A Year in the Life of a Writer Day 49/365: 21/5/2016 Today in the US is National Readathon Day 2016, so to celebrate I have been sharing everything I've been reading today on my author Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CatherineBannerAuthor. And here's what I've read. The aim of the Readathon is to encourage and celebrate reading, especially among children and young people, so as a former teacher with a specialism in literacy this is a cause which is incredibly close to my heart. ​Join Penguin Random House, the American Library Association, and fellow readers across the country for the second annual National Readathon Day on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Celebrate the joy of reading and giving during #Readathon2016 by raising funds while joining fellow readers for a day of reading. Funds raised during #Readathon2016 will benefit the Every Child Ready to Read initiative, a program that supports the early literacy development of children in libraries across the nation. Get started and join in by clicking here. You can come join us at RPL and create a reading party. Or you can just tell us what you’re reading on our Facebook page on that day. We will put up a post where you can share your books with us!  Our “mascot” Roger the Penguin Librarian has informed us that everyone should “Keep Calm and Read!”
