50k run.
DONE.
Some little snapshots from today!
1) It’s never too cold for a smoothie for breakfast (real feel of 17*F this morning)
2) My brother and sister-in-law are expecting their first child in late July. They just found out it is a boy! This is the start of the baby blanket I’m making for him :3
3) Super easy recovery run this afternoon because my legs were feeling like garbage today! The recovery run actually did its job because my legs/body felt 10x better afterwards. Finished out the week at 30 miles and the month at 118. I’m really really loving running these days!
Nerdy librarian look for an all day IB meeting at Central Office, and a beautiful afternoon run. 😊 not bad at all for a Wednesday!
Today’s Run
I ran 4 miles today but didn’t take any pictures. I just needed to run about some things and it was warm and sunny today.
First 10k in a long while. And what a special occasion. I was given my SIL's number and registration because due to unforeseen circumstances she couldn't make it. Thanks action inadvertently allowed me to run for the first time with both my dad and my brother. They have said how I rubbed on them the running bug and even though I'm yet to go back to my old days it was an awesome experience.
10k training W1D5: 35 minute tempo
Yes hi hello, I KILLED this. Training plan called for 5 minutes easy, 25 minutes slightly slower than race pace, 5 minutes easy. I was planning to run 4:50/km for the main part, but I ended up averaging 4:40 and feeling pretty good. After the first few minutes, I was right on pace and barely had to adjust. Feeling pretty confident and great!
I have officially decided to start an 8 week speedy 10k training cycle this coming Monday! This morning's 7 x 400 m workout was extremely encouraging leading up to that. I felt DISGUSTING when I first got up, but the whole run actually felt pretty good! I don't look at my pace during these workouts and just run by feel, so I was extremely pleased to find out that my intervals got consistently faster throughout. My 400 metre times were 1:49, 1:50, 1:45, 1:46, 1:42, 1:41, 1:39. Taking a full ten seconds off between my first and last intervals feels like quite a victory for me. Can't wait to keep building speed.
After my run, I got on a bus back to my hometown. Had a very pleasant, chill bus ride and now I'm spending the next three days with family and friends.
