today, i tried out langcorrect !! i love all the writing prompts on there and how kind everyone has been so far (i’ve already gotten corrections!!). and i do want to post more journal entries on here, but posting on a website dedicated to corrections feels like a good start!

⟡ introduction.

みなさん、こんにちは！

私はラムネです。日本語をべんきょうしています。

hey hey !! i'm ramune, a native english speaker, and i'm trying my best to learn japanese. i've studied it on and off for years (emphasis on off), but i've never "locked in," so to speak. so i thought creating this side blog would help me focus. i've studied a heap of other languages, and while i'm fairly decent in french, i've sadly lost motivation for it. i adore the japanese language and culture (as well as anime and manga, of course), so here i am !!

i'll be tracking my progress, achievements, and notes here. also, i'm more than happy to make friends along the way :) don't be afraid to reach out !!

i'm currently using the genki books as well as online resources (youtube, anki/quizlet, etc)

psa: there will be mistakes because i'm a beginner. please feel free to correct me if you spot them lol

i got a new notebook to take my genki notes in !! it's my first dotted notebook. usually i only see the lined ones in store, so this was an awesome find !! and my partner got me one of those pencil buddies, so i have a cute little monkey to hang out with me now.

i finished genki 1 - lesson 4 a couple days ago, but it was a LOT to take in, so i’ve been sitting with it before moving on to lesson 5. any tips on how to cement these rules in my head? haha.

one of my favorite things to do to practice listening comprehension is watch curious george in japanese on youtube. おさるのジョージ！

the videos don't have any subtitles so you're forced to really listen to the speech, and while i don't catch a lot, i'm incredibly excited when i do understand something! plus you learn a lot just by literally watching. i learned the word for rabbit because the characters kept saying the word over and over while looking at a pen of rabbits. うさぎが好きです。

just something i thought i'd share! plus, who didn't like watching curious george as a kid ??

my genki 1 workbook came today !! i currently can’t afford the answer key but i’m hoping i can find resources for that !! anybody got any tips? i’ve been going through the genki lessons with tokini andy’s videos, so i hope i can still make sense of the workbook since they use different examples etc.

today, i wrote a journal entry in my physical notebook fully in japanese! it was a lot longer than the one i posted on here, and i'm really proud of it !! i did the work and checked it, and there was only one sentence i got wrong, so i'm taking this as a win :D

today’s events included restarting my acnh island and changing the language of my nintendo switch to japanese! it’s reaaaaally difficult to read, but i’m trying my best and i’m going to keep at it. plus, it gives me a clear goal to strive for: be able to understand tom nook’s demands!
