Still can't, how wasted this storyarc was. It might be my personal hangup, but it is another case of sentient machine killed off/removed from the story in popculture; like - no one has idea how to handle that, so better scrap it and bother no more.
Buena pinta el Stray 2.
Y encima sale Rasputín.
I understand why The King’s Man is not as popular as the first two, but guys it is still slick and gay and weird AF.
My favorite thing is that while the father doesn’t mind asking his son to seduce a psychopath, the son certainly doesn’t mind witnessing his father (presumably) getting fucked by the said psychopath.
So my conclusion is that the entire Kingsman franchise is just about the homoerotic charm of older English gentlemen……
Agony aka Rasputin (1981)
This is a Destiny lore thought I've always had kicking around and with the amount you've done with the old Hunter rat pack I'm curious to get your take on it: you ever think maybe Rasputin let Cayde-6 find that cloaking tech for Bladedancers? People try to steal from Red all the time and usually fail. What if Rasputin was curious what Guardians would do with it? Or what if Cayde had a little more of a conversation with Red than he ever let on?
Oooh, that's an interesting theme! Hunter rat pack tho asdhkjashdk 😂 Yeah, I've been thinking about this… I don't think Cayde was outright lying, but I also don't believe it's 100% true. I don't see any reason for Tevis to make such fun of it, if it was true. He specifically highlights it as the most ridiculous thing Cayde ever said, yet never specifies why.
Maybe Cayde just… embellished the story, like he often does. I'm pretty sure the gang had some encounter(s) with either a part of Big Red himself or some of his bunkers/facilities, because the way all of them randomly bring him up sounds like some inside joke/story we don't get. Andal was CONSTANTLY making fun of Cayde calling him Rasputin, Cayde drops that info about the stealth tech, Tevis claims Red told him he doesn't care about Guardians, City or Traveler… Even Shiro shows up for the first time during the SIVA crisis and ends up handling the tech so well he makes a freaking SIVA gun.
Also, I think the chance Red would've actively and willingly helped Guardians before he reunited with Ana is extremely low. Tevis was pretty much on point with that quote, imo:
Rasputin isn't an ally. You hear me, blood? You find yourself thinking that, you shut it down. He may not be against us, but he doesn't care if you live, if the City lives, if the Traveler lives.
The only thing he cared about was ✨Humanity✨ and Guardians for a long time was kinda excluded from it for him (or counted as the most dangerous/least important in the terms of survivability part of it), until the regret for killing Felwinter got to him he collected enough data to change his opinion. On the other hand, if Cayde & (presumably) the gang really did steal the stealth tech from him, he could've decided to kinda let them go and see what they'd do with it, like you said. (Pretty sure in that case it was Shiro who made it work).
I genuinely feel bad for finding Rasputin attractive– And I swear it's not only because of being «Russian's greatest love machine» even if I would go to the museum and see it
