While some girls prepare for how they will react when their beloved finally proposes to them, Catherine spent several years of her life imagining how she would react when she saw a ghost. Of course she liked to think she would be clever, demand an explanation or scream words about god and the devil, but she knew herself too well -- a bone chilling scream was the most likely option.

And yet, despite all these years of preparation, she could not have conceived the words that fell from her lips. “What a beautiful dress!” she exclaimed, charmed by the sight.
