the cis people thing feels similar to when people are like 'oh yeah men are naturally abusive/toxic/rude/etc' when its like no men are not actually innately bad and saying so absolves the bad ones of their bad behavior AND is gender essentialist and shitty but thats a slightly different conversation
yeah i definitely agree! and im not trying to be Not All Cis People here—i dont have any problem with people making jokes about hating cis people—but i think its important that we dont seriously treat cis people being transphobic as something thats normal or natural or inevitable, because that excuses that behavior and absolves them of taking responsibility for their transphobia and doing better
