It had been an hour. One whole our. Sixty whole minutes. And all Finn could think about was how he kissed from one collarbone, all the way along to the other. The way he kissed her so passionately, and so gentle, that he hoped all his feelings were in that one, passionate kiss. The way time just seemed to slow down. Everything was perfect. Rae was so brave, so strong. Finn looked down to his side, seeing a sleeping Rae, with her head on his chest. He smiled to himself, stroking her hair, as he watched her. He leaned down, and kissed the top of her head softly. He loved her. And he knew that they both needed to talk in the morning. And the thought of it going wrong, made his stomach churn.
She woke up to the only sound that could make her heart race this way: Finn breathing. She slowly opened her eyes, and lifted her head slightly, not wanting to wake him, and she smiled. Rae stayed there, staring at his face. The way his eyelashes rested against his cheeks, and the way his freckles seemed to stand out, in the morning sun. She couldn’t stop herself, but she leaned closer to him, kissing his lips softly once. His eyes fluttered open, and he smiled tiredly at her,
“Mornin’.” He said huskily, causing shivers to run down Rae’s spine.
She smiled sheepishly at him,
“Morning.”
Finn reached up, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Rae blushed slightly, smiling at him.
“God, ah love wakin’ up t’ ya.” He whispered.
Rae nodded,
“Me too.”
Rae moved slightly, feeling Finn move, and he leaned up on his elbows, looking at her,
“Y’ do know that we need t’ talk. Don’t ya?”
She swallowed slowly, and nodded.
They both sat up properly, leaning their backs against the headboard, and Finn took Rae’s hand, playing with her fingertips,
“Ah need this, Rae.” He looked at her. “Ah need us.” He paused for a second, looking back down at her fingers. “Ah was’ miserable wi’out ya. An’, not jus’ miserable. Ah wa’ confused.”
Rae pressed her lips into a tight line, and she nodded,
“I know.” She whispered, and she cleared her throat. “Ah know, an’ I’m so sorry, Finn.” Rae spoke more clearly this time. “Ah wa’ jus’… Y’know? Out of it.” Rae looked down at her lap. “Ah lied. T’ you, t’ the gang. T’ myself.”
Finn watched her closely, and as badly as he wanted to scoop her in his arms, he knew she needed to let this out.
Rae sniffed slightly,
“A-Ah jus’ couldn’t understand, Finn. Ah saw that picture o’ you an’ Stacey, an’ then ah saw the picture o’ you an’ me. You two looked more suited, than us. Everyone wa’ talkin’ about us. Talkin’ about ‘ow wa’ it possible, that y’ were into me.” Rae swallowed. “An’ then I started to wonder.” Rae shrugged slightly, “Ah had to let y’ go. Had to let y’ go, an’ be wi’ someone that deserved t’ be wi’ ya.”
She looked at him,
“Bu’ ah wa’ worse.” A tear slowly fell down her cheek. “Ah wa’ worse wi’out ya, an’ ah did things, an’ said things that I shouldn’t have.” Finn wiped away her tears with his thumb. “An’…” Rae looked down. “Ah wish that I never broke up wi’ ya, cause…” She sniffed, looking up at him. “Cause ah fuckin’ love ya.”
Finn smiled at her words, and he leaned in, kissing her softly.
“I love ya, Rae. An’ ah do deserve ya, an’ ah don’t give a fuck about wha’ other people think. Ah love ya, an’ ah think you’re—”
“Don’t say it Finn.” Rae warned.
He stared at her for few seconds,
“Why not? It’s true. You’re perfect to me, an’ for me.”
Tears rolls down Rae’s cheeks, causing Finn to wipe them away with his thumb again.
“Can we start again?”
Rae sniffed, and she nodded,
“Ah’d love that.”
