Under the cut!
I have a very good PC with a NVIDIA card. I have a bit of CC and a lot of mods and my game started pinkflashing a bit. When I installed the game I made sure to install the 4gb patch and all that so I didn't understand. I did almost everything on that huge list about pinkflashing and nothing. What helped me like a charm was to include a simple thing in the graphics rule maker file. I followed @episims tutorial. It's like magic. I think that only works for NVIDIA cards btw
OK great to know, I am actually shying away from NVidia this time around, so that might not be a problem, but this is very helpful!

I run TS2 on Windows 10 and here’s the thing - my modern Maxis Match game? I *never* get pink flashing. Ever. Only on my medieval game, which is where I use loads and loads and loads of CC (and fancy realistic CC too!). I’ve found that by cutting down a lot, that helped. Another thing that helped was making sure I installed the 4G patch properly, *not* using Gunmod’s lighting mod (I use the one from my MM game + Almighty Hat’s on top), and then playing with the in game settings to tone it down.
Yeah it might be early to say but I think my games will always be historical, I’d also be devastated if I couldn’t use Gunmod’s mod as I still prefer it to all others. I’ll have to keep this in mind.

Microsoft fixed a lot of what was initially causing my pink flashes, as it was bad for many games besides just sims. However, I did have issues with random crashing and the 4g patch fixed those. That is something you will want for sure.
This is EXCELLENT news! I was hoping that Microsoft would actually step up and address this as I knew it was affecting other old games. This really takes a load off and I feel much better about potential W10 now.

I supringsinly had minimal problems. I only had pink flashing once and thats because I tried to be extra with my graphics when my computer could not handle it. I have 17 to 18 gb of cc, I hoard it don't judge me. My game runs smoothly as well. However, make sure to keep up with your graphic drivers and have things like the 4gb patch.
Haha I’d never judge you for that ;)

W10 since february and I never had a problem, it's a good surprise for me. I installed the 4gb patch and cff explorer. W10 keeps asking me if all is ok when I close the game, and it is. But I have only about 3 gb dl at the moment.
Excellent!

I run windows 10 and have never had problems. Something about my specs must be ideal for sims 2?
You must have the magic build, lol. I’m glad it’s been smooth sailing for you.
Thanks All who responded. I’m feeling a bit better about moving to Windows 10 in the future now. And thanks to all the people who tested and posted results to help others through the mire of issues. Feels better knowing that I won’t necessarily have to write off my favorite game in the future.
