Having relatives that raise chickens and rabbits have been a unique introduction to what I’d call a simpler way of life. Almost every weekend, I head out of town to visit and help my in laws on their homestead. One of the things I have learned was how to raise rabbits although I don’t do it myself. But what I have taken from them and applied in my garden is their manure.  Rabbit manure is some of the best and most rich fertilizer you can obtain. It’s technically the highest concentrated fertilizer from an animal and I have noticed great benefits in my garden the past few seasons. Firstly, a straw of 20-25cm shall be laid at the bottom of the ditch, on which the rabbit dung, bedding grass and dirt prepared for fermentation and disinfection shall be piled, with a thickness of 1-1.2m. Then, the dung dump shall be covered with 10cm thick cereal grass, which shall be covered with 10cm thick soil. It can be used as fertilizer. Compost can also be made into organic fertilizer products through fertilizer granulator and other organic fertilizer equipment for sale.

3. Biological heat disinfection

It is mainly used for the harmless treatment of waste and feces. Rabbit manure and waste should be piled up in a remote place far away from the rabbit house in the rabbit farm, so that the temperature can be as high as 70 ℃ by using the microorganism fermentation in the feces to produce heat. After a period of time, it can kill viruses, pathogens, coccidial oocysts and other pathogens to achieve the goal of disinfection, while maintaining the fecal fertility. The nitrogen content of rabbit manure is 1.53 times of chicken manure, 3.29 times of sheep manure, 3.83 times of pig manure, the phosphorus content is 2.88 times of chicken manure, 4.6 times of sheep manure, 5.75 times of pig manure, the potassium content is 1.6 times of chicken manure, 2.67 times of sheep manure and 2 times of pig manure. Bye Bye, Bunnies!

It's time to say bye bye to our bunnies these next few months.

Well, we sold a majority of our rabbits. On New Year’s Day, my gray doe gave birth to 5 bunnies. I raised them with their mom until they were 2 months of age and, the week before Easter, sold all 5 rabbits via Craigslist. I picked up a free doe, bred her and the grey doe again, and ended up with two more litters. The grey doe has 8 bunnies, the white doe has 3. And then my operation began to fall…
