I think Alastor is so great to ship with bc in a way he can function as a narrational mirror in one way or another to all the characters. It's actually quite amazing - the different layers he resonates and works with to each character are unique to each ship!
Born on this day: Ethel Barrymore! Katharine was a great admirer of all of the Barrymore family members but cherished her friendship with Ethel Barrymore that began thanks to knowing George Cukor so closely - Kate spent very meaningful time reading & talking with Ethel towards the end of Ethel’s life: “I would go away and I’d always come back. And people would say to me, ‘You’re so nice to go and call on Ethel.’ And I would think, ‘How lucky I am to be able to see Ethel!’ I always had a feeling of elevation at having been with her. Every time I went I would look at her and think, ‘I might never see you again.’ And yet there she was, sitting up in bed and looking as though something wonderful was in her future.” Here is a treat for fans: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ radio broadcast for Ethel Barrymore’s 70th birthday celebration (August 15th 1949) The broadcast, split into three parts in order to fit the video requirements on Instagram, was recorded mostly at George Cukor’s MGM office and included numerous celebrities who wanted to say a few words for their dear friend; the photo attached to the audio was taken at the celebration George Cukor had for Ethel’s 70th, days prior to the 15th. • #katharinehepburn #ethelbarrymore #barrymore #billyburke #billyburke #hollywood #actress #ampas #propertyoftheampas #audio #oldradio #radiobroadcast #1940s #1949 #actresses #stage #onthisday https://www.instagram.com/p/CSnb95GnP13/?utm_medium=tumblr

I think my favorite thing about homestuck is how much it perfectly captures what its like to be 13 and super online and have all these big feelings you dont know how to handle.
Dont you remember being 13 and EVERYTHING felt so high stakes all the time. Even something like roleplaying with your friends or playing games or drawing artwork felt like it was happening in real life. And that it was serious business. I know the gimmick with homestuck is that the game theyre playing IS actually real, but it just reminds me so much of being a kid and how every single thing you did felt like it was the most serious thing ever while also simultaneously Not knowing how to take anything seriously or react appropriately to anything.
Having spats with your friends because you guys really havent learned how to be people yet and none of you even understand what youre feeling.
Characters being excessively vulgar because theyre just ~So Very Grown Up~ while still being so obviously childish and naive and confused and stressed out about literally everything. I think a lot of people give homestuck a hard time for being super shitposty and crude but i feel like thats an integral part of these characters. You have to look past the fuck shit piss asshole retard bullshit to see that these characters are actually talking about some real shit but theyre doing it the only way they know how which is to be really annoying about it. Because thats the only way you know how to express yourself when youre 13. The vulgarity feels very natural from the characters rather than feeling shoehorned in by the author, if that makes sense. theres obviously a million stories where teenage characters r written like adults but here its not rly like that. its like, theyre kids who are TRYING to act like adults. but they cant, bc theyre not. its different.
Idk i find it so hard to find anything that has ever properly captured this sort of "faux teenage adulthood" feeling as well as homestuck does. I feel like a lot of people think that because a character is 13 then youre not allowed to draw or write them doing certain things lest you be labeled a weirdo but its also like. Dont you remember being 13 and everything feeling like this all the fucking time. It couldnt possibly just have been me.
A while ago i had uploaded simple front + back images of my official 2012 Pon and Zi plushies. But I've realized there are almost no images of these online aside from my own, and figured I would take more in depth images for archival purposes!
