Plot -
Arkham, 1975: Johnathan's father has disappeared.
His trail leads to Germany - &, into the forbidding Swabian-Franconian Forest.
This was where his dad had been stationed after WW2.
Hoping to bring him home, Johnathan soon follows.
But, deep in the woods, he stumbles into a deadly & alien 'legacy' - a danger left behind by a weird meteorite...
This story is Lovecraft's favorite, as he created a truly alien menace.
Something he had been inspired to do by Algernon Blackwood's Presence(s) in his 1907 novella "The Willows."
Unlike in most of his works, HPL - here - nails down what true cosmic horror entails.
Howard's alien appears as something far beyond his tentacled abominations.
The 2010 version of this tale is in black & white, runs 1 hour & 25 minutes & was originally released on September 28, 2017.
As with any good Lovecraftian horror, IT can't be slayed by the 'hero'!
Rather, like a Hound of Tyndalos, IT follows us home...
Enjoy!
