I love the concept of canon events or unchangeable variables in alternate universes. I love thinking about the severe consequences that could come from altering this. I like thinking that would only ever make it work.
I usually absolutely hate when someone is just so good at everything so they happen to escape this fate. It's just Not Interesting. Give me a story where someone is dreading their destiny, or one where someone is looking forward to it only to end up suffering.
There are endless possibilities to this and I eat it up practically every time ^^
