anywhere i think. as long as people are not talking at me/expecting me to pay attention. i write at work where its very noisy too. i think IDEAL would be like one of those old timey writing desks with some nice place to put a notebook down

the ask game

1. How many siblings do they have? If they have any, what's their relationship?

As a tribe-born Miqo'te, she probably has many technical half-siblings, but the only one she sees as actually being her sibling is K'nen Tia. After she ran away from the tribe, abandoning her brother, she couldn't stand to face him again — even through a letter.

This changed when they got dragged into Warrior of Light business together, both being recruited into the scions. During A Realm Reborn, Elaine was in hiding — never taking off her helmet, using a pseudonym instead of her birth name (K'nhora), but this changed after the events of the Vault.

Sorry! That's a lot of infodump. I'm so normal about these siblings. K'nen belongs to @mendelnavi by the way, go show Dwyer some love!

2. Most scared & confused they've ever felt.

During the lead up to Shadowbringers, as her and Nen's friends seem to drop like flies, when she finally gets summoned, she's terrified. Usually she pushes through her fear 'like a warrior of light should', but this time her fear and confusion manifests in raining absolute verbal hellfire upon the Crystal Exarch, forcing him into trying the summoning a second time even on low power reserves.

Conversely, the most relieved she's ever felt was when her brother made it to the Source safely. She knows Nen, ans after losing his fiance Thancred, his sister and best friend disappearing next would utterly break him.

3. Biggest goal or dream in life?

At this point, her goal is surviving with everything in her life still intact. The events of FFXIV have been honestly devastating (not my intention) for her and she just wants to go back to normal. Marry someone nice. Settle down in the Lavender Beds. But above all, her biggest goal right now is to keep Nen safe. Her canon class is DRK, and that says everything you need to know about the relationship between those two.

All the anger, fear, terror she's felt in the years they were seperated is channeled into some truly terrifying magic — the only problem being she's self-taught, and sometimes her spells get out of control.

💖What is your primary writing goal for this year? - Honestly, it's probably to just get more than one chapter of Talk the Stars done by the end of the year. I know it sounds kind of unambitious, but my work for college is picking up steam, and since I'm focusing in creative writing, I'm going to be doing a lot more writing for school instead of for fun. I want to do it though, mostly because it means I'll actually get to post a chapter about one of the two characters that the story was originally about again, finally.

🐌What is one of your smallest writing goals? - Tbh it's probably just to write a one-shot of something by the end of the year. I pulled it off last spring when I was possessed by brainrot, and I'd like to do it again if I could. I feel like none of my goals are very small, I put too much pressure on myself when it comes to writing lmao

🍄Are there any fandoms that you've never written for but want to try? - Honestly, my Genshin brainrot is so all-consuming that I can't really imagine writing for anything else at the moment. Writing is stored in the hyperfixation, so I honestly don't know if I even could. If I had to pick, maybe Project Sekai? I have some Thoughts about WonderlandsXShowtime going to Waffle House.

🥳How are you going to celebrate when you achieve one of your writing goals? - This is a cute but I kinda just. don't celebrate when I finish a project. The reward comes in the form of posting it in order to gain Validation(tm) but at that point it's usually an ungodly hour in the morning so I just end up going to sleep lolol Sleep can be my reward.

so my thoughts is that they're linked to ballos in origin - given rabid mimiga can be controlled by the crown, and jenka was the one who locked them up after the war - and that they're kind of like... not 'real' flowers, but rather a magical manifestation of his rage leaking out, so they grow unnaturally fast (in the right conditions, which seems to be lots of water), but are super weak to fire

as for their effect, they're stated to draw out latent abilities, but also 'contain a compound' to destroy your reasoning - so what i mentioned last night about rabid mimiga displaying magic is interesting in that we see ballos was very messed up by losing control of his powers, which leads to my headcanon that technically all the red flower does is draw out latent magical abilities, but it's tainted by ballos' rage and boosts the victim's magic to an unbearable point so that they lose control of their actions (and their physical form gets fucked up). my follow-up headcanon to cooked flowers is that it dampens their potency by a lot (but the rage is still there) and gives the consumer like... some control over what happens to them, depending on their intent? and king ate them wanting to be stronger physically - so he did, and just never realised he could potentially do anything else lmao

Predictably, Genshin Impact makes me very happy. It definitely qualifies as my comfort game at this point, despite its flaws. I'm just gonna count Venti under this same point too because he's my comfort character, blorbo from my video games, the love of my life, the guy ever, my ideal gender, etc. etc. etc.

My college orchestra. I enrolled in my school because of the massive anime club, but in the end what's really made my experience is orchestra. We play exclusively video game music and it's basically everything I could have ever dreamed of for playing music, plus I've made a lot of great friends from it. (Rads, we're playing a medley from Chrono this semester and it's been making me think of you the entire time lol)

Just. My friends in general tbh. I didn't exactly have the most vibrant social life back in high school (though I do still have some friends from those days who I treasure, y'all know who you are), as someone who will shrivel up into a husk and die without human interaction, making so many great friends in college after a year of isolation has made me so happy

Writing, with the caveat that my brain doesn't work a lot of the time and therefore very little writing happens a lot of the time and then I sit around hating myself for not writing. H o w e v e r, when I do actually have the brain to write and the stuff I write actually comes together? Best feeling in the world. I fucking love creating
