A: A temporal vortex has opened in the area! From the clothing of those humans, it seems to be connected to roughly 500 solar years ago!
S: Wha...Oh, those are medieval re-enactors.
A: They're what?
S: Re-enactors. People who like to dress up and do things like they were done in a past time. Armored combat, crafts, they even have full feasts and royal courts.
A: And humans do this for fun.
S: Yep. And it's also an interesting way to learn history.
A: But isn't that dangerous?
S: Well, any simulated combat has some risks, but they do take precautions.
A: No, Human Steve! I mean, if you have humans running around like that, how can you tell if a real temporal vortex opens up?!
Hi Guys, welcome back to Beginners Journey into Leather Craft here at HandMadeCP, I recently acquired a New Stitching Machine so I made a simple possibles pouch.
Pic 1 : Not all leather costs a fortune, I was gifted a bag of leather scraps for Christmas and used a couple of pieces to make the main part of the bag, I decided I preferred the suede side as my outer so cut out two pieces as shown here.
Pic 2 : Here I stitched the two sides together inside out, the new Stitch Master Machine taking just two minutes to do the job, by hand this would have taken me about an hour. Paying for itself already lol.
Pic 3 : I then flipped it so we have the suede side out as shown here, being able to slow the stitch Master right down giving greater control kept the stitches nice and neat and has given a nice even edge all around.
Pic 4 : Using a plate edge I shaped a piece of Veg tan leather for a ‘flap’.
Pic 5 : I chose to shape the flap a bit like an Axe head as I wanted to tool it a bit ‘Vikingy style.
Pic 6 : Final shape of the flap ready for tooling.
Pic 7 : wet the leather, you don’t want it soggy, add a little at a time, then, let it dry a little until almost returned to it’s normal shade, at this point there is enough water left in it for the tooling.
Pic 8 : using the dividers I made two line designs shown here.
Pic 9 : I used a Stamp pattern that I have used before on ‘Viking’ style belts and one of my favorites. You can change the design etc to your own liking , the general build remains the same.
Pic 10 : next I burnished the edges on the burnishing machine whilst the edges were still moist.
Pic 11 : The Burnishing seals the leather edges and smooth them off, there’s more that I do to darken them which will come later.
Pic 12 : Next I dyed the veg tan
Pic 13 : I used a Saddle Tan water based dye by Fiebings and then covered it in light tan antique gel and wiped off fast, then buffed once dry.
pic 14 : I punched holes all around the edge. then set gold colored eyelets.
Pic 15 : I used the Stitch Master again, this time to stitch the veg tan flap to the suede pouch as seen here.
Pic 16 : the color goes well with the suede grey color.
Pic 17 : next I punched a hole and set the line 24 snap / press stud in the flap.
Pic 18 : I took a piece of ‘round’ dark Brown thong, fitted a couple of beads and threaded through the eyelets, tied them in a single knot and ‘drew’ the sides together.
Pic 19 : To strengthen the hold of the stitched lines I added gold rivets, for strength and for design.
Pic 20 : Other than adding a belt strap this is now finished.
Pic 21 :side shot.
Pic 22 : Top shot.
Pic 23 : Side shot.
This pouch build can be even more straight forward, you could leave off the veg tan flap if wanted, I had never done one of these so this was just my choice, use your imagination, let it run wild and see what you end up with. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing this build along set, this one is easy and great for beginners, if interested there are many other build alongs in my archive, have fun. There will be more coming through out this coming year and I hope you will all drop by for a look. I’m not a professional by any means, just a guy who enjoys creating things by hand, I hope these build alongs might encourage others to give it a go. If you do please put some pics up for us all to see. till next time, Stay Crafty.

Love Historical Re-enactments? Also love US history that’s inclusive? The “Slave Rebellion Reenactment”, A group plan to commemorate the largest slave rebellion in the United States with a two-day reenactment and parade.
Playing drums, flying flags and singing songs, more than 500 people will don period costumes and march 26 miles over the course of two days from the bayous of St. John’s Parish to New Orleans’ Congo Square to commemorate the 1811 uprising of enslaved African Americans against the planter class.
Organizer Dread Scott, an artist whose work has been featured in the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, said he was inspired to create the reenactment and reimagining of the 1811 slave rebellion in part to teach young people about an often suppressed piece of American history and to help take away the feelings of shame that the descendants of enslaved Africans can feel.
“This is not a shameful period,” Scott said. “It is a great period. They are heroes and everyone should know about their example and it should influence and inform how we think about social justice today.”
There were more than 250 examples of slave revolts in the U.S. like Nat Turner’s uprising in 1831 in Virginia. (often not reported on in media at the time to prevent more uprisings from occurring)
Scott said that the march will put the spotlight on the resilience, resistance and endurance of the enslaved.“It’s not a project about slavery,” Scott said. “It’s about freedom and emancipation. The Slave Rebellion Reenactment will be held Nov. 8 and 9.
Okay ‘trial’ might be a bit of an over statement. If I were still working, making a dress in only two weeks wouldn’t be a ‘trial’ – miracle would be more like it. It’s been so long since I even considered making a costume for myself that I hadn’t even thought about it until about a week ago. Mind you, I’ve already agreed to teach a class at the upcoming event and knew full well I don’t have my…
The tip of his sword slid into the soft wet grass barely a centimeter from his ribcage.
His opponent stood over him, pushing it firmly into the ground.
He whispered with an evil grimace on his face.
“Now just stay there and pretend to be dead for a couple of minutes. Once Jim and Dennis have done their act someone will shout “dead arise” and you get get up so they can carry on the show”
