“What do you mean he won’t listen,” he snarls. “Just - fuck him yes or something.” Izuku can’t even imagine the face he’s pulling. “‘Fuck him yes’?” he repeats in horror. “You know what I mean you piece of shit!” is yelled back.

This is not a #bakudeku story, but if Izuku hadn’t wanted Todoroki to give him shit about it, he probably should have thrown away that doujinshi Jirou had bought him.

Soooo.... coming out of my hybernation just to drop this here. Something I've been sitting on for years, LITERAL years, with this one up here being like, the third iteration of this idea: a James Bond/Spy thriller/ Mr. & Mrs. Smith type cover for my FAVOURITE Star Trek fic... which is NOT tagged as slash (tho' it kind of could be read as that, I think, I mean, the undertones are definitely there so *shrugs*), NOT finished and NOT going to be finished but BUT, here me out, guys, has humor, action, bratty/spoiled/passive-aggressive Spock, idiot bad-boy Jim, cunty/smarmy/bad-ass Pike, Gaila an Uhura besties shenanigans, grumpy Bones, going undercover to dismantle an inhuman slave ring, Spock taking """escort""" lessons on the Federation dime and a deliciously frustrated Kirk. Everything a girl could ask for, really!
Fic is called L/A/S by rageprufrock on AO3 and is quite an old one, the Archive one is a repost, I think, and the original one was posted on dreamwidth.
Would like to draw some more stuff for this fanfic, I already have quite a few folders with some storyboard for my fav scenes mapped out but... we'll see.
Anyway, give the story a go, it's worth it! *thumbs up*

A quickie bind in between 2 chonky chaparral_crown binds! This fic was recommended to me on the Renegade Discord and after I read it, it immediately leapt to the top of my to-bind pile. Sometimes you just need a taster of short fic bind while you procrastinate on the next few steps. I have a great appreciation for rageprufrock fics (have been reading them since the Star Trek days of yore) and damn, is this Hannibal fic absolute gorgeousness.
I had initially planned a wound man design on the cover (went so far as to convert an image to a black and white PNG but the image quality wasn't great, and due to violence, it might have been a rather disturbing cover to post publicly so I changed my mind last minute and did something else instead. The spine was too small for titling - I had initially wanted to go for block letters a la Annihilation style on the front cover as the title is 8 letters, but it hadn't looked as good as the serif no caps font rotated 90 degrees - so serif font it was. Hannibal doesn't seem like a man who likes san serif fonts anyway, so perhaps this was the right choice.
I'm deeply fond of this particular bookcloth and its colour iterations but I need some colour variation on my shelf - next book will be green, I swear.
I kept the bind relatively simple and relatively classic. The endpapers are foiled, though the foiling doesn't show up well in photos. I used a chattering of starlings on the chapter headers, and can totally imagine Hannibal drawing little artistic birds for his own amusement while incarcerated in the psychiatric hospital. For the title page, I had wanted to do a face with a moth in the style of Silence of the Lambs, but couldn't find a nice enough stock photo, so I foiled a solitary moth with the help of toner reactive foil. The laminator didn't like the foil so much and left a line across the paper.
The HTV itself adhered largely like a dream other than the thin stringy bits that were a tad difficult to weed. The gold metallic is a standout and I didn't melt it this time. (hurray!)
No Less Unthinkable by Rageprufrock
It seemed fitting, given that there was fresh snow, to be able to take a picture of a fanbound Yuri on Ice fic outside. Looks lovely, right? Not captured by this photo: the fact that it was -29C/-20F, and I was outside in my winter coat and pajamas with no gloves or toque on, trying to get the book carefully wedged on top of an empty yogurt container in a snow drift before I lost the light for the day.
You will note that the rest of the pictures are taken INSIDE.
The cover and spine are a combination of chiyogami paper, stencilled acrylic paint, and some freehand disaster recovery experimentation. Endpapers are Japanese paper of indeterminate origin.
Yuri on Ice stole my heart when it aired! I was thrilled to see @rageprufrock writing in the fandom! So when I was sorting through my bookmarks when I started fanbinding, this was an easy choice. No Less Unthinkable is a sweet, funny fic working from the premise of, but what if past drunk!Yuri had slept with everyone BUT Victor?
(Fun fact: when I set out to bind this fic, I thought oh, this is a romcom! I bet I can show this to a few friends and coworkers who know OF fanfic, but aren't really involved, right? Without having to get into any complicated explanations of fanfic conventions? And then I noticed that there was sex on the very first page. Well. That narrows that pool for show-and-tell a bit more. )
I have since gotten more practice with typesetting and gotten a bit fancier, but I'm still pretty happy with how this one turned out. And I did NOT accidentally tip it into a snowdrift in sub-sub-sub zero temperatures, so go me!
After much ado and a great number of mishaps (read:fuckups), I can proudly present my first fan binding book(s)!
The very first fic I thought of when discovering this was a thing one could do was this:
The Least of All Possible Mistakes by Rageprufrock, who has been very kind about me emailing them about this project in a way one might consider over-eager.
I wound up doing two copies, one for my own shelf and one to send to my best friend, which I plan to annotate with notes and the like.
I also wound up making my own headbands, because the premades I bought were not color theme appropriate (blues and teals for the jacket Mycroft gives George)
I did unfortunately put the bookmark in the wrong way around, being as I was gluing the spine up around 1am, but I've been told that's it's own trend so let's say it was intentional.
The cover paper and endpapers are a lovely Italian paper with an AMAZING embossed print that feel. So, so nice.
I also drew the umbrella and takeout box, because a certain scene in chapter 6 has stayed particularly vibrant in my mind these last 7 years of readthroughs.
I wound up doing the first copy typeset in Gdocs, which I can comfortably say was a mistake, and the reformatted and retypset it in InDesign for the second copy, which was one hell of a learning curve but the lovely folks on the Renegade Bindery discord really helped me through the process and this book absolutely would not have come into the world without them.
No titles on the front and spine yet, but that may yet come.
This has been such a fun project and I cannot wait to bind more books and create new hardbound copies. I already have a second fic bound, but that will be it's own post a little later.
