Mass General Hospital has a high rate of boys who leave the hospital without the most sensitive part of their penis, have not been protected from sexual assault and have lost their right to security of person, equal protection under the law and the right to bodily autonomy. Harry Guiremand Bloodstained Men Board of Directors Director at Large Spokesperson Harry first saw the bloodstain in the iconic photo of the seven Bloodstained Men protesting at the American Academy of Pediatrics convention in New Orleans in October, 2012. Harry recalls: “I was impressed by the way they bloodstain communicated immediately that an injury and an injustice was done to these men and they are no longer going to remain quiet about it. I felt this might make the sort of impact that we needed and that it would put to rest the idea that men never complain about circumcision.” Harry first wore the bloodstain at Civic Center Park in Denver on July 22, 2014. Since then he has gone on numerous tours with the Bloodstained Men. His calm manner and eloquence has made him an excellent spokesperson, and the face of the Bloodstained Men in much of the media coverage. In Harry’s own words: “I’m confident that the bloodstain works. It gets attention. People respond viscerally: everything from rage to applause. In Texas, a fireman even saluted us as his fire truck drove past. People are getting the message: Genital mutilation should not be tolerated, no matter who the victim is.” Harry continues to tour. He will be part of the Bloodstained Men contingent at the Super Bowl and elsewhere in Georgia in February 2019. He will also attend San Francisco’s Pride Festival this coming June.
