Locos, ricos y asiáticos 🍟🍟🍟🍟/5. . La historia es demasiado entretenida! Tiene dinero, romance, cahuineo y todo el drama necesario en esta vida! 😂. . El libro narra las distintas familias “importantes” de Singapur… y como todas ellas se van relacionando (y como están emparentadas), la verdad, el primer tercio del libro es medio lento ya que más que avanzar con la historia nos cuentan sobre las familias... quién es hijo de quién, como nacieron sus fortunas, etc… supongo que es necesario para crear el contexto, pero se vuelve tedioso despues de un rato. PEEEERO una vez que ya esta todo “presentado” comienza lo bueno jajaja. . La historia se divide principalmente entre Nick/Rachel y Astrid/Michael. . Por un lado Nick lleva a Rachel a conocer a su familia pero nadie realmente la acepta. A mi parecer Rachel es un personaje muy bien hecho, es una mujer realista, segura de si misma, y que no se deja pasar a llevar fácilmente. Y Nick es su complemento perfecto. La verdad la pareja que hacen me encanta y se nota que están muy enamorados 😍. . En el otro lado tenemos a Astrid que esta casada con Michael hace ya bastante, pero como él no es rico, tampoco ha sido totalmente aceptado por la familia de ella. La historia entre ellos es un poco mas complicada ya que no es solamente sobre los cahuines, si no sobre su dinámica como pareja/familia (ellos dos y su hijo) la que se ve afectada. . Dejaré hasta ahí las explicaciones para no caer en spoilers. . La verdad recomiendo mucho este libro y no puedo esperar para leer el segundo. . Además debo mencionar que se hizo una adaptación en el 2018. No es una adaptación totaaaalmente fiel pero como película MUY BUENA! (además Henry Golding hace de Nick ❤️). Y… la película es auto conclusiva, a diferencia del libro, ya que es una trilogía... por lo que puedes verla sin temor a dejar temas sin resolver porque no hay segunda parte. . Que hay de ustedes? Leyeron el libro? Vieron la película? De ser así qué les pareció? I LOVED reading this over the summer! 📚 Rachel Chu has a great life in NYC, is an Economics professor, & has a great boyfriend named Nick Young who is from Singapore. Things change when Nick invites Rachel to visit Asia with him for the summer & attend his best friend’s wedding. She quickly finds out that they will attend the wedding of the century & that his family is really wealthy...crazy rich & they Are the society family in Singapore. 📚 I love all of the narrators, the characters, and the descriptions of the home & scenery. I think all of the characters were my favorite but especially Rachel, Nick, Astrid, Eleanor, Peik Lin, Colin, & Eddie. I kept thinking of @awkwafina as Peik Lin & my girl did not disappoint! @crazyrichasians was an amazing adaptation. It was my favorite of 2018! The international cast, gorgeous set, & costumes were amazing!
