Hey so when did RBT training include AI?
Being autistic isn’t s hard but you know what’s a lot harder?
When no one else in your family has it so whenever you have a problem that shouldn’t be so bad but thanks to your disability, it is,
Mom doesn’t get it. Dad doesn’t get it. Your sister doesn’t get it. Grandpa definitely doesn’t get it. Even your cool relatives don’t get it. And when you try to explain it to them, they try to make it look like you’re wrong or it’s not that big a deal or you’re misinformed or you’re overreacting.
I am in tears right now. I’ve been in training to become an RBT because I want to help children with autism have better lives than mine. But now I’m realizing a lot of autistic people have issues with ABA therapy because it teaches kids how to mask and not how to be as independent and successful as possible and,
I do not want to be the reason some autistic child grows up to be an angry bitter and traumatized adult like I am today. Because all these years of masking have done nothing to help me and I’m seeing this.
But when I tell my family I don’t want to continue with the program because of this? “But you’re almost done, you should finish anyway! At least give it a try!”
No!
I cannot do this anymore. This was the only option lined up for me for a career and now I don’t know what I’m gonna do to pay my rent.
I will put battery acid in my eyes before I go back to retail or food service and I will do worse than that if someone suggests one more fucking time that I should try to find work at Disney World.
I’m tired. I wanna curl up and die.
I just wish there was somebody in my life that understands where I’m coming from because I can’t talk to my family about this. I feel like I’m screaming and nobody’s hearing me.
When you’re taking a practice test for a course and the questions are filled with terms the class hasn’t told you about.
