Folks who have attempted to theorize and analyze details of OMORI: is there anything you’ve found that you just struggle to put the pieces together for? Like there’s a bunch of information that almost feels like it’s supposed to mean something but you can’t quite piece together what it’s supposed to mean, to the point where you think you’re just overthinking it?
Something that I try to bring up time and time again are these little “visions” of past events you get throughout faraway. I don’t think most people pay too much attention to them, but I’ve used one before to make the point that it wasn’t actually Hero that made Basil’s cake, but Sunny (with maybe help from Mari?)
But the reason I think they are intended to directly connect to the memory lane memories is because of the one for Aubrey and Kel in Hobbeez.
By making this the only one where the sprites are from different memories and drawing attention to the fact that Kel was made to remove his raincoat in the photo album, it almost seems like the game is trying to draw your attention to this!
So then you have the other Rainy Day Vision.
WHAT IS GOING ON HERE
Like these are new sprites too, right? Because they don’t have umbrellas?
And you can miss this vision if you do the recyclepath stuff. Was this unintended? Is it just another example of Sunny’s closeness with basil being hidden from the player? Is not seeing it supposed to be a “punishment” for sunny daydreaming?
Why would they even go to the lake? It’s too early in the timeline for it to be about Sunny almost drowning.
It just ALMOST feels like the game is saying something about the Rainy Day memory, between this and Rain Town. And don’t get me wrong, there ARE some odd details that connect to this memory. But is that just my desire for it to mean something because this is the memory where Basil asks Sunny about having a crush on Aubrey? I don’t know. I’m open to ideas.
