So, I got tagged in a reader’s questionnaire by @randomittys, thank you =)
1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest?
Well, I don’t throw away any books, or give them away, I just lend them, so the longest would have been Harry Potter series because that’s the series which got me reading.
2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next?
Current Read - Thunder Point by Jack Higgins
Next Read - The brief history of the dead by Kevin Brockmeier
Last Read - A matter of honour by Jeffrey Archer
3. Which book does everyone like and you hated?
I haven’t really read a book I hated to be honest, but then I haven’t read the Twilight series haha.
4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?
Dan Brown books. I hope to read them though, but currently I already have many in pipeline.
5. Which book are you saving for “retirement?”
Probably I haven’t even come across them yet.
6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end?
Wait till the end definitely, haha, no spoilers.
7. Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?
I’d prefer to give acknowledgements if I ever write a book, because I’d definitely want to give a shout out to those who inspired me to write it.
8. Which book character would you switch places with?
Every book I read I imagine myself as a certain character in that book, so as to feel the book coming to life, haha. But yes, I would gladly switch places with Severus Snape in Harry Potter series.
9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?
Quite a few I guess, but definitely worth mentioning here is The Alchemist and Manual of the warrior of light by Paulo Coelho (so many instances I could relate to)
10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone - I always used to run away from reading, Mom got me books and I never read them, so one of my cousins had this first book of Harry Potter and he left it at my place, in my room, where he was sure I’d find it. I ignored it for days but once I started it, the reading never stopped and I still have that book too.
11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?
Yes, twice. One to my younger sister, she loves to read too. Second, to a couple of my students when they got pretty good result.
12. Which book has been with you to the most places?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I wouldn’t want to part with that book, I have to find it among the mess in my room.
13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad ten years later?
Harriet The Spy
14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book?
None except scribbled notes or bookmarks.
15. Used or brand new?
Both, yes. Brand new because I certainly like the smell of new books and they make me feel proud haha. Used because I feel like that book has a come a long way to fnally get to me and creates a sense of belonging, like finding a long lost pet (pretty weird I guess)
16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses?
I haven’t yet read him, how cruel of me I guess. On writing is on the cards though.
17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?
Maybe I’d make The Hobbit, the only exception here I guess, because I loved all 3 movies.
18. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to the screens?
None I can think of at the moment.
19. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?
Haha, not really, I can get hungry just like that.
20. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?
My little sister, Joca (I like to call her that) and my cousin
21. Do you dog ear your books? Do you underline/write stuff in your books?
Not really, and not a fan of it either, haha. I feel books are too precious to be written in to. I’d rather anybody wrote in a notebook or something.
