──── ( @razumov. ///. Continued. )
𝐈𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘, 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐎𝐒, 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋. Observant & logical ──── that was why she despised the world. She saw it for what it was & what it had to offer. Her head tilts at the compliment, though nothing in the statement serves as one; she'll excavate it anyway. Alexis had been weaving threads since high school. They followed her into college, just like her habit of smoking. Tiny crumbs of evidence she had left behind, ones that could never be used to indict her, because she knew how to sell a story: a teenage girl obsessed with Joker & following him around through all his crime sprees was... obsessive. Maladjusted. But one who took on the task, valiantly, might she add, to understand a madman that tormented Gotham City like a harbinger of death & decay...? Well, now her interest isn't creepy, but proof of what she sacrificed ──── herself for Gotham.
& Gotham delights in a spectacle: young & brave, she sought out a monster. Someone who fell into the darkness, she attempted to understand; an investigative journalist angle, a podcast, lies that make her seem logical & curious in his ideology rather than entranced with the inner workings of his world. It had been easy. They made it easy; they believe what they wanted to believe. The audience was never innocent. Who she is now is the product of Joker's manipulations...?
──── HA ! As if. She was the one who bullied her classmates into submission ( Doxxing, harassing, physical fights ─ call it whatever you want ), she made them switch schools, drop out, run away, hide, jump off the ledges; She's the one who had a hitlist in high school & killed everyone on it just as she planned while miles away at College; the one who narrowed down Joker's whereabouts on the fated day they'd met, & the meeting after that too.
❝ You're funny, you know that? ❞ Condescension dripping from each syllable. The air smelled rotten; she wasn't sure if it was her blend of noxious toxins or just Gotham at its finest, really. Amusement danced in her eyes, light & airy, horrid words slipped past her grinning teeth. ❝ Names are sentimental metadata; Alphabetical order would imply they matter ──── they don't. They're just bait whose value depends entirely on engagement levels. ❞
Alexis Kaye was many things, but sloppy was never one of them. Keeping a ledger of those she'd kill was an obvious choice ( Lest someone's great-great-great-grand nephew decides filial piety matters on a random Tuesday & attempts revenge ), but an Alphabetical list? No. No, these people didn't matter based on who they were ──── they mattered based on how many likes their deaths got. Who got news coverage, who disappeared into the paper, who got milked as some kind of martyr, who got consumed into some anti - violence propaganda slop & spat out as a hero; that's what mattered. She most definitely remembered that. She didn't make video recordings or snuff films; she catalogued based on impact & ROI.
Folding her hands in front of her, she leaned back against the ledge, her favourite butterfly knife's metal handle glinting. By now, she'd have mutilated someone ─ an eye lost, a finger, maybe a stab wound to the thigh or throat slit ( the way she had done to that fucking has - been Harley Quinn ), but she was actually enjoying this conversation too much to let blood spill just yet.
❝ What about yours? trophies? waste? evidence or a doctrine? ❞ Her smile thinned, curious now, almost surgical. ❝ You talk like someone who’s already decided where the dead belong. ❞

I LOVE ART. I'm having crushes on all the women from the paintings. Thank you , Razumov.
