Pt 1 // Pt 2
“Everyone. Please, meet my lovely wife—“ as her face came into view Ivar whispered her name at the same time that Earl Erik shouted it to the room “Y/N”
A huge smile was planted on Y/N's face, as she looked around at the surprised brothers who all in turn looked toward Ivar. Her eyes followed theirs and landed on the last man she thought she would ever see again. She had heard whispers here and there, but none that were anything concrete. Yet, there he was, sitting down, eyes pointed at her, lips parted, staring as if she was an illusion that would disappear if he blinked. Erik grabbed her hand in his and pulled her closer to the table, their thrall trailing a bit far behind her, before finding an empty seat not too far away from where they now stood. “You all know Y/N” he chuckled, as his arm settled softly around her waist. The brothers all cautiously nodded, eyes still glued on Ivar, who hadn’t said a word. This would explain all the glances at Ivar from Erik throughout the evening, even when he wasn’t talking. They had all assumed Ivar’s big mouth had just made the man dislike him. The tense shoulders and pointed looks however must have been because he knew of Ivar and Y/N, it made sense to the brothers now.
“Y/N” Ivar finally muttered again after some time of them just staring at each other. The name felt so foreign on his tongue, he hadn’t spoken it in so long, finally having accepted that he would never see her again and yet, there she was, finally within his reach again.
“You’re alive” She half laughed to herself, still not quite believing he was there. She had never kept her love for Ivar a secret from her husband. She had told him all about their friendship that blossomed into love. She had also told him of his choice to leave her and of his untimely death. She turned in Erik’s arm and tiptoed to kiss his cheek. “Why don’t you go get your wife something to drink, hm?” she smiled at him, love evident in her eyes. Ivar felt his jaw clench and his hand gripped his mug so tight, his knuckles began to lose color. That kiss should have been his, that smile for him and the child that was in the arms of the thrall should have been theirs.
Erik grabbed her head affectionately and pulled her in, to place his lips on the top of her head “Whatever my wife wants.” He playfully bowed at the brothers and made his way to find mead for her. They had both heard the rumors that spread. The cripple son was alive, but Y/N had convinced herself and Erik that there was no way it could be true, Aslaug was never wrong. The saxons had killed Ragnar, why would they spare Ivar? Erik had prepared himself, for if the rumors were true, he wasn’t sure what it could mean for his marriage when his wife saw her first love again. He knew that the request for drink was really her asking to be alone with him and he couldn’t deny his wife that. If his first wife had suddenly appeared before him, he’d be very conflicted on what to do, a feeling he wouldn’t wish on anyone and yet here was his Y/N faced with an impossible choice. He truly did love her and he knew he could never be angry at her if she chose to leave him for the man she thought was dead who was now sitting in front of them clearly still as in love with her as before.
Ubbe let out a cough, trying his best to ease some of the tension that was clearly building. “You look really good,” he smiled as he stood up and pulled her in for a hug. She hugged him back, but her eyes still kept making their way to Ivar, who hadn’t moved.
“Definitely not just an ordinary woman huh Ivar” Hvitserk teased as his elbow dug into Ivar’s side, his eyes looking her up and down.
“Shut it” Ivar growled for only Hvitserk to hear. Hvitserk simply chuckled and shook his head as he stood, making his way over to Y/N.
“My, how you’ve….” his eyes roamed her body once more “changed” She let out a small laugh at his observation before she pulled him in for a hug as well.
“I’ve missed all you idiots.” She hadn’t in fact changed much, except maybe the length of her hair. She had been surrounded by beautiful princesses and thralls and exotic slaves her whole life with the Ragnar sons; her confidence hadn’t always been as strong as she let on. She’d wear looser dresses, hair just pulled back simply, most skin hidden from the world. Her dresses were more fitted now, her shoulders out, her hair in intricate braids. Erik had slowly pulled her out of her mind, showing her how beautiful she truly was, he made her feel all the time what Ivar made her feel when they were together. She hadn’t realized how much her confidence could change how people saw her on the outside and for that she was grateful to Erik.
“You missed one more than the rest of us though, right?” Hvitserk teased, but before she could respond Sigurd ran over from somewhere behind her and lifted her by the waist. She gasped as he yelled her name, spinning her around. When he finally put her down he pulled her into a tight hug and began asking her a plethora of questions of where she had been, how she met Erik, how she suddenly looked so different etc. Bjorn had never been around much for him to feel anything about her return. However, he knew this could put a damper in his plans; she was, after all, the one that got away for Ivar. He saw as she excused herself from the brothers, to make her way to Ivar.
“Hi” she whispered, eyes on him.
Ivar responded softly “That’s all you have to say? Hi?” his voice getting a bit louder with each word.
“I don’t know what to say, Ivar. I--” He could see the tears in her eyes and how she tried to fight them back, he instantly softened, leaning forward and resting his hands on the table between them.
“Say that he’s lying. That you’re not married. That you waited for me or that he forced you into marriage and that you’re here for my help” he pleaded softly with her, trying to keep the conversation low enough that his nosy brothers couldn’t hear everything. Bjorn however, was paying very close attention to them. He could not let this reunion ruin his plan to get Erik's army.
She opened her mouth once and then quickly closed it as her hand reached up to wipe a tear that had fallen. “I thought you were dead” she managed to squeak out. She moved forward some more and let her hand rest on his “I thought I had lost you forever. Your mother, she had a vision--” she stopped talking when she felt Ivar pull away at the mention of his mother. “I’m- really sorry about the loss of your mother”
“Murder” Ivar spat out “the murder of my mother.” Y/N simply nodded, not wanting to anger him further.
All those nights she spent talking to the stars, in the hope that her voice would reach Ivar in Valhalla. All the nights she spent crying and mourning his loss. They were all for nothing because Ivar was alive. The love of her life was sitting in front of her and she still couldn’t believe it. “Can we talk? Away from all of this? Please” as she mumbled toward him, her thrall came toward her with a crying toddler. Y/N quickly took him and rocked him while softly singing him a song. He settled quickly in her embrace and Ivar stared at them with both anger and awe.
“You always wanted to be a mother” He chuckled dryly, “guess you wasted no time in starting a family huh” he shook his head as he downed the rest of the mead in his mug. At this point the brothers had all scattered, not wanting any part in whatever blow out was about to happen, all the brothers except Bjorn.
She went from smiling at the baby in her arms to frowning at Ivar. “You left me. You don’t get to be angry. You chose” she tried to keep her voice low and away from the thrall who didn’t need to know her business, but she let her anger get the best of her and knew she had been louder than intended. Placing a kiss on the child’s forehead she handed him back to the thrall. “You two can retire for the night and please put him to bed, I won’t be long.” Once she had made sure the thrall had made it out she turned back to Ivar. There were no words to explain all the emotions that were swirling inside of her. Ivar had been her first love, her true love; she had thought she lost him and that he was gone forever. She had found love in Erik and his son and they had been so happy and now that was all crashing down. All she could think was how the gods must be very bored that they are playing jokes on her here in Midgard. They were mocking her and she was at a loss at what their plans for her were. She had caught Bjorn staring as she looked around the hall and he hadn’t looked away, there was no shame, on the contrary; it felt like he wanted her to know that he was listening. She had also locked eyes with Erik briefly who was standing on the opposite side of the room now, speaking with someone, she could see he was trying to give her privacy but his worried eyes would look every now and then to make sure she was okay. Finally her eyes found Ivar’s full of both hate and love, she had known him long enough that she could feel every emotion that he denied himself. “You’re right.” She made her way around the table, plopping herself on the chair that Hvisterk had occupied not too long ago. She made a point of turning her chair to face him, much closer to him now. Her hands rested on her laps, playing with her skirt nervously. She couldn’t believe that after everything they had been through he still made her feel so nervous. He stared at her hands for a second before looking up at her face which was down turned as she stared at her hands “I did always want children and a husband. A family to call my own. If I recall correctly I begged you to provide it for me and you,” she let her eyes move over his face and look into his eyes “you left.”
“You know why I had to-“
“I know” she let out a breathy laugh. “I know why you left Ivar, you don’t need to remind me.” His hands found their way into hers, fingers filling the spaces between hers, hidden by the table in front of them.
“I would raise him, you know.” He squeezed her hand and she looked at him a bit confused before realizing what he meant. He thought the child was hers. Did men not use their brains? The child was just a bit too grown to fit into the timeline he had forged in his mind.
“You mean Erik’s son?” Her eyebrow raised and she smiled
“Your son. If you came back to me I would treat him like my own, we’ll give him many siblings.” He squeezed her hands with excitement written on his face as he forgot the world around him.
“Ivar. He’s not my son. He is Erik’s son.” She kissed his hands before letting them go. “I have missed your half thought out plans though” she muttered as she felt herself relaxing in his presence once more. “His mother, Erik’s first wife, died in childbirth. They were all alone until I came into their lives.” Ivar couldn’t help but feel happiness surge through him. If they didn’t have a child together then there was nothing tying her to Erik. She could leave him, return to Kattegat and they could forget all about the lost time between them.
“So, how is it you came across beloved Erik there and gained yourself such a reputation?” He leaned in closer to her, his hand on her knee as she told him things that had happened to her from the day she left until now. She kept it mostly short and didn’t go into too much detail , but he stared at her in horror and awe nonetheless, listening to the hardships she endured and his heart grew softer for her every time she mentioned how she would talk to him when she felt all alone. The look in Ivar’s eyes, it was the look that meant he was going to do something ridiculous, something that would definitely get the attention of those around him and Bjorn knew exactly what that was as Ivar grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her closer to lay his lips on hers. Before he could advance far enough in his plan, Bjorn was standing behind him, one hand firmly on Ivar’s shoulder, squeezing.
“That’s quite a life you’ve lived Y/N.” Ivar grunted at his brother's voice. He had clearly been eavesdropping on their conversation. “Seems like you owe Erik quite a lot for all he’s done for you.” His attempt to remind her of her husband was not subtle in the least bit and Y/N could tell that Bjorn didn’t like her much, but she said nothing in that regard. He made sure his voice was loud, trying to assert some weird authority over her. She noticed Ivar glare behind her as well, before she could question what he was staring at, she heard him.
“That’s where you have it wrong Bjorn.” Erik’s gruff voice echoed as he approached them. He stood beside his wife now and Ivar recoiled from her further. “It is I who owes this woman my life.” Y/N smiled and rolled her eyes playfully at the sound of Erik getting closer to her.
“And why’s that?” She questioned, knowing very well what he was going to respond.
“You saved me from loneliness wife. You stand by my side and that of my son and my people. You foolishly agreed to marry me.” Her body was now fully turned to his, admiration for him on her face. She never thought she’d feel this happy with someone who wasn’t Ivar and yet, as she stood before both of them, she felt immense love toward them both. In this moment all she could concentrate on was Erik and how scratchy his beard felt on her skin as his lips quickly met hers for a kiss.
Ivar grumbled some excuse and all but shoved his brother away as he dragged himself out of the dining hall. Y/N wanted to chase after him but she knew she shouldn’t. He needed time to adjust to the reality that was their life now and she needed to figure out why Bjorn disliked her so much, when he didn’t even know her.
Weeks had gone by after our steamy session in Ivar’s office. I still couldn’t process the fact that he was a vampire. That ancient tale of a monster who sought nothing but blood was true. However, he had proved otherwise. Ivar didn't seem like the type of person to go around sucking people’s blood just because he felt like it. No, he was the type that when I had a problem he would make it disappear. Like Johnathan, my ex-fiancee who wouldn't stop harassing me. As soon as Ivar had found out about him, he never showed up again. It was as if he had disappeared into thin air. Of course I was relieved at the time, but now I cant help but think about if Ivar had anything to do with it...
----------------------
it was the night of the annual Lothbrok Corp dinner. Only a select few people from the office were to attend as many of our sister branches would also send their representatives. Not to mind the fact that the founders of Lothbrok corp would all be there as well, with their friends and family. This year the dinner had been set to occur at Ivar’s mansion upstate. This included a secluded area where the next house wouldnt be in sight for miles. Ivar was a man of privacy and now I could understand why. The dinner was to start in an hour and I had yet to finish my makeup. I wasn't really one to amazing at it, but I knew what would compliment my (y/s/t) complexion. As I finish applying my mascara, I take one last look in the mirror before heading out to the kitchen to find my phone and call an Uber. Taking my coat in one hand and juggling my keys, phone and purse in the other. I manage to somehow lock the door, but not before I’m met with a pair of electric blue eyes. “I..Ivar. W...What are you doing here?” I manage to say through my shock.
“You haven't returned any of my calls or messages since that night (y/n). I wouldn't admit this to anyone else, but I was genuinely worried about you.” He trails off as he says the last part whilst avoiding my gaze. “Ive just had a lot on my mind, Ivar. Im sorry.” I say looking anywhere except his eyes, knowing full well the effect they had on me. In a flash Ivar stepped away from the limousine, took my coat and placed it on his arm and grabbed my hand dragging me towards it. “Ivar what are you doing my Uber’s here.” “I gave him 100 bucks and sent it away. You're coming with me.” He whispers the last part close to my ear before shoving me inside the limo. His tone of voice wasn't all the way warm, it had hints of his icy personality in them and made it hard to breathe for me.
-------------
The car ride was awkward and filled with lots of tension. Ivar tried multiple times to start a conversation with me, but I paid him no mind. I sat as far away as possible from him, I could swear that there were times where I thought that I would fall out the door. His hands would “accidentally” (as he said) wander all over my legs, tracing patterns and ever so often trailing even higher. It took everything in me to ignore his advances, and he knew very well the effects his touch had on me. His mere touch created a pool of wetness down there and the bastard knew it. Before his hand could go any further, the view of a great mansion surrounded by nothing but trees caught my eye. “Woah, that's huge.” I said as I looked out the window. “And its all yours (y/n), if you’d just have me.” Ivar says as he turns my head and stares into my (e/c) eyes. Getting lost in his electric blue orbs I lose all sense of why I was upset at him. It’s as if it’s only us two and the whole world disappeared when I look at him. Before either one of us could act upon our feelings once again, we’re interrupted by the driver as he pulls up in front of the house. “Oh for fucks sake! Someone is always interrupting us!” Ivar screams out, startling me a little as his eyes began to glow. His sudden outburst made me want to run away, but also made me feel as if I should have calmed him down. Ivar turns to me and he just stares, no sudden movements or words just a blank stare. In seconds Ivar is out of the car and opening the door for me. If I hadnt known that he was a vampire I could've sworn that it had all been a fix of my imagination and that he truly wasnt there.
-------------------
As Ivar led from the limo inside the mansion, I couldnt help but admire the artwork and intricate design of his house. It was something truly unexpected from him. Once inside the ballroom Ivar had disappeared, I guess to greet everyone and say hello to his family. Whom I know he hasn't seen for the longest time. I however, am very overwhelmed and I think it may have to do with the fact that everybody’s eyes are on me. I don't do very well in public scenarios like this one and all the attention is making me a little sick. There was security all over the place and although intimidating I knew that I had to find a washroom as quickly as possible, so I could lock myself in there all night. The bodyguard didn't even speak, he just pointed towards the stairs and went back to acting as if I wasnt there. Shrugging it off I make my way up the stairs only to find a corridor with an exceptional amount of doors. Internally cursing myself I make my way down and knock on every door, but they're all locked. I almost gave up until I saw the double doors on the right. Obviously this couldn't be bathroom, but at this point I didn't care, I just had to find a place to stay till it was time to go.
As I opened the double doors Im greeted by an awfully dark lit room, with intricate black designs. The cravings on the bed posts and the paintings around are those of ancient nordic runes, something that led me to believe that this might have been Ivar’s room. I knew of his great admiration foe his background, he loved anything that had to do with nordic beliefs and ancient gods. Making may way inside Im transfixed by all the artwork and details around me that I fail to acknowledge the presence that lies in the corner of the room. “So, I seem you've made yourself acquainted with my room already, (y/n)” Ivar says as he walks out of the shadows with his crutches? “Oh my God, Ivar are you okay? I literally left you for less than an hour and you've already gone an injured yourself! Wait, I dont mean to sound like a bitch/ignorant or anything, but why do you have crutches? Aren't like vampires supposed to be like physically invincible?” I said all in one breath, as Ivar just cocked his head to the side and stared at me. “You honestly believe everything that the media tells you, dont you?” Point taken, all I knew about vampires were form shows, movies and books that were then turned into movies or shows. “Anyway, before I became a vampire, I was actually a viking. Hence all the nordic runes everywhere and the massive tattoo on my chest and back. My family was very rich and my father Ragnar was king. However, unlike my siblings I was born without function in my legs. Which is why I use those metal braces in the corner over there while I'm in public, and these only around people I trust.” He says moving closer to me. “Now, tell me as to what drew you to come in to my room without me, (Y/n).” Ivar says as he draws my name longer than he has to, in a very sensual tone that makes my knees tremble.
“(y/n), give in. Dont fight it, we were meant to be. You're the reason I can finally feel alive. If it weren't for you, I probably would've kept roaming this world with no sense of purpose. I know you feel this connection. So once again , will you let me take care of you?” And in that moment all senses had been thrown out the window.
Ivar closed the gap with his hot mouth against yours. You gasped as you felt the heat spiral through you, as you ran your fingers through his soft locks. Throwing the crutches to the side Ivar manages to pick you up the hips and deepens the kiss. The sensual dance between your tongue and his is soon over as you cave in to his dominance and let his explore your mouth, slowly with deliberate movements. “Ahhhh...” A moan escapes your lips as his lips move down to your neck. “Since I saw you in that dress earlier tonight, it took everything in me to not act on impulse.” Making his way to the bed, Ivar lays you gently on the back satin sheets and holds himself up as his roam over your body in admiration. Ivar then looks at you for permission as his fingers begin unlacing and unzipping your dress. As Ivar kisses along to every spot that is unveiled to him, goosebumps begin to raise along your skin. You had longed for this moment for awhile, but had denied yourself of the pleasure due to your fear. Oh how stupid could I have been you thought to yourself as you relish in the pleasure that this man brought you every time he kissed and caressed you. “You're so beautiful...” Ivar says as he touches you with reverent fingers, as he begins caressing that part of your body that is not very often explored.
His fingers begin tracing the inside of my hips as his head dips down to my flower. Ivar takes my clit into his mouth and gently bites it, bringing a pleasure that I cannot describe. My hips buck up to him on their own accord asking for more. But he holds me down and brings his face up to mine. His intense gaze had distracted me for a second as his ministrations towards my clit were over. But before I could beg him and ask him for more, it was as fi Ivar had already beat me to it. In a flash he had dipped and curled 2 of his massive fingers into my hole. Pumping them in at an alarmingly fast rate. “I..Ivar, that feels so good!” I manage to say through my moans that are increasingly louder as I throw my head back from all this pleasure. Ivar’s pace becomes steady and his lips are now focused on my right breast, kissing and caressing it as if it were his favourite thing in the world. My hands uncurl form the sheets and move towards his head caressing it and then bringing it up so that I could kiss him. This time I wanted to show him that I too cared for him. And all that fear had been washed away, this man had been everything to me the minute I started working for him and Would be damned if I let him get away. Vampire or not!
Bringing him in for a kiss Ivar tries to take control and dominate again, but this time I would be in control. I manage to shock Ivar with the lack of submission that he’s used to seeing from me. I use this to my advantage and flip us over. Trying to not hurt him in the process. I break apart our kiss and stare deeply into his eyes as our heave breaths begin to entangle with each other and become one. I slowly remove his fingers from my hole, much to his dismay. And before he could protest I place my finger to his lips. “You've shown me how much you care for me. Time and time again Ivar. Let me show you that I care too.” At this his eyes hold admiration, surprise, and hints uncertainty. Making my way down his body, I leave trail of kisses form his chest all the way down to his legs. Taking my time kissing every part of them and staring into his eyes with love and tenderness, which he mirrors in his gaze towards me. I then make my way up to his long and already hard cock. Oozing with loads of precum. Licking the excess I take as much as I can into my mouth as I wrap my hangs around the base his very thick and long shaft. Pumping and bobbing my head I can feel and hear Ivar’s pleasure. His hands wrap around my (h/l)(h/c) hair and his hips thrust forward. I can see that he is reaching his high and before I could make him cum, he pulls out of my mouth. “I’d like to cum inside you, if you'd let me (y/n)” He says as his hands pull my face into a heated kiss.
Climbing on top of him I go to position myself on his member. However, Ivar flips us around so that he is the one on top. I could only look at him in shock for a second before my eyes roll back as I feel him thrust into me with one swift movement. My hands wrap around his torso, and claw at his back from the overwhelming sense of pleasure. Our moans become a melody to my ears, but soon I can feel myself reaching that high. “Ivar.....Im gonna” “I know baby, me too.” And just like that with a few more of his powerful thrusts Ivar and I reach our edge. Ivar and I stare into each others eyes with admiration and love. My hands without thought brush the strands from his hair away from his sweaty face. “Dont leave me ever again (y/n), I mean it. Those weeks that went by were probably the hardest of my life.” He breathes out as he caresses my face and body so gently, as if he were thinking that I would just vanish right there. “I would never think of leaving you again, ever. Im your aphrodisiac after all. What would you do without me?” And without a care in the world we lied in each others arms whilst the party roared downstairs, and the host nowhere to be found.

You felt sick to your stomach. The utter disgust at being placed on a boat and taken from your homeland to areas unknown was a horrible feeling. It caused a whole range of resentment to blossom in your mind; firstly at your father. He was a king who ruled over a reasonably large area in England and in order for safety from pillages, he’d offered you up in heartbeat. And sadly that offer had been accepted. The greatest resentment you felt was for your husband to be - a filthy heathen. How could your father trade you away like cattle to a bunch of uncultured brutes? You doubted they’d honour the alliance anyway but your protests fell on deaf ears.
“We’re here my lady”, said your most trustworthy handmaiden, Rose. Not only was she a great helper, but a fantastic adviser and your best friend, thankfully your father had allowed you to bring her along, “Wear this my lady otherwise you’ll freeze”, she offered you a remorseful smile along with an extra fur coat. Rose saw the hesitation on your features, “Perhaps that would be for the best”, you answered. She tutted, shaking her head she draped the fur around your shoulders, “Without you here they’d surely kill me, I’ve got to keep you alive for my own sake”, she joked, making you smirk a little. “I knew there was a reason you liked me Rose”. She never had time to answer though as the boat docked in the station, the men who were accompanying you started to lead you off.
You were surprised when you saw that there wasn’t a big crowd waiting to welcome you, “Typical”, you muttered snidely to Rose as you walked gracefully, your head held high, “I see the heathens really do have no culture”.
Rose bit her lip to stop a broad smile from developing on her face, “Behave (Y/N)”. A young man started to approach you and your ensemble, his light brown hair was pulled back into brilliant braids. You noticed there was sparse facial hair dashed across his features. Although you thought him to be quite handsome, you kept your compose as after all he was a Viking.
“Greetings Princess (Y/N), I am Prince Hvitserk. Welcome to Kattegat”, his smile was so wide that you couldn’t help reciprocating it as if it were contagious. You curtsied politely, holding up your skirts and bowing your head, “Greetings Prince Hvitserk, thank you for welcoming me. I am surprised you know my language”, you answered, rising up. You noticed that the young prince now wore a smirk, you tilted your head but didn’t ask questions. “We learnt it from our raids”, he stated, “Follow me, Ivar is waiting”.
With this he turned on his heel, leaving you to trail behind him.
Smoothly picking your skirts up once again you followed after Hvitserk, trying your best to stay collected as now the people of Kattegat were watching you as you made your way to the Great Hall. Each step became harder like there was a growing weight inside each of your legs, you could feel the increasing anxiety becoming more and more present the closer you got.
Subtly you reached out and brushed Rose’s hand, sending her a worried glance. Rose smiled at you, giving you an encouraging nod although it did little to sate your nerves. Hvitserk was the first to enter the hall: the doors were opened for him and the heat from inside hit you like the warmth from a baker’s oven. You continued to follow Hvitserk and you couldn’t of been a few feet inside when he stopped, causing you to stop also. You watched as, (what you assumed were servants women), reached out and took the furs from his shoulders, they did the same for you.
“Ivar!”, Hvitserk suddenly called out heartily, “Your princess has arrived!”. The prince then turned to you and gestured for you to move forward.
Reluctantly you followed his instructions. You carried yourself like you would’ve back home as if you were walking in your father’s court. Your head was held high, your long (H/C) neatly framed your face, you crossed your hands and delicately held them in front of you as you coolly walked towards the young man sat on a throne, the seat next to him was vacant.
The first thing you noticed was his icy blue eyes that seemed to shine in the dully lit room. You could feel the cold coming from behind them, it was abundantly evident in his stare as he watched you approach. A blank expression was written on his face as he sat proudly in his throne, his hair was darker than his brother’s and shorter, but the braids were just as beautiful. You couldn’t deny it, he was wonderfully attractive, although this thought caused revulsion and you had to hold back an involuntary shiver. Clearly there was Pagan magic at work here, you reasoned. You noticed that he wore strange metal plates on his legs, but now was not the time to question as you were finally close to him.
“My King”, you spoke clearly, greeting him with the same curtsy you’d offered Hvitserk, “I am Princess (Y/N) of England”. This seemed to amuse him as an unsettling grin took form on his face, “Welcome to Kattegat, Princess (Y/N)”, he repeated as if he were testing out the new name. You would never admit it, but somewhere deep down, you liked the way he made it sound. “We don’t do...that here”, he gestured to your curtsy, “Although maybe we should”. You smiled politely at him and that was all you offered, you were far too afraid to indulge him in conversation.
“I am King Ivar the Boneless, I hope you find your stay here enjoyable Christian”.
This is getting so damn long, oh my. Also, in case anyone wants to be alerted, that’s oc an option, fyi.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
You had just tucked Ragnar in - he’s been very cranky and whiny- when Ivar came in, wooden box under his arm and grinning from ear to ear. “Y/N, Love, come here.”
He laid the box on the table and waved you over.
Curious, you went and were promptly shoved down into a chair. The box laid in front of you, your husband stood by your side, basically vibrating on the spot.
“What’s this?”
“A present.”
“Oh?” You let your fingers run over the lid, completely amazed by the beautiful carving. Your fingertips followed the spread wings of the falcon, who stood amidst a bed of flowers. Ivar leaned on the table next to you and watched your every reaction. Carefully you opened the box.
“What- Ivar?”
There were three knives in it, bedded on green fabric. Each one was about twice as long as your hand, flat with sharp edges, which dulled farther from the handle than you were used to. The grip was wrapped in thin leather straps, the edges covered in blood-red stitches, and ended in a ring. They reminded you of Ivars throwing knives, but his were blank metall all around.
“You like them?”
“I-” You were speechless. Never would you have thought you’d be so taken by a weapon. And then Ivar happened.
“They are magnificent, I-” You touched ones handle, feeling the soft leather under your fingers. “Where did you get them?”
You touched a hand to his thigh, over his brace. “These must have been so much work?”
“Oh, I called in a favour.” He played it off, but his ears did seem a bit darker than usual. Suddenly emotional, you got up and hugged him, arms around his middle, pressing close and breathing him in. “Thank you so much.”
“Everything for you.” He cleared his throat. “I also let the smith make a set for Ragnar.”
That made you look up in exasperation. “Ivar, he is barely teething!”
His big hand were on your back, stroking up and down, while he laughed at your expression. “He can start very early then!”
You scrunched up your nose and shook your head.
“You’re incorrigible.”, you groaned, while lifting your hand to raise it to his bicep. He didn’t seem to suspect and you used this moment to burrow under his arm and pinch the soft skin on the inside. Flinching, he caught your wrist, curses flying off his lips and he free hand rubbed at the offended spot.
You just smiled innocently.
“Woman, you are just as bad as me.”
“And whose fault is that?” You freed your arm and faced the knives once again. “You’re the one gifting be knives.”
“You said you wanted to learn.” An arm came around you and pulled you closer to the warm body beside you. “And to throw well, you need fitting knives.”
He started to go on a tangent about proper balance, the right shape and techniques. It wasn’t often that he spoke so carefree, even when the reason was such a dark one. You tried to soak it all up, remembering techniques and what he was saying about finger placement, while taking in the sight of your excited and animated husband as well.
“Bree, are you still in contact with Edgard’s court?” You twirled a knife, let the ring spin around your finger. Bree looked up from her work and put her quill away. “I exchange letters with Aethel. Lord Aldwyns wife, I’m sure you remember her.”
“She sliced her hand open on a knife at dinner once, didn’t she? And then proceeded to eat and refused treatment, on grounds that ‘her food will get cold’? If her husband was as dedicated to her as she was to meals, they’d have had a proper happy marriage.”
“Indeed. And don’t pretend you could refuse any meal the cook ever made.”, Bree chuckled. “She sends me updates once in a while.”
“Is she loyal to my brother?” Maybe…
“The only people she’s loyal to are the cook and her son.”
“Did she say anything about rumours, or strange behaviour regarding my brother?”
“She did not. But I can ask her.” Bree narrowed her eyes in suspicion. “Do you want her to spy on Edgard?”
“It wouldn’t be spying. She’d just tell a long gone, dearly missed friend about current happenings in her old court.”
You closed your hand around the knife and laid it on the table with a dull knock. “None of the Lords in Edgard’s court think of women as independent and intelligent beings. They’d never suspect her to actually be audacious enough to spy on their King and give his hated sister information that could ruin him.”
You went back to playing with the knife, pointed end drilling into the wood as you twisted it around.
Bree tilted her head and thought quietly for a moment. Then: “How would you repay her? I’m sure she’s going to ask.”
“I’ll let her and her son live, when we take down Edgard.”
It’s been a couple weeks since the attack, and your inner circle started to gradually relax. Word surely had reached the offender, but if they were wise, they’d not attempt again. However, your guts as well as your experience with men in powerful position told you, it wouldn’t be that way. There was another attack coming.
But opposed to last time, you felt not intimidated, or scared out of your wits. You had your dagger and knives on you, at all times, hidden under your cloak. You had a belt made, with worked in sheats, so you’d be able to draw them comfortably by simply reaching back. It gave you security, a sense of protection, even if a trained assassin, or just any experienced warrior could take you down in a couple seconds.
Bree had written that letter, and now it was only a matter of time, until either answer arrived or your brothers ships.
“Lock your wrist more.”, Ivar called over. “You need to be steady, so it flies steady.”
You tried again. It almost stuck, this time.
“Take a step back. If your knife doesn’t meet your target on point, you’re either too close, or too far.”
You did as told, and tried again. With a groan of frustration, you stomped over to the target and collected your and your husbands knives.
“I don’t get it. Only every other throw hits, and I am doing them exactly the same way.”
“Well, dear sister, throwing knives are fickle bitches. There’s a reason, we’re preferring axes and swords.”
You fixed Ubbe with a mean look. “Are you sure it’s the knives and not lack of patience and talent?”
You straightened up and walked back to your spot. “Also, watch your words in front of your nephew.”
Ubbes brothers just about died of laughter, sending Ragnar into a giggle fit as well. He was seated in Galas lap, who was residing on a fur on the earth. Ubbe threw an apple at Ivar, who caught it promptly and presented the most shit-eating grin.
“You are the worst influence. She was so nice and timid when she arrived, and now look at her.”
“Yes, lovely isn’t she? Gets my blood running, seeing her like this.” Now, that earned him a sharp hiss from you, and another apple, this time it hit it’s intended target.
Gala suddenly spoke up. “Y/N, maybe… maybe if you pull your arm back, like you would with a bow? It seems, it’d be more comfortable for you.”
You turned around, blinking stupidly at her. “How do you mean?”
Ivar squinted at your hand and slowly nodded. “She’s not stupid, I’ll give her that.”
He took his crutch and came over to show you. Behind him, you could see Hvitserk moving over to Gala, talking to her and, judging by the sudden redness on her face, complimenting her. You hid a grin, as you looked down at Ivars hand on yours.
“Find the point of balance, that’s where your finger has to be.”
You did, fingertip pressing against the dull edge, handle in your palm.
“Right, just like that. Now grip it, not too hard, we talked about that. And then you’re gonna pull back your arm, like Gala said- keep your wrist straight- and just when your hand is on height with your face, you’ll bring your arm and shoulder back. Good.”
His hand was on your shoulder blade, pressing slightly. “Before you actually throw, repeat the very same movement, just the other way around. Shoulder, arm, then wrist. You finger has to slide along the edge.”
You tried. And while it was better than the other tries, you didn’t hit. “By Odins balls, why!”
“Language, Y/N.”
You threatened Ubbe with the knife in your hand, before turning towards the targets.
Bjorns voice interrupted you: “Imagine it’s someone you hate. Your brother. Or Arna. Channel the hatred you felt for Ivar, when you gave birth to your son.”
You concentrated, but their voices still reached your ear.
“Who’s Arna?”
“Earl Finnrs daughter.”
“The one who tried to seduce Ivar by surprising him in his bed, right?”
“Yes.”
Hvitserk let out a harsh laugh. “Ha, good times.”
“I’d have killed her, if it wasn’t for Bree.”, you let out.
“What?”
You could feel their eyes on you.
Gala jumped in. “Bree had to block the door.” Then she raised her voice towards you. “I’ve never been happier to have hid your dagger.”
Ubbe grumbled at Ivar and his voice barely carried over Bjorns laugh. “As I said. Your influence is horrible.”
The sound of metal meeting wood interrupted their banter, and you’ve never seen gala look so smug before. You just hit bullseye.
You were in the Map Room, discussing with the Ragnarssons, when Bree breezed in, letter in her hand. “Y/N.”
You immediately understood and got up, taking the paper from her. “What’d she say?”
“Edgard is unpredictable, barely listens to his advisors. She says, he acts paranoid and rash and he and the queen haven’t been seen together in at least 6 months.”
You skimmed the letter for additional information, before you threw it on the table and pressed your hands into the cool wood to ground yourself.
Ivar stood next to you, Ragnar in his arms and looked quizzically at you. “What is going on?”
You couldn’t talk. You tried not to scream and rage, you’d only wake and scare your son.
Bree started talking instead. “I wrote a friend in court. I asked her, if there were any rumours, regarding Edgard and the attack.”
Bjorn stood up, suddenly in fighting mode and went over to her. His face was like an open book. Bree’s surely going to have a heavy discussion with him.
Ivar didn’t move, but you could feel him tense. “What is the answer?”
You simply pushed the papers to him, and pointed at a line.
My husband and Lord Barth discussed in our chambers, I was there. They say, he is going crazy from fear, due to a failed attack he ordered. I think it very much possible to have been the attack on the young Queens child.
SUMMARY: After the feast with Ubbe, and the whole drama with Ivar. Y/N is to sick close to Ubbe. What happens when the topic of Margrethe comes up and Ivar himself takes a liking to Y/N
A/N I feel I should point this out the moment, I do not view Ivar as an evil nor a villain. The man has been though an enough to explain to as why he is the way he is. HOWEVER in the story Ivar will be played out to be villain. ALSO I have a plan for this story however I am unsure if you guy will like it or not. I personally have never seen this happen with a fanfiction and really want to give it a go. What I plan to do it have two part storyline for this fiction. So those who wish for Y/N to end up Ubbe, can continue to read this storyline but those who’d like to see what may happen if the reader ends up with Ivar, there will be a storyline for that. They will both be linked in the fictions, but before I being to write them I would like to run it past you guys and get your opinions. Thank you all and I love every single one of you’s xxx

Y/N POV
The next morning I woke in a completely different position to what Ubbe and I had fall into slumber in. I woke in his arms with my face up against his warm bare chest, his embrace around me was tight enough for me to be unable to move. I couldn’t help but admire all of his features, such as the little freckles upon his cheeks and his pout when he slept. Suddenly I felt him being to move. “Are you quite okay there staring at me?” He mumbled, his voice being husky and a clear sign he’d just woken up. I chuckled.
“I’m sorry, I was just admiring the face a handsome man,” I flirted. His eyes opened and allowed for me to view the memorizing blue of them, he’d raised a brow in astonishment.
“Handsome, you say?” He questioned with a cheeky smirk.
“Yes, handsome.” I reply bluntly. I would not lie, handsome he was. If fact the most handsome that I’d laid my eyes upon, and this number being many. He just chuckled, and thanked me. “I’m only ever honest.”
“I can see.” He replied. “I plan to take you to the town, and perhaps you could show me your knowledge of this town?” He asked.
“I don’t really get an option, do I?”
“You’re right, you do not. So I believe we should get up and get ready.” He replied.
IN THE TOWN
We’d been wondering around the town for a number of hours now. I shared with him the many stories of my younger years here. I’d not lived here my whole life here however I’d lived here for a number of years for there to be enough stories for almost every corner of the town and its walls. Ubbe as he did the previous day, held my hand with a tight grip and held me close was we weaved our way thought the many people crowding the streets. I noticed the many people sending you smiles and other just minding their own business. Ubbe and I had decided to return to the church.
We entered to the church, expecting to see either of his brother’s in there, however is was empty. We’d sat down upon the seats from the feast the previous night. “Y/N, I must ask, how on earth do you know so much of this town? If I’m not mistaken Nuns are not leave nor speak, so how could you have such knowledge of everyone and their past.” Ubbe asked.
“As I said last night, I am an observant person. And you must remember I was not born a nun, there was at least 17 years before I’d joined the church, 7 of which I’d spend roaming the street day and night.” I answered his question.
“How old are you now, if you do not mind me asking?” He again asked.
“22,” you replied. “So back in your homeland, considering you are a prince, you must be married.” I boldly stated.
“Yes, I am,” He relied losing eye contact.
“I’m sure she is beautiful,” I replied.
“Quite the whore if you ask me.” Ivar interrupted. I’d not even heard him limp up behind us.
“Do not say that about my wife.” Ubbe said though the grit of his teeth, turning to face Ivar.
“Well she has slept all of your bothers and if not all of Kattegat.” He sculled with a chuckle.
“She is not a whore and she has not.” Ubbe said again almost full of complete rage. Ivar chuckled. He knew he was getting to Ubbe. I leaned into Ubbe, whispered into his ear.
“Don’t give him what he wants.” I placed my hand on his thigh.
I felt Ubbe clam under my touch. “Just breathe. He wants to get inside your head, do not let him.”
“How pathetic.” Ivar rolled his eyes. “You are just as bad as that fucking whore of his wife.”
“Ivar!” He roared. “Shut the fuck up, before I place with head with the bodies of the Saxons.” Ubbe made me slightly jump. He noticed what he’d done and grab my wrist and pulled me out of the church. He continued to pull me thought to the town until once again we’d reached the place we allows ended up. The baker’s home. “I apologise, my wife. She isn’t one I trust nor one I love. What Ivar says is true, however she is a woman with a kind heart and Ivar is clearly in anger due to fact he cannot pleasure a woman as any other man.” I chuckled.
“Who says that?” I questioned as I walked through to the door and sat upon the bed.
“Margrethe,” he said looking me in the eye. “My wife.”
“Oh, how’d you meet her?”
“It was arranged.” He replied.
“What does she look like?”
“Every other Viking woman. Blonde hair, blue eyes. In my opinion yes beautiful, however rather dull.” He stated as he sat down on the bed. He places his hand under my jaw and genially lifts my jaw to look him in his blue eyes. “Unlike you.”
“Why do you say that?” I asked moving my face closer to his.
“You are what I believe true beauty is.” He moved in closer to lips almost touching. He moves my head to side and beings to trail kisses from my lower neck, biting a few times that will with a doubt most likely going to leave marks. “Your pale skin.” He said as he kiss my jawline. “Your red hair.” He said reaching my cheek. He lend his forehead on mine. “Those eyes.” And with that he close the kiss. Our lips touched and the passion began. He pulled me on to his lap without braking the kiss. I ran my fingers though his hair and pulled on the end, he placed his hands on my waist. I began to grind on him and my grip on his hair and heard him moan. I moved my hands from his hair and tugged at the ends for his shirt, signalling for him to pull it off. He lifted his arms up and allowed me to do so. Once of my hand began feeling every curve of his beautiful boy.
Then something clicked. This was wrong. He’s a married man, for god sake! I pulled away and stopped. I looked him in the eyes are see only confusion. “Why’d you stop?” He asked.
“You’re a married man Ubbe. I cannot do this. I will not do this.” I replied. I got of his lap and crawled up the furs.
“But it is you I see beauty in, not her.” He stated.
“I do not care. You gave your word to your wife and I do not want to take part in breaking that vow.”
He rolled his eyes at my words. “Whatever, I’m going to sleep now. Goodnight my love.” He replied bluntly. I swear that man will be the death of me.
“You must think me a fool” You replied with an amused scoff. “Last I checked, you bestowed numerous gifts upon Eiriana without my approval. So, I am within my rights to accept some as well.”
“From Alfred or Harald, I would take no issue. But not from Värro!”
“Oh? And why is that?”
“Because, Y/N!” Ivar seethed. He then stopped to compose himself, knowing that you were purposely riling his anger. “You are feigning innocence. But even you must notice the way he lingers and stares. He’s like a dog”
Rolling your eyes, you allowed the Thralls to remove your surcoat. But the truth was, Ivar was right. Prince Värro was an attractive and overtly flirtatious young man. And like his cousin Hallmund, he was also quite fearless; even in Ivar’s presence. For that reason, he never shied away from giving you attention.
“Ivar, you have harassed me long enough this evening. I wish to get undressed, so please depart from my chambers.”
“As you wish. Push your husband away anytime he calls upon you. But promise me one thing before I go. That you will not keep that man’s gift.”
“I will do no such thing.” You replied with a shrug of the shoulders. “Because last I checked, I am the Queen of Kattegat, not some lowly Thrall.”
You then walked at Ivar’s side as he made his way to the door. But as always, he was determined to have the last word. So, he again insisted that you refuse the necklace. Adding that it would not only be improper to keep it, but would encourage Prince Värro’s obsession. An assertion that brought a wicked smirk to your face. Because the truth was, you had already shared a kiss during his last visit to Norvland.
“Ivar, I will not talk about this stupid topic again. I’m keeping the gift and that is my final word.”
“I forbid it!”
“Forbid?” You repeated between a stifled giggle. “Then I hope he brings more things to add to this one.”
“Y/N! You forget whom you are--------”
“I’m tired and grow weary of this back and forth. But if you want someone willing to cower at your feet, go in search of your second wife!”
