My Name is Derek Hale page 23 - in which Stiles' face narrowly misses a fateful meeting with destiny (destiny being rafe's fist) and i strongly considered having Rafe tuck his thumb, but figured hopefully a federal agent, even half-drunk, knows how to properly punch lol

#teen wolf#stiles stilinski#sterek#webcomic#raphael mccall#My Name is Derek Hale#my art#[wikihow man wiping sweat from brow.png]#finally the punch scene is done!!#i redid the panel layouts of this and the previous page so many times#can you tell i love the way ONE and Murata panel one punch man lol#went back and forth on whether to use sound effects in the 5th panel so many times when doing the layout and ultimately decided not to#(saves the draft of this post as i'm writing these tags to go back and add the sound effect bc actually i changed my mind AGAIN)#also tweaked the speech bubbles of the last panel to overlap a bit more#wanted derek to come off as very insisting in this panel hehehe#keep your hands off the intruiging little shit rafe!#also when deciding on the pacing and angles of the punch i deliberately made it very intense#because a lot of people i've talked to who have been punched in the face describe it as a thing that actually changes your world view#like 'there's a before and after i was punched in the face'#at least when it's not in the middle of a fight where you're high on adreanaline and not registering everything correctly#but an out-of-the blue punch to the face?#even with the canon-levels of violence in the show#I think it'd be a pretty rattling experience#so i wanted to have this reflect that :)#and if you're thinking 'mel why do you know so many people who have been punched in the face' my degree is in healthcare-#-and have the kind of demeanor that makes people want to tell me all kinds of shit i guess haha#a supervisor once told me 'you're probably one of the only students that get an honest response about drug use out of so many patients' lol#anyway some deep mel lore drop on this page pff#usually schedule for later in the day to try and give everyone a chance to catch this on their feed but i'm always so excited to post-#-so you get it early and i'm gonna do a timezone reblog for later bc i just remembered that's a thing i can do lol
