Drunk and sitting in the back of an ambulance. What wonders Shadow Company’s misadventures would do for the reputation of their coworkers in the 141. The slur of Gisele’s words made her buttery accent that much harder to melt, and Julia sighed as she had to refocus Trying to work out what was being said almost overloaded Julia’s already faulty translator, and before she could work it out -- A decidedly Alan Moore assertion of her status as a threat -- Gisele’s tongue was wagging again. It seemed the blanket had something to do with it, but Julia doubted the medics would respond well to her snatching it from their patient.
Lee-lahs. Julia prayed for the day a dictionary was made that would yield all of these Americans understandable. Charming slang aside, Julia could understand the gist of the situation -- a joke abut a boob job led to a catfight, or something to that degree. Pursing her lips, Julia exhaled slowly through her nostrils.
“Just tell me the other woman looks worse than you.”
Many questions many long answers a lil salt about ancient RP incidents... It goes under a cut.
4. A favorite picture of your muse’s face claim BUT that you don’t think actually matches your character too well. And explain why.
Have you heard the good news of Jennifer Connelly in a slatted knitted ensemble? I have no idea what to call that but oh God it makes me weak. That pose, that stare, and those little peeks of skin, I die.
Julia would never. The expression, perhaps, but that overtly threatening/fierce pose and the outfit itself are just the opposite of her MO. she would never be comfortable like that, out there in the open in so many ways. I might have used it in a past promo, but it still just… is not a Julia look. It doesn’t have the subtlety of pose that Julia so clings to. Plus, like I said, Julia thinks touch, and on some level, the human body, are icky so she would never be so exposed.
12. One bad part of writing with others (roleplaying)?
I’ve dealt with people who are more focused on making my characters who they think the characters should be over what I am writing. I had a crisis several months back and nearly deleted all of my canon accounts because I felt like there was no point in playing them, some of my own partners were blatantly ignoring everything I said and writing their own canon for my portrayals. One person went so far as to say I was OOC when I refused to play a plot with her OC because it would not fit my character.
Then I realized that was just an issue with two people, and the community at large liked my characters and acknowledged and respected what I wrote. Still, it sucks when control freaks and railroaders make you start to question yourself and characters you love because you don’t ascribe to what they want your character to be to theirs. It’s like… just unfollow if you don’t like what I’m doing. Don’t give your shitty opinion on how I should run my own account.
Don’t think it ends with canons, either, I’ve had partners drop me because I wasn’t keeping Julia’s characterization static as the sad fragile baby bird she started out as lmao. I’m so glad I follow people now that don’t make me feel like shit.
18. A character trait you don’t see often that your muse has.
I… can’t really think of one? This question sounds a little loaded, like it would be too easy to go ‘well MY character does THIS unlike EVERYONE ELSE EVER.’ I’m going to try to avoid that when I say Julia’s moral ambiguity is a trait I don’t see often on my dash.
A lot of characters tip one way or another, either towards more heroic actions, or play a muse more villainous. I’m sure there are plenty of characters not so easily put into one side or the other, but I have not seen many of them, which I’m sure is more a case of I’m not seeing them rather than there aren’t any. Julia will do what is best for her, without falling into traditional morality. There are boundaries she will not cross to get her way, things a lot of villains might gleefully leap over, but at the same time she lacks the altruism and goodwill that defines a lot of nicer characters.
She just kind of.. is. I would call that a weakness, her lack of truly concrete loyalties, except I’ve had people tell me that’s one of Julia’s most interest traits.
20. Something your character doesn’t know but you do and how this effects how you roleplay them.
Julia thinks both the West and the Ultranationalists have an even chance of winning this war. Hell, as of the third game, she probably thinks the Inner Circle is poised to take over the world Bond villain style. Of course, I know the story ends with a deisive Western victory in spite of massive casualties, so Julia is wrong to divide her eggs between two baskets.
Still, it’s preferable to sticking all of her eggs in Makarov’s basket, I suppose.
[Okay, well, hate is kind of a strong word. Eilidh doesn’t really hate many people. But she certainly does dislike a few.
Corrigan ( @sniperares ). I was going to type “Jason,” and Eilidh corrected me. Contemptuously :-p These two have never gotten along, and it’s at least partly because of their similarities, their stubbornness, their unwillingness to show weakness. Eilidh thinks he’s bitter, grumpy, and judgemental, and she doesn’t like that Dom is friends with him, because she doesn’t want Dom to subject himself to that. Really, though, the main wedge in their relationship is that Jason thinks she’s just using Dom, and there’s very little Eilidh hates more than people underestimating how much she cares about people and thinking she’s all about sex. But goddammit, they could be friends if they gave each other a chance and knew each other better. They do at least try not to start shit, for Dom’s sake if for no other reason.
Pax ( @paxoftheshadow ). *sigh* idk if Mercury was in retrograde or some shit the day they met, but that first conversation could not have gone worse. Eilidh got a judgy vibe from him when he was talking about how he doesn’t sleep with just anybody, and that kind of put her on edge. But when he asked if she knew anybody he might want to meet, and he got mad when she wouldn’t give him any suggestions? That sent up red flags for her. She doesn’t hate him, but she thinks he’s full of himself and angry, and she doesn’t trust his temper.
Gisele ( @ragsoftheshadow ). Gis is probably the muse Eilidh is closest to actually hating. Like, grumpy and kinda mean she can put up with, but Gisele accused her of not really loving her friends and not being willing to stick around when they needed her. As I said above, there is very little that gets to Eilidh like assuming she doesn’t care about people, and tbh she’s still furious about the way Gis came at her and how badly she misunderstood her. The other tough thing is that Eilidh is a civilian, and Gis is fucking intimidating, and at least part of how upset Eilidh is about the whole thing has to do with how weak it made her feel, how helpless she was to defend herself. So she’s angry at Gis, but she’s also angry at herself.]
Why have you been warning others about Pax and Rags? Surely other people can make judgements about them for themselves. And why not include Nomad? Is it because of your hate for Shadow Company, or are they just not redeemable in your eyes?
“I havenae warned anybody. You make it sound like I’m goin’ around destroyin’ whatever they have that passes for a reputation, but I sure as fuck dinnae care about them enough to do anythin’ like that. I’ll tell anybody who wants to know how I feel about them, but I certainly willnae go out of my way to do it. Corrigan I havenae had to deal with in a while, lucky for the both of us, but in any case the two of us are used to dealin’ with each other for Dom’s sake. I cannae stand the man, but Dom means a lot to me, so I try to keep my claws in.
What is this fuckin’ thing with ‘Shadow Company’? Is it like a fuckin’ football rivalry or some shite? I dinnae give a flyin’ fuck about any of that, and I dinnae know why you think I do.”
What do you like about Rags? Isn't she kind of a bitch?
“Spoken like someone who really doesn’t know her, good job mate.
What’s good about Rags is that she’s fuckin’ loyal. You gotta earn that loyalty because she sure as hell ain’t giving that shit out for free, but when you have it, you’ve got it no matter what. She might bitch and complain but she’ll stick with you through thick and thin. On top of that? She’s tenacious, fierce, a fucking warrior. She’s physically strong and mentally even stronger. She’s been through some stuff and the truth is that a lesser woman would have found herself suffocated by what that woman’s had to deal with.
She’s a “bitch” because she tells things how she sees ‘em. Don’t mean she’s right, but don’t mean she’s wrong either. There’s no bullshit with Rags, she’s got her opinions and she don’t hide ‘em. Sometimes they're truths you need to hear and sometimes they're comments you just want to smack her round the back of the head for, but either way I’ll always respect that woman for speakin’ her mind.
She’s my sister, best I could want as well. That’s pretty much all there is to it.”
"Ready to jump in the ring with me, vieux? Or has my bebette put your back out again, hm?"
“Old, really Rags?” He glanced up at her, attempting to look displeased but in truth a small smile did start to pull up the corners of his mouth. Nothing like a warm Rags welcome party to make him feel at home on the 141′s base. “My back’s fine, better than fine since I’ve had a few weeks free from Sam trying to kill me.” He held out his arms in invitation, grinning. “So if you wanna dance, come and dance, eh?”
[Trying to do this reply for Rags, and Eilidh’s just... ***INARTICULATE RAGE*** lmao. Even if this doesn’t come to blows, she’s going to have to track somebody down to fight or to fuck to get it out of her system :-p]
Spill it, which badass ladies have caught your eye on that army base?
My muse has just taken a Truth Potion, send “Spill it” plus a question and they will answer.
“Is it cheatin’ to say all of them? There’s just somethin’ about women who dinnae take shite and can bench press me without breakin’ a sweat that gets me fuckin’ weak in the knees. Lara’s obviously one--I think most people know that. Danny’s another. Fuck, Dani, too, though she isnae such a bruiser as the others. I havenae gotten far with either of them yet, but fuck, I’d like to.
...If she wasnae such a fuckin’ bastard, I’d have been happy to let that fuckin’ Cajun woman show me a thing or two. Too bad she’s too busy bein’ an arsehole to realize what she’s missin’ out on.”
