Evergreen Pumpkin Run 10 Mile | Jacksonville, Florida

This was the first time I hit double digits. It was hard and rewarding, and one of the best experiences of my life. Its amazing what happens when you push yourself one step further than you think you could.

I'm finally not sick again!! Why why why do I get so sick so much lately?! Anywho, I went 10 whole days without running 😳😳 I slowly got back into it yesterday with 1 mile, but I did 2 today and felt great. I might just dive back in for Nov. My 1st 10k is the 12th.

Well that was f*ckin disappointing. I know it’s not the race organiser’s fault, but there was fog which made them decide to cut the race course short.

From 5 to 1.6 km. I literally spent more time waiting around after I had got my race number than I spent running.

I heard some people talking about how it normally is - there are normally wooded sections where people jump out at you and it’s normally quite scary. I suppose because the start and finish sections were along the same section of path they thought they wouldn’t be able to have us do more than one ‘loop’.

I still felt like crying from disappointment when I was finished.

So...until yesterday I hadn’t run in two months D: I went for a gently 5 km to see if I could still run...

because I have a race tonight! A Halloween night time race where I have to wear I head torch and they say I’ll get scared.

Having done no training I’m not expecting to do well, but it’ll just be fun to do I think.

MCM PLUS ONE

I definitely aggravated/injured some stuff. I'm guessing the piriformis and the IT band. Good news is I have lots of time to fix these and my PF. For now, limping is only a minor inconvenience. I love the MCM! It's extremely well run and organized. The Marines stationed throughout the course were unfailingly encouraging, respectful and helpful. The course is beautiful and interesting. Most unique was the strong vibe of honor, duty and remembrance. I hope to actually run all of it someday. Thanks for the kind and encouraging messages. This is a great and powerful little community! Happy Halloween everyone!

MCM THE RACE

Life is full of surprises. This race was one of them for me. Everyone here knows that going into the race my concern was my plantar fasciitis. The PF hurt. Every. Step. For 26.2 miles. But that wasn't the issue. I ran the first 13 miles in 2:01 and that was easy. Problem was that my hip and knee on the other leg blew up around mile 16. I'm guessing that my form was out of whack due to subconsciously "protecting" my PF. By mile 18 I couldn't run. Literally, couldn't run. I walked a bit and when tried to run on the bridge I fell over. Embarrassing. I couldn't support my right side against any lateral force. I shuffled to mile 20 when all running ceased. Decision time. DNF or walk the last 6 miles? Here's the deal. I did not travel across the country to quit. Nor was I going to quit in my last race before my surgery. So I walked/limped. EVERYONE passed me. You want positive splits? How's 2:01 for the first half and around 3:50 coming home? I'm more proud of this race than i am of any race I've run. I can't say I ran towards the pain but I didn't shy from it. I ran across @busybeerunningfree late in the race and that was wonderful. We consoled each other over the last hard miles. She's a total champ in my book.

Half Marathon

Completed my very first half marathon today, on my birthday! I'm so glad to have completed it, no more worrying about training and stressing that I won't manage. Time to relax and just enjoy autumn running for a while☺️
