this is a no pressure situation; you can answer all or none whatsoever. i'm just looking to give folks more opportunity to talk about their special guys™. ^^

Question for your Tav/Durge: Imagine this is the dryad scene, but instead, it's your partner answering questions on your character. They are as follow:

Where is Tav/Durge the most comfortable, the place they feel the safest?

What is Tav/Durge's biggest accomplishment, the thing they are the proudest of?

What is Tav/Durge's biggest failure, something that will forever bring them shame?

Going to answer for Josie, and it would be Xarrios (her blacksmith beau) answering the questions :)

Most comfortable and safest place?

Definitely in her 'vessel' via the Bottled Respite spell, available to her as a Genie patron Warlock. All Genie patrons give their warlocks a magical vessel; Josie chose a compartmented ring that is designed to be similar in appearance to the other ones she wears. The spell confers the ability to vanish and enter an extradimensional space within the vessel, and hang out for a bit. You can be pulled out of the vessel if it is destroyed, so she picks her times and places to use it. Chill out time!

Biggest accomplishment?

Probably impressing Raphael enough to get the position as his chamberlain in the House of Hope. And of course keeping her legendary patience and sanity while doing everything working for him. They both sigh deeply. The dryad nods sagely.

Biggest failure/regret?

He would say the main thing that will forever haunt her is not being home when Tess, her younger sister who had a heart condition since birth, died after a long illness. It was just the two of them at that stage in their lives, their parents having passed away some years before. Josie had been out of the house, ostensibly to run errands and get some much needed fresh air, when it happened - and she will forever wish she had chosen to stay at home that morning.

Obligatory devil on your shoulder anon, appearing out of nowhere: I've been rereading the WWI pieces with vamp Chris and got super curious about Tommy, the Brit that seemed weirdly familiar with vampires. If you ever feel like writing about a one-scene-only rando again, I'd love to hear more about Tommy's past, please and thank you!

"Tommy's" real name is Herbert Maurice Acton, called Herbs or Herbie by some of those closest to him. The son of nobility and intended one day to be a Lord in his own right, he was raised in Shropshire, a sparsely populated part of England in his time that led to a mostly-rural upbringing.

He moved to London against his father's wishes and took up a 'dissolute' lifestyle, what might have been considered 'Bohemian' if he'd had any principles behind it and wasn't simply squandering whatever resource was given to him.

Somewhere in this time period, he met a vampire for the first time.

By the time he was 22, when the Great War first began, he was living in a vampire packhouse, providing them with blood in return for the venom he'd taken a liking to. His own father had been far too much in the drink, and so Tommy himself refused everything but the occasional beer or venom, which he believed to be non-addictive, until he discovered it very much was.

By then he didn't care all that much, as long as he got it.

The vampires in the packhouse liked him - he was funny and dry-witted and often had extra coin, and as they couldn't exactly go out and earn an honest living, they liked having someone who could simply walk to the shops during the day and grab something for them all. He bought them a Victrola, which they were mad for, among other things.

Then he was pulled into the war, and off to the front he went.

During much of the war, he found venom where and when he could - seeking it out in the seedier brothels close to wherever he was stationed, paying through the nose with the bits of money he could wheedle his younger sister into secretly sending him.

The Americans joining in the war effort was a godsend for him, not because of any sense that they would be any better fighters than his own people - oh no, despite being an absolute trash raccoon of a person, Herb was quite loyal to merry old England and his place in the aristocracy, which he assumed he could one day simply walk back into - but because the Americans brought vampires with them, a sort of walking medical team and secret weapon. And those vampires weren't the sparking bright dangerous things like the ones he'd known before - no, these were very nearly tame vampires, kept fearful and small by the promise of freedom. Or, well, most of them were. Some of them he still knew well enough to avoid.

Tommy survives the war, somehow. He goes home a shaken man, back to Shropshire to take his place as Lord Acton in due time. He marries a woman he couldn't give two figs about, starts a family, and lives what many might consider to be a pristine life.

But he keeps up his occasional trips to vampire packhouses in London.

And one day, in the future, he is found dead with the telltale mark of fangs at his throat, lying in his own garden.

First Date HCs (Ozy)

Alright. Let’s back it up a bit.

If it’s Ozy you want to date, that’s fine. Just be advised that it’s going to be up to you to ask him out. Even if he’s attracted to you, and likes you a whole lot, it will never cross his mind to ask you on a date. His brain don’t work like that.

When you do ask him out, be very clear that this is not a playdate. If you want to spend time with Ozy outside of the friendzone, you have to be transparent about that from the jump.

He might be a little confused at first, but he’ll accept. Then he’ll go home and do nothing but research about what a first romantic date looks like until he sees you again.

At some point during his studies, he will realize that you asked him out based on a romantic interest in him, which will make him go very soft.

Expect him to show up with a vase of your favorite flowers and a thank you card

Chances are this is not just his first date with you, but his first date ever.

If you let him pick the destination, he’s going to want to take you somewhere loud, crowded, and full of stimuli. Like a carnival, theme park, or the Vesuvian equivalent of an arcade.

He’ll encourage you to select the rides and games that you want to play first. He’ll let you know if a game is rigged and the trick to undermining it.

If you two are playing against each other and you’re winning, he won’t cheat, but he’ll do whatever he can to throw you off. Something like stretching his body in a way that might distract you from missing your mark. If you’re engaged in something like bowling or mini golf, Ozy might suddenly sweep you off your feet and spin you around or playfully tackle you in a hug from behind. He won’t let go or put you down until you’re laughing as hard as he is.

Even if Ozy isn’t trying to trip you up at the games, it’s going to be really hard to concentrate regardless because he’ll be stealing glances when he thinks you’re too focused on your task. He just can’t get over the fact that you would choose him to spend your time with. So he’s going to take any chance he can get to stare at you with those dreamy hazel eyes.

Ozy will be intent on winning all of the big prizes. He’s not opposed to toting them around the park/arcade and flaunting your loot to the passerby.

If he sees you’re getting tired of walking, with your permission, he’ll duck down, pick you up, and lift you onto his shoulders. Regardless of how you’re taking this, he won’t be shy about holding onto your thighs as he traverses the rest of the park.

If he can see you’re a little flustered, but still having a good time, he’ll definitely add more pressure to where he’s holding onto you and look up at you with a slight smirk. If he can get a stronger reaction from you, that smirk will turn into a full on shit-eating grin.

When the night is over, Ozy will follow protocol. He’ll take you home, politely express how much of a good time he had and then gently apologize before seizing you in a very passionate, lingering bear hug. It’s the only way he knows how to express his gratitude for the time you’ve spent with him.

Then he’ll let you go and be on his way. If you want him to stay, you better catch him before he teleports!

Oh, yes, she most emphatically does. Tbh, that’s part of how she’s toughed through everything that’s happened to her; stubborn belief that happy endings have to be possible(and thus maybe, just maybe, there’s one waiting for her), because otherwise there’s no point to anything.

035. What is the most important rule your character lives by?

“Have courage and be kind” (Cinderella would be her favorite princess, ngl)

051. If they knew they would die tomorrow, what would they do today?

Hug all her friends. Especially Aloth. (*tries not to think about their lifespan disparity*) Make and eat several batches of Darkest Rauatai Cookies. Cuddle her dog.

083. What is the first thing they say and/or do when they wake up?

Probably pets Lottie/ruffles her ears/croons sleepy nonsense at her bc that dog sleeps with her nine nights out of ten

092. What emotion does your character evoke in others?

There is a level of awe when they first meet her, I think, simply due to her being an aumaua moon-godlike, so she’s TALL and GLOWING. Otherwise she tries to inspire calm and peace and friendship, that sort of thing, and she’s largely successful.
