The highlight is undoubtedly the 5,000 meters, which will see Morgan McDonald and Grant Fisher battle for the final time as collegians.

Tour of Poland Preview: Stage 1
Warszawa - Warszawa (122km)
Another day, another race! August pretty much doesn’t let up for cycling. There’s a lot of races and many of them overlap as well. This is the next ProTour one, beginning today, August 2nd.
First thing’s first, the team for Movistar? It brings back both riders who were on the podium with winner Majka last year in Jon Izagirre and Benat Intaxusti. Joining them is Alex Dowsett, Igor Anton, Eros Capecchi, Juan Jose Lobato, Jasha Sutterlin and Fran Ventoso.
Stage 1 is a circuit around Poland’s capital. It’s 10 laps of the flat city streets that should come down to a sprint finish.
Last year’s winner, Rafal Majka, is not coming back to defend his title but Poland have home hopes in Michael Kwiatkowski who’s honoured to be doing the Tour in his Wolrd Champion jersey. This may lead on Movistar in their hopes to go one better than last year. The other major contenders with the amount of climbing involved have to be Astan’s Aru (who’ll use this to warm up for La Vuelta) and Van Den Broeck.
As today is a sprint finish even with his illness and injury filled year, Marcel Kittle has to be the favourite for the opening stages that favour the sprinters. His competition comes mainly in the form of Guardini, Ewan, Nizzolo. It seems the climbing in the second half of the race has rather put the sprinters off!
I’ll be keeping tabs on this daily with preview and post-race write-ups.
No racing for the 899s this weekend at the BSB. I’ll be there doing PR stuff. My next outing will be with North Gloucester at Thruxton next weekend. Primarily on the Ducati but if there’s a slot on the Sunday I may dust the RC8 off for a rip in the Powerbikes.
Right…so, it did already happen, but if you’re TV-only (LOL) it’s still got it’s pre-race value. Plus, always fun to compare afterward.

Paris – Roubaix 2015 Preview – Tips, Contenders, Profile
Paris – Roubaix is the flattest of all the classics but has around 30km of brutal cobbled sections (which I can vouch for). The race traditionally suits heavier, powerful riders but without Boonen and Cancellara, the race is ready to move onto a new generation. If wet, this race can descend into a true Hell of the North and will have plenty of crashes. Hopefully the weather stays dry and we have…
