So what are wakko and dot doing in the lion king au?
Alright, so I’ve been thinking about this a lot. And Wakko and Dot serve the same purpose as Nala does.
(Max too because I’m yax trash and also because im dumb and didnt think this far yet)
nsdjnsdkjsd sorry for no art, but i’ve been busy and I’m like 2 seconds away from opening a document and writing a fic for this because drawing all this is hard
Hey, so I'm reading the Odyssey for the first time (the translation by Emily Wilson) and I'm suprised by how much I'm actually liking it. I've been in an ancient greek mood lately (just finished reading Circe by M. Miller) and I was wondering if there's something you'd recommend for someone that's new to reading these sort of classic? I know I gotta read the Illyad too but what other good ones are there? (Sorry if this is a bother, I'm just curious bout your opinion, you seek to know stuff)
not a bother! definitely the iliad, personally i like the odyssey better but everyone has their own personal choice. if you like the iliad and the odyssey you’ll probably also like the aeneid, which is roman! i don’t know specific translations for either of those though, i only know who i’m annoyed at (i’m annoyed at lattimore and fagles). so sorry about that but i’m SURE followers can recommend.
i also think ovid’s metamorphoses is a good one, it’s a bunch of different myths so you can pick and choose.
my own expertise is largely in greek theater so of course i HAVE to recommend antigone. oedipus rex is also a classic and very good. other plays i like are aeschylus’s oresteia (which is technically three plays) and euripides’ bacchae. i also liked alcestis a lot
and if you want just... a groundwork for greek myth i recommend hesiod’s theogony. hesiod has some weird ideas (mostly in works and days, which i don’t remember as well) but theogony outlines, like, the godly family trees and stuff and it’s lots of fun. it’s like... the origins of a lot of the stories in d’aulaire’s book of myths or whatever else you read as a kid
but i’m just an undergrad right now and i’m sure we have followers more qualified to recommend things so! followers, what did i miss? check the notes for whatever they say
i’ll do both! spoilers for the entire main storyline though so proceed with caution!
How I feel about this character
i like both of them very much! i think they’re both very sweet, polite boys who grew up in the shadow of very well-respected fathers, and it was really fun to watch them grow into their responsibilities and roles. it’s easy to see why eivor has such affection for both of them, and why they latched onto eivor in like an older sister/younger brother kind of way.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
ceolbert: honestly nobody in the game? he deserved to have a nice love interest but that just never came up so i don’t have anybody in mind. just a nice person who treats him right!
hunwald: swanburrow ofc! they are very sweet together <3
My non-romantic OTP for this character
EIVOR! also, for ceolbert: randvi! i loved that he came back and got to learn from her for a bit. wish he could have just stayed. in my head there will always be a version of the storyline where sigurd or ubba took ceolbert under their tutelage instead of fucking ivarr.
also, the way eivor sobbed when hunwald died broke my fucking heart.
My unpopular opinion about this character
ceolbert: i wish he had a different name. i keep having to check back to make sure i’m not confusing him with ceolwulf. and i don’t think the crazy warrior + good christian boy dynamic between ceolbert and ivarr really landed for me. i wasn’t surprised at all when it was revealed that ivarr killed ceolbert, because i didn’t think ivarr really liked him as much as he said he did.
hunwald: it took me a while to warm up to hunwald... i think by the point i did his arc there were just so goddamn many bright-eyed innocent little saxon puppet kings that eivor helped gain power that i was just like... ok... here we go again i guess. i liked him by the end of the arc though! he grew up a lot but didn’t lose his optimism.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
ceolbert: i wish that, after ledecesterscire, ceolbert had gone with ubba instead; they would have made more sense together. ivarr could still have had his stupid sciropescire war, and you could still have the narrative weight of ceolbert’s death in the hamtunscire arc alongside ubba (although... oof. we don’t need another character death in that arc...)
hunwald: i wish the choice of who you made ruler in lincolnscire affected who died in the hamtunscire arc. it would have been cool to have that other dude killed in the final battle, and then instead of reporting hunwald’s death to swanburrow, eivor returns to ravensthorpe to tell hunwald that lincolnscire is without a ruler, and then hunwald gets to rule.
Hey, I just found this game, i was wondering if you could maybe tell me if theres someone out there that does tutorials on how to play? I haven't been able to find much but maybe I'm using the wrong terms (I've never read any of the world of darkness books or whatever, my research has been a little... confusing)
I am happy to help! I can give you a walkthrough myself if you like. And you just gave me a new idea for a series of tutorial posts, so thank you! Feel free to message me and I’ll help you get started!
17. Has CR helped you get through any tough times (loss of a loved one, quarantine, etc.)?
Critical Role has certainly been getting me through this quarantine. (I’d be dead of boredom without it) It also gave me something to look forward to when I was having a rough time at University. I have been watching Critical Role for 3 years now and I love how I can always go back to it when I have time.
43. What’s your favorite Sam ad?
The one where Sam did drawings of everyone’s characters was hilarious especially as the quality of drawing went down. (I think that was in late Campaign 1)
Also this one:
After Scanlan was killed and was unRevivify-able for the fight: Hey guys, now that I don’t have to play. I’m playing Marvel Puzzle Quest.
Prompt: fjord and kiri, teaching her something (like how to swim or fish or like tie shoes whatever you want). They need more interactions
(This ended up being a group story, but I made sure there’s hefty amounts of Fjord!)
“I am friendly,” Mollymauk reads in a calm voice.
“I am friendly,” Kiri repeats. As the cart hits a bump in the road, her light body is dislodged from its perch on the pile of blankets. Without looking away from the reigns, Fjord throws an arm out behind him to keep her from tipping over.
“I am lost,” Mollymauk continues. “Please take me to the nearest temple.”
“I am lost. Please take me to the nearest temple.” Kiri peeks over the edge of the phrasebook Molly is holding, trying to determine how much more there is to go.
Molly notices. “Almost halfway, love,” he promises. “I’m skipping the shopping and bartering sections, we’re only doing the important bits.”
“Good girls do their course work,” Kiri says in Jester’s voice, and Molly nods in solemn agreement. “And then good girls get dessert!”
Fjord chuckles. “I knew that second part was comin’.”
**
Nott trains Kiri how to escape larger opponents, and Fjord is the ‘bad guy’ she has to get away from.
After half an hour, Jester is the one to heal the talon scratches on Fjord’s arm. Caleb turns out to be the one to get Kiri down from the tree and reassure her that nobody is mad.
Beau is the one to heap extra portions onto Kiri’s plate that night at the camp fire. That seems to get the last bit of the guilt out of her system. Kiri sits up a little straighter on her log after that, feet kicking out as she holds the plate with tiny hands.

“You hook it enough that it stays on there, but you also want some danglin’, to move around and attract the fish.” Fjord puts his worm on his hook, then holds it up for Kiri to see.
“I’ll try,” Kiri says in Yasha’s uncertain voice, and rummages in the little bowl of dirty worms for just the right one. Her fingers are a little clumsy, sharp, but Molly insists that he’s heard of her folk being extremely dexterous and able to do detailed artisinal work. Maybe it will come with age, Fjord thinks, as she jams the head onto the hook and then winds some more of the body around it. Shyly, she looks up at him.
“Try pokin’ one more part on there to make sure he doesn’t fall off when he gets in the water.”
“One more part,” Kiri echoes, and fiddles a bit until she’s done so. When she holds it out and a decent amount of the worm is still dangling away from the hook, she poofs up proudly.
“Good! Good. Now, casting, the most important part of this whole thing, are you paying attention? Good. It’s lookin’ around to make sure you’re not gonna catch anybody sitting next to you, any overhanging trees…” He makes a show of looking up and around and behind him, even though they camped about twenty feet down the lake’s edge. Kiri does the same, eventually nudging her beak questioningly at Fjord himself. “Right. So, I put my rod out like this, away from you, so when it swings…” He throws the line out in a smooth arc. “So you do that, but in the other direction.”
Kiri shuffles nervously, adjusting her grip on the too-big rod, looking around again, before clicking several times as if to psych herself up. She holds the rod to her left, arcing it with not quite enough inertia, only getting it a few feet into the water. A sad click.
“No, that was good!” Fjord beams and pats her on the head. “You did good. You didn’t hurt anybody, and there’s little fish up where you cast yours. We can turn those into bait for even bigger ones.”
“Even bigger ones.” Kiri re-poofs.
**
They keep the biggest perch she catches. Yasha cooks it and cuts it into a few strips, and as Kiri eats it Fjord is grinning from pointed ear to pointed ear.

Beau retakes her spot at the pub table. “Talked with the bartender. There’s a poor house at the north side of town.”
Jester gives her a confused look before understanding crosses her face. She nods, sighing and deflating. “We’ll check it,” she says reluctantly, nudging Caleb to add it to his mental to-do list for tomorrow. They probably won’t find any Kenku family there, and they almost definitely won’t decide it’s suitable to leave Kiri at, but they still make themselves check.
“Bier,” Kiri says in Caleb’s voice, tilting her head towards Nott’s mug with a mix of curiosity and hopefulness.
“No,” Nott says gently, and pats her head. Kiri clicks and leans into it.
