Tumblr only shows images up to 2048px width resolution

Tumblr unfortunately does not display high resolution images within a blog, even when you open the image in a new browser tab. This unfortunately only works in the dashboard and only if you know how:

Click on the image (an image view will open), then right-click (Windows computer) on the image and select "Open image in new tab". Voilà, the mouse pointer has turned into a magnifying glass in the new tab and you can now see the image in a bigger resolution. But Tumblr still refuses to show it in the full size, the maximum will be 2048 pixels width, not more!

But what if the post with the high resolution images was made a long time ago and therefore you can't access it in the dashboard anymore? 

There is a feature that allows you to open a post into the dashboard view (small icon that looks like an eye). 

You can view any post from any blog in the dashboard view at any time and have all the options there that only exist in the dashboard (e.g. add comments to the post, reblog, etc.).

Only then the display of high resolution images larger than the screen as described above works and you can download it from this view.

La toute dernière? Norvège en janvier… Celle-ci c’est le raw non développé, je poste l’edit à part tout de suite… :)

Sinon vraiment la vraie dernière c’est celle-ci avec mon iPhone depuis le ferry entre la Norvège et le Danemark.

How to fix RAW images on tumblr: Delete Tumblr -> Move to DeviantArt -> Move to anywhere else that is not Tumblr. And no, this is not a joke nor sarcasm.

I mean, that’s a little bit too extreme, even for my standards.

I guess you can have the same type of reach with sites like DeviantArt, but they are also not exempt of their own issues.

The tag function, for example. It won’t let you see recent pictures tagged with “#cat”, it will only show galleries tagged with “#cat”; or worse, you need to pay for a Core account to access the cool features.

Tumblr’s reach is more palpable in some aspects than the rest of their possible competitors.
