How does one be homophobic, racist, fatphobic, sexist—like, any of that? I genuinely do not understand. Why does someone else enjoying their life diminish the enjoyment of your own? Why is the idea that someone who isn't an exact photocopy of you deserves the right to exist without your criticism so unfathomable to you? How, realistically, are they affecting you? And why—if they affected you, hypothetically—would that be a bad thing in the first place? You're not going to combust. You're not going to 'catch' whatever they are like a disease by just interacting with them. I just don't understand how you can genuinely hate something or someone just because they're different. And rather than try to do research, or find out 'why' they're different, you instead decide to act like a caveman in the face of fire and put them out. Makes absolutely no sense.
