Hey, Siri? Play Britney Spears "Oops I Did It Again"
Lovely course aside from some absolutely brutal elevation at mile 1 and again at mile 4, but I survived it and somehow ran much faster than I thought I could on vibes alone.
My official chip time was actually 54:58, so I came in just 2 seconds under my 55 minute goal!
Although I won my age group, I finished 3rd overall for women. One of the ladies who handed me my ass is 70 years old, and I'm lowkey obsessed with her. What a beast.
Main thing I learned from this race? I could definitely be pushing myself harder in the 5ks. I can't believe I sustained 10:07 in the final mile. Now, I've got a month till my next race to really buckle into this new mindset.
Miami GP <3 KA12 fans stay winning forever and ever and ever.
I am one of many that looked away for three seconds at the end and watched Leclerc go from 3rd to 6th. But hey, George doing marginally better is a win everytime
A fight for P5 is not the russtappen battle I was promised but you know, I'll take what I can get
Yayayayayayay Colapointso! I am pleased as punch I love that guy.
We stay winning, I have been inspired to do some writing (I AM COMING ASKBOX ASKERS I SWEAR I JUST NEED TO PASS MY EXAMS FIRST)
Ok, well that was something wasn’t it ngl when I woke up for the race I had a feeling Norris would DSQ, but I didn’t want to call it or else it wouldn’t happen, you just have to believe me
Overall - I'm feeling the same as I felt after Mexico, cautiously optimistic
Lets talk about the non-mclaren mess for a moment…
Lewis from p20 to p8, in the sf-25, masterful, it was beyonce’s magic working from his garage clearly
Kimi’s 50+ stint on one set of tires, you can join Esteban in this specific corner of hell. But despite everything p17 to p3 is amazing coming from a Rookie’s first season
And George driving without steering, well it seems he can only get wins when his car is falling apart around him, Mercedes fix yourself
Lando attempting a Verstappen move and failing embarrassingly, I think the DC quote is the best way to describe it “Lando Norris tried to play Max Verstappen at his own game, the problem is that he doesn't know the rules of that game" EAT HIM UP DC
Alex, jesus christ, no radio then a box to retire, Williams don’t deserve you, although after the radios he’s been getting all season I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled the radio out himself
The Lawson-Piastri incident ruling just shows that we need more consistency from the stewards, maybe have some that travel to every race with the others subbing in and out, as it was ruled no penalty while the same thing happened last race and it was a penalty.
In the hours of waiting for the FIA’s decision of the McLaren boys Aston Martin thought it was a good time to slip in to announce they fired the CEO. either they wanted to get it out under the radar while everyone was distracted or they pre planned it and the timing didn’t work out. I’m inclined to believe the former. And the rumors of Horner's return. PLEASE GOD NO
Ok now onto the mess that is McLaren racing.
The way a double disqualification was better than the race results is mad.
Before the race
NOR (390) - 24 - PIA (366) - 25 - VER (341)
Post-race results
NOR (408) - 30 - PIA (378) - 12 - VER (366)
Post-disqualification results
NOR (390) - 24 - PIA (366) - 0 - VER (366)
The vibe of the fans post the race, before there was whispers and then shouts about the disqualification, was that this sealed the championship, with sky commentating that Piastri would need to outscore Norris by 5 points or Max outscores Norris by 17 or else the WDC is decided in Qatar. The fans of both Verstappies and Oscarinas were quite depressed and resigned.
However I think this has given Oscar his second chance, just like in Australia, or like the new moon represents, rebirth - a second wind. There are 2 races and a sprint to go and Qatar has always done well by Piastri. And I think other than Norris DNFing or DSQing alone and him winning (taking the championship back), this is the best outcome. It wasn’t like he was on the podium and had the trophy stolen from him because of the team. He didn’t have to go through all the press, fireworks and champaign of a podium finish only for it to be stolen. And I think he knows this, with the photo we’ve all seen of him leave the McLaren Hospitality, he was smiling and Webber was laughing, he knows this is the second chance at life in the WDC and the difference between him and Webber compared to every other member of McLaren photographed is so funny, Stella looks depressed, and his teammate, the one on podium, the one who talked all tough in the post race interviews, the one who won the trophy, left the paddock with a hood covering his head and not looking happy. To get speculative, this will hit him hard, this could be the change in tides in the championship that he thinks should have been his after today. This could have shaken his faith in the team, since it was their fault he got disqualified.
While everyone’s posting about the Ver5tappen and still downplaying Piastri’s chances despite them sharing points totals. Never count him out.
Race 1 of the final triple header, damn, its going to be a long 2 weeks
Race so wild I had to colour code it. Anyways the quality is terrible so you'll have to click to see a better image.
Of course I missed some stuff (like Ocon having a tear-off in his air duct or whatever happened with Alonso) but I ran out of space so this is all I could get lol
The race was fine, I guess. It's quarter til 1 am, Max is P1, and I've had three martinis. SO I'm not getting too in-depth here.
Astonishing that Mercedes kept Antonelli out on 48-lap-old hards to keep Oscar out of George's ass. Also astonishing that Oscar couldn't get past Kimi. Good defending from the latter, but MAN.
Was really hoping for a papaya double podium today...it was possible, but Mercedes strategized hard and pulled it out even with George's steering issues. So credit where credit is due there.
Lando can still clinch it in Qatar, if my tipsy math is right. But at least not in the sprint (which would be boring, sorry).
There does seem to be a bit of concern at the moment of posting that Lando was low on fuel at the end of the race and may not have the required 1 kg of fuel for analysis, but most of what I've heard is that is *should* be ok. The post will update if this ends up being an issue (but praying I don't have to.)
And also! Congratulations to Doriane Pin for winning the F1 Academy championship!
Update 1: Lando's fuel doesn't seem to be the issue, but both cars are being investigated for too much wear on their skid plates due to running too low of a setup. The penalty for this has historically been disqualification. This would be a HUGE unforced error committed by the team that would not be the fault of either of the drivers. As of 4 AM EST, no decision has been released regarding this matter.
