Snippet from the interview on anan: How Zakki (Suo's VA) briefly described the trio's relationship. (Please excuse the blurry pic I saved this one since forever)

"Nirei would like to stand beside Sakura and see him reach the top up close, so he's giving his wholehearted support to Sakura; and for Suou, perhaps he wants to stay right by Sakura's side and watch him all the time. Sakura is still clumsy, but he keeps going on his path so straightforwardly, and to Suou, that Sakura is so dazzling he can't take his eyes off. At first glance, these three seem to be completely different, but deep inside, they resonate at heart and push each other to greater heights. Their relationship is truly wonderful."

It's still quite... baffling to me that it appears the majority of the fandom seems to agree that Suo was in complete "wrong" during Sakura's sick chapter while Nirei was right.

Their upbringing and their experience led to different methods and approaches, but they both thought of Sakura. Suo was not wrong in wanting to respect Sakura's comfort zone. Nirei was not wrong when wanting to step in and help Sakura.

In this case, I would say that they both compromised and took a step back with their approaches. And the result was that they asked Kotoha for help. Kotoha's assistance definitely was not a justification that Nirei was right after all and Suo was completely wrong. It was their compromise.

Suo took a step back and agreed that Sakura needed help not just sleeping over the cold alone. Nirei took a step back and agreed that they could not force their way beyond Sakura’s comfort zone to help him directly.

They asked Kotoha to help for a reason. Kotoha is not their classmate, so she is not someone who is directly under Sakura's command. Sakura wouldn't feel that responsibility of the class rep when it comes to Kotoha. She is the third perspective outside of the class who could provide the input and help that Sakura needed, which none of her classmates would have been able to.

Niisato has said quite a few times as well, that they're glad both the two vice-captains were there for Sakura. There was no dismissal or preference for either way of thinking, and both were necessary for Sakura at the time.
