19 for the writer ask meme ;)
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
Yeah. A lot.
No such thing as too often, though. A lot of these are just part of my style, the way I like to phrase or describe things, though of course I’ll make sure I don’t say the same thing five times in a paragraph.
I often describe the “curve” or “line” of a physical feature—like the curve of a mouth or a smile, the line of a shoulder, the jaw, the face. I just like describing them that way in certain contexts.
I like the imagery of light, which is the painter side of me coming through. Yellow light especially, morning light, light and darkness, and how light can change the atmosphere of a setting.
Character dynamics, conversations, and interactions. Most of my stories are character-driven, rather than plot-driven.
And so many metaphors lmao. All the metaphors. I love metaphors.
