Your most recent post (bunnies!) has me wondering- Fio lived the first couple years of her life without Franco, right? How does she handle him being added to her life? Like, is she apprehensive or is she like “oh cool new guy who spoils me :)” Does she accept him as her dad right away?
Additionally, that makes me wonder how quickly Dusty would be willing to let Franco into his and Fio’s lives…I know he’s protective of that baby. So many questions aaa
OO this is such a fun ask!! I thought an itty bit on how Fio would view Franco being in her life suddenly only a handful of times. I sorta dabbled on it in another rosobarbi kid au ask but let me ramble a little💭
Fio starts out just viewing him as like. ‘Oh, theres that guy again.’ Dusty would have explained to her who her father was before Franco even came back, so she knew who he was, but its just that lack of bond. Shes sort of a standoffish kid at first to people shes never met, so she takes a little to warm up. This is also a byproduct of her being quite lonely and adapting that slight apprehension to new people because of how shes been treated for her physical differences. She’s also just used to just her n Dusty, thats all it ever was. Dusty never even brought his rare fling to his home, he always kept that outside of the house (brcause he knows how uncomfortable that is for kids) so she never even dealt with other people being around the house. She knows thats her Pop, but she just doesnt know him. If that makes sense? And Franco is awkward around her at first which doesnt help, since he’s never cared for kids, but since she’s his own he’d make an effort. Its not the best at first but its there, and the more effort he puts in, the more she warmed up. It doesnt help either that Franco at first sort of was using her as an excuse so he could stop by more often for Dusty until he realized no, internally he wants to be there because she’s a Barbi. That’s his kid!! I also think that clicks in his head when she said “we got something silly with our faces.” While pointing at her cleft lip and then eye. I also think it clicks for her then, too, that this is her father—its the comraderie that makes her realize hes not a stranger. And its a baseline observation from a young kid, because its the first thing she would notice about him, but for Franco it just reinforces that feeling of “this is my kid, i dont want to her to go through what i have, i want to be there for her”. Not… in those particular words in his head but along those lines. From then on when Franco’s more relaxed and warm, because thats around the time when Dusty’s not so jumpy, Fio lets herself warm up to him wholly. Thats her dad!! Even if he leaves often, because he ‘goes on business trips’, thats her dad !
As for Dusty, i think its an awkward teeter totter at first. When Franco shows up, Dusty slams the door shut before opening it because Franco’s RED in the face from hollering in (fake) despair and anger. Because Dusty worries that if Franco’s father found out about Fiorella, something bad would happen. Franco had confided in him before about how Salvatore killed Franco’s biological mother. He figured Sal wouldnt care too much to do similar to Fio, and it makes him sick. The only reason at first he opens the door is to beat Franco to leave, before Franco begs him to hear him out. Spills his guts about how he found out (fabricated btw, he stalked dusty but he says he saw them at a general store lol he sucks) and he’s too far for his father to even know, he’d pay off any of his soldatos if they saw (or kill them). It takes some convincing over the phone later with Franco pulling the pity card (“you really gonna leave our baby girl without her Papa? Really? She deserves to see me!”) <- lie cuz he just wants to see dusty. Hes horrible but he turns for the better guys pleaseeee. Even if Franco comes over in the early days, Dusty keeps the blinds drawn, only lets him come at nighttime before Fio’s bedtime and doesnt want them going out together so they cant be seen. He’s very adamant on this and Franco respects that since he’s been punched by Dusty before, he’s not going to go over that line. Needless to say Dusty takes just enough time as the other two to warm up completely. (Mainly because Fio views Franco as a father now, so he relaxes knowing his baby isnt uncomfortable. And brcause he can tell Franco is trying now and his shoulders are a bit softer and his smiles actually reach his eyes).
Also dont be afraid to send in asks!!! I always love them and i have to walk around my place to calm down because i get so excited someone cares enough to ASK me abt Rosobarbi. My own ship!! Wow!! I always have a blast answering, so even if theyre silly, send them!
