Business
There’s an Indian dessert called rasgulas. They’re these balls made out of milk curd that are then boiled in sugar syrup. It’s a traditional favorite across the Indian subcontinent, especially in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
I learned to make them a few months ago and as with everything I learn to cook, I put my own twist on the recipe. Ever since, most everyone I’ve given rasgulas to has loved them. I brought a bunch to work the other day and everyone was swooning over them (half the people at the office are desi, but everyone is familiar with Indian food nonetheless).
Personally, I’m very critical towards my own cooking. But a lot of people have told me that the rasgulas I made are the best they’ve ever had. Like I said, I put my own twist on the recipe with a few secret ingredients that I thought would complement it well.
I thought people were just being nice, but seriously, a LOT of people have said mine were the best they’ve ever had. A lot of desi people of various ages have told me that mine are “better than the ones back home.” My friend’s mom’s eyes light up when I bring her a batch. So I was thinking of marketing my recipe and making some money off of it.
But where would I even begin? How do I know my recipe would sell well? I know nothing about business and while companies do sell rasgulas in the US, they’re mostly companies based in Pakistan and India, I believe.
