For years I had a gap in the collection for Covellite “Pink Fire” included in Quartz. Instead of buying a subpar one I commissioned a friend in Brazil to find the mine owner. He is an elusive old man without a phone, who you must get lucky to find in the market in Valadares, convince him you aren’t going to screw him around, promise to spend $10,000, and go visit him in his home village 4 hours away. After a year or two of waiting, we finally got lucky. Covellite is uncommon on its own, but included in quartz like this it only comes from one small deposit in the world owned by this elusive old man. We not only got to add a few exceptional pieces to the collection, but we now have stock to offer. They will go to japan for some mineral shows that I exhibit at this year.
