(reroot) Rainbow Nana-Chan (Shiba Corp, 1971)

I got this girl a few months ago and decided to reroot her quite recently, since I can thatched relatively well now!

Rainbow Nana comes with a very short bob cut and short bangs which I simply could not make work, so for the last few months she has been wearing a hank of blonde saran that I pinned to her head and then draped and hairsprayed into looking like a full head of hair.

I honestly really loved this hairstyle and would have left her that way forever, but she fell off my vanity last week and it screwed up the very fragile helmet of unrooted hair that I pinned over her original bob, so I decided that now would be the time to reroot her.

Initially I had planned to just reroot her original pattern (or a cleaner version of it- including her insane horizontally rooted parting) and then leave it super long for hairplay, but once I had her fully bald and prepped for rerooting I decided to do one of my favorite hairstyles of her era: low middle parted pigtails!

She was a bit of a challenge compared to my SM reroots because she needed a denser parting to cover the scalp in the hairstyle I had planned for her, but I'm really proud of her regardless. My intention was for the rooting pattern to look convincingly vintage and I think I accomplished that! You can see her dressed and fully styled here!
