part II: tribes in hsu

i’ve already made several posts about the tribes in my au, but i’m going to make one more so that everything is in one place.

so without further ado…

TRIBES! 

the main thing to know about my au is that instead of species, like botw, the Gorons, Rito, Zora, Hylians, Sheikah, and Gerudo are all tribes. They are groups of people that usually share characteristics, like wings for the Rito, but you will often find people like Wemmbu, a demon/dragon hybrid with wings, in the Gorons, who mainly do not have wings and aren’t purple. people can be adopted into tribes, but most are born in. 

Species still exist—Parrot is a bird hybrid (specifically a parrot (duh)), MinuteTech is a voidling, along with Spoke, Mapicc is a demon hybrid, etc. However, species doesn’t determine your tribe, but depending on the tribe you may be treated differently based on your species or abilities (like Wifies and his lack of wings in the Rito). 

okay. time for the in-depth explanations about the tribes.

zora: 

the zoras typically have fish or aquatic features/abilities, and their main weapons are spears and tridents. 

zora clothing is lightweight for speed, and is usually in more pastel colors in shades of blue, teal, and purple. clothing also contains lots of ruffles, pearls, and shells. zoras are typically the fanciest and most delicate when it comes to clothing. 

zora fighting styles mainly focus on speed and grace, and are well suited for aquatic combat. there is a lot of importance around fighting styles and appearance in the tribe, which is why jaden got so much hate for using a mace (heavy hitting weapon), and for wearing darker colors. 

food in the zora tribe contains a lot of fish, as they live near the water, and fresher ingredients. 

in the zora tribe, there is a lot of emphasis on fitting in and keeping to yourself. people who tend to be louder are outcasted, and are often given lower level jobs and homes.

gorons: 

the gorons are known for being the most inclusive tribe, so much so that there aren’t any specific traits that are common within the tribe, other than horns/tails which are common in the area. gorons are known for their friendliness and hospitality. 

because gorons live so close to death mountain (a volcano), they have a much greater resistance to heat and extreme temperatures. this can also be amplified depending on the different species within the tribe, such as Wemmbu (he has more heat resistance due to the dragon and demon heritage). 

goron clothing is a melting pot of different styles, due to the combination of different species and outcasted members from other tribes who brought their sense of style to the Gorons. however, most clothing is lightweight and breathable due to the heat, and most jewelry is kept to a minimum for the same reason. gorons are also scavengers, so most of their stuff is handmade and simple.

goron food is spicy. like really spicy. it also contains a lot of meats, poultry, potatoes, and grains/other plants that grow well in the volcanic ash. typically their food is warm due to a lack of ice, but you can find the occasional cool drink or meal. 

goron fighting styles tend to be more heavy hitting, but for the same reasons as the diverse clothing, goron fighting styles are often combinations of two or more different styles. wemmbu combines a mace and elytra (wings), as well as orbitals. tnt cannons and carts are often seen as well, but carting is usually a rito style on its own.

rito: 

ritos, unlike gorons, tend to have more strict standards on what makes someone a rito. while this isn’t true for all rito, not having wings can completely change the way you are treated in the tribe, and is usually a reason that people are outcasted. 

most rito have birdlike features, most commonly wings. due to their location on the map (north and cold), they have more resistance to cold temperatures, which is commonly influenced by their feathers. 

rito are archers, which is their main fighting style. this could range from carting to just bow-spamming enemies from the back of the line. rito are also scavengers for food and other resources. they will typically hunt for their meals.

food in the rito tribe is also spicy, but less so than the gorons. rito eat lots of soups and dairy heavy foods, and their food focuses on flavor. food often contains poultry and other meats. almost all rito food is warmed. 

rito clothing is typically made up of cloaks and scarves/other warm clothing. their clothing is also made for stealth and archery, as well as containing many pockets for scavenging and hunting. each rito family has an embroidery pattern that is unique to them, and is typically worn on cloaks and scarves. wifies’s design is a white wind pattern similar to minecraft flow trims. gerudo: 

the gerudo are known for being the most all around skilled warriors in all of hyrule. as opposed to who they are in botw, the gerudo are not all women, just a tribe of highly skilled warriors. 

gerudo are adaptable fighters, typically being skilled in one or two different styles but not specializing in any specific one (this isn’t true for all gerudo, just most). 

the main criteria to be adopted into the gerudo tribe is potential. even if someone isn’t a great fighter currently, if they have potential, they may still be brought in. 

due to the gerudo living in the desert, they have a larger resistance to dry heat and sunshine. their clothing is typically lightweight due to the heat, and is commonly accented in lots of gold and jewels. 

food in the gerudo tribe is made up of scavenged food, due to them living in the desert. gerudo eat a lot of curry, a lot of fruits, and some spicier foods.

hylians: 

hylians are mostly regular humans without hybrid features like other tribes. however, you can find hybrids and other species in the hylian tribe. 

food in the hylian tribe is a blend of all the cuisines across the map, but they are more “hylianized”— less spicy, more or less flavor depending on the dish, sweeter, etc. 

clothing tends to be basic, everyday clothing. 

most hylians don’t have a fighting style, but the ones that do typically use a sword and shield like they would in the Hyrule Guard.

sheikah: 

the sheikah are the last remaining members of an ancient tribe that follows certain rules and rituals. the ancient sheikah created the towers, shrines, and guardians. 

sheikah food is similar to that of the zoras because it is homegrown. sheikah clothing is very similar to what sheikah wear in-game, with white robes accented in red and navy blue.
