Retail Fashion Range Plan

This was a demonstration of my skills learned in Multimedia and Graphic Design and time in the Retail Fashion industry while applying for a design role within a company in Melbourne.

Just to note, this was before commencing the Bachelor of Fashion Sustainability & Business at COLLARTS. So, this was without any training in range plans or technical drawings. This was a work of being in proximity to range plans and product graphics within the company I was working for.

"It can be easy to get carried away with the maths of it all… if there are 40 looks and about 3 garments per look then that’s 120 garments that need to be designed, pattern made, cut, fit, altered, sewn etc… and you may begin to think that you simply can’t compete with that size of collection. The truth is though that when you actually break some of the collections down, the clever designers can manage to get maximum impact from far less than 120 separate garments." -The Cutting Class

For range plans, there are certain price brackets created. For luxury brands, majority of the garments would be in the higher price range, and vice versa for high street brands.

Minor Project - Clothes Show Live

I've finally finished my minor projects for University in which we had to choose two competition briefs. The first one I choose was the Clothes Show Young Designer of the Year in which we had to create a red carpet look for a celebrity. I choose to design for Carey Mulligan, as her slight, pretite frame means that she doesn't often opt for the full length styles and instead I could create a fun, feminine dress.

Looking at horticultural imagery, floral prints and fifities prom dresses, I came up with the above boards.
