"Why did you come back" scene
Bilbo's speech is a catalyst for their relationship! From then on Thorin is reassured that Bilbo is committed and willing to stay till the end and the next moment when he protects him from Azog is just another proof of this. I'm always moved by Bilbo's words and the way they look at each other. Actually it's the first time they truly look at each other and I think that's beautiful.
The hug
Of course the Hug ™️ since Bagginshield means hug. But seriously this is where we realize that Thorin is physical person and that's how he shows his affection while Bilbo is not at all. The hug is important for many reasons besides "oh yay I ship". It's the moment Thorin makes the first step and opens up and Bilbo is so moved he can't but open up too. Two lonely people decide to trust each other and start again and that's moving.
The vouching scene
Ok, I love extremely this scene for many reasons and I'll never stop being bitter about the fact it's only in the extended version! Like seriously WHY?! It has such a big importance and meaning for the character and relationship development of both main characters! Bilbo, with nothing to gain or any obligation, vouches for Thorin and his honor with honesty and affection. And Thorin, who always thought he had to fight alone, finds support from the most unexpected person. Thorin is more sure than ever that Bilbo is the one who will always stand for him and justifies Thorin's blind trust to Bilbo later. It's just such a powerful scene!
The acorn scene
Acorn scene my beloved! Gayest scene of the trilogy my beloved! Who watches that scene and doesn't see the love between Bilbo and Thorin?! For a few minutes Thorin is again Thorin, no gold sickness, and looks at Bilbo so open and literally his eyes are heart shaped! And Bilbo gives him his true smile, BILBO PEOPLE whose true smiles are like how many? I think I can count them with the fingers of my one hand. ALL THAT FOR AN ACORN!!! And I really love that scene because it's a glimpse of how them being together would be like: Thorin smitten af and Bilbo lovestruck and in constant awe!
"Farewell master burglar" scene
Ok hate me everyone but you can't deny the fact that it's the most powerful and closest scene those two had! Thorin doesn't hesitate to take Bilbo's hand on his chest and look at him in his eyes and speaks only for Bilbo's sake, not his! And Bilbo is just... Bilbo speaks to him more forward than ever, more desperate than ever and their raw, honest emotions always get me (I can't rewatch this scene except I think that then Thorin wakes up because of course he does)!
AND OF COURSE MY FAVORITE IS THEIR WEDDING!!!
