selentists believe that the goddess Selentia created the world by speaking it into being. She’s directly opposed by the Nameless, a force that seeks Silence above all else. While Selentia continues speaking all things into existence, her nine Seraphim guard her from the Nameless’ harm.
The Affogati are a Selentist sect. They believe that, when the Nameless was cast away from Selentia, it fell into the sea. They worship the Nameless as it slowly claws its way back from its watery grave. The Affogati believe their deity will come again, and signal the end of times.
Frederick of Resonant Frequency is a devout Novem Anguissan. The Novems are a sect of the Anguissan faith, which used to be huge, but has splintered apart in the modern day. His particular sect believes that three divine dragons created the world together.
Baolin of Armored Soul is a Traditional Anguissan. They largely believe themselves to be the best representatives of their faith. Traditionals believe that a single divine dragon created the world, on its own, no help needed. This dragon is limited in what it can currently do in the world itself, since it’s currently fighting the entropic death of the universe as embodied in a shadow dragon called Nobody.
Several orchestra members in Symphony follow the Svelic pantheon. I made a post about them right over here! I love them all very much.
