European tourists for the world cup going nuts for ranch dressing is something I have enjoyed seeing but let me tell you. Hidden valley doesn't hold a candle to homemade, in my American opinion. Stop in a non-chain or small chain diner and ask for the house ranch. Life changing stuff
I am so entertained by the fact that so many Europeans are going through lengths to bring back Ranch Dressing.
Like at what point did TSA realise that they would be just standing there and watching checked bags getting scanned and they're just....a suitcase of ranch. Like its good, but like its no French onion soup. But I am also entertained by the sheer amount of excitement people have for poptarts, peanut butter, Chobani yogurt and our cereal aisle. The AC is understandable, you guys need, idk, figure out the infrastructure problem you guys have, climate change is here and it gets hotter every year. We get more wild fires here and every year I hear more heat stroke and exhaustion cases for you guys over there. One thing the US is okay for is in big cities there are warming and cooling centers....unless you count a very specific fair that didn't plan on having cooling stations in the middle of fucking summer.
Are the visitors unaware of ranch in it's primeval powder form? Just saw that some airports started selling bottles of ranch dressing after check in when powdered (which has so many more possibilities than just mixing into dressing) is available. This thing is worth like 10 bottles of ranch.
For those tourists who seem to love French dressing but can't bring it to their home countries because TSA
Here is a simple recipe for ranch dressing that you can make when you get back, so long as you have access to a grocery store that has all the ingredients:
1 cup mayonnaise
½ cup sour cream
½ teaspoon dried chives
½ teaspoon dried parsley
½ teaspoon dried dill weed
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
⅛ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions: 1. Gather all ingredients.
2. Whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, chives, parsley, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl until well-combined.
3. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.

see this confuses me because as a European who has lived in the US before, ranch dressing sucks. like it is the worst dressing out there, it's awful. what kind of weirdo likes creamy dressings.
i think it's just such an american experience that the foreign-ness of it draws people in. maybe? i agree with you though. like hot take for a lot of people especially where i am in the southern US but ranch does suck.
ranch is just a very specific concept that apparently strikes gold with a lot of people
i keep seeing europeans talking about ranch dressing and like damn if the rest of europe is so obsessed with it no wonder dan howell compared it to his decade and a half long relationship
