Confession:
"i wish there were more skin tone options in the legend of the willow like ik its based in old japan but its still a fictional story a bit of melanin wont kill anyone ... story still ate tho 🤧"
Me when I think my face doesn't show how much I dislike the person who's talking, their ideas and the whole discussion :
To sum up and to celebrate six years, a few top-3 for RC from me.
Top-3 most favorite stories:
1. Legend of the willow
2. Code Blue*
3. Hell or high water OR Theodora**
Top-3 most favorite LIs:
1. Flint
2. Felonia***
3. Kazu
Top-3 most favorite MCs:
1. Jules
2. Mei
3. Theodora
*it was a very hard choice! I'm absolutely obsessed with CB, but LOTW was my very first story in the app (and the very first VN), I had been reading it since its beginning for several years and I has been loving it (and replaying once a year) for all these years. That's why I decided to put LOTW above CB.
** both of them aren't perfect. HHW is a little bit rusty and ruthlessly cut to two seasons instead of planned three (I'm still heartbroken over it), and third season of Theodora was really weak, plus its finale was rushed. But I love them both so much, HHW has its vibe, it's characters, its amazing diversity and Theodora has a BRILLIANT first season (first season of Theodora supremacy) and a pretty decent second season.
*** the example how one LI can carry an entire story. ABH isn't my cup of tea, but Audrey is one of my favorite MCs (she's after Theodora) and Fel is perfect.
A single word in one of my favourite moments in Legend of the Willow
Just a small note: As someone who reads Chinese, I found it fascinating that this Japanese scene resonated with me through a shared character. This is simply a language reflection inspired by the story.
Masamune carefully practises Japanese calligraphy:
The Japanese kanji for "Loyalty", 忠 is the same character used in Chinese.
One thing I appreciate about Chinese characters is that many can be appreciated through the meanings of their components.
The character for "loyalty" 忠 combines 中 ("centre" or "middle") above 心 ("heart"). To me, it evokes the image of a heart that remains centred on what it values.
Even as each brushstroke feels like Masamune meditating on the meaning of loyalty, it also ties in beautifully with what Mei later reveals:
I love how this scene seems to weave the symbolism of 忠 "loyalty" into Masamune's personality so naturally, without ever spelling it out.
Sometimes a single word is enough to reveal an entire way of living.

Part 2
The men 🫴
This grmpy Man who saved Mei and took care of her calling her 100 nicknames. Would only smile for mei and be a softie. Would die to protect her and make her feel safe. So much that this mf placed a knife to his damn throat with his hands tied so Mei couldn't feel vulnerable and turn into a fox when they had s*x
Legends of the willow 👏👏 Kazu 💗
Then we have this bean. Would dive face first to fight monsters and also died for her in his first life and got reincarnated again. She is his homeland and he would do anything to protect his Laia
Dracula a love story ❤️🔥Leo❤️🔥
Ladies and gentle man meet Dracula himself. Feared by 1000s but devoted to one. This man waited 600 years just to find his beloved again. Even then his monstrous form kept them away but he held through just for her. This man would freeze a river and walk past a ocean and abandon his country just for he. He doesn't say mundane things like "I miss you." He says,, "I'm freezing without you Lale." 👏👏👏👏
Dracula A love story 💓💓Vlad💓💓
Last we have this Egyptian God. Even though the whole city wanted people like Eva dead, Livius wanted to protect her and be there for her even though she lied to him. This man is tender af and becomes Eva's sun in her darkness. He is a gentleman and will not lay a finger without Eva's permission though he is Handsome af. This man makes Eva the HAPPIEST woman.
Song of the crimson Nile
🫶🥺Livius🥰💞
With that I conclude
Kazu and Mei 🍂
