SUMMARY: Steve comes over to help you when you're sick.
A/N: Sorry this is kinda short
Your POV:
Steve knew something was up when you hadn't been to school in 3 days. You had also stopped calling him and stopped answering his calls. Of course, you didn't mean to ignore him, you were just so sick that you couldn't get out of bed to answer the phone. By the fourth day, Steve decided he would go and check on you. He had been worried about you for a while now and was starting to worry that maybe he had done something wrong.
He drove to your house and knocked on the door. When he got no answer, he decided to knock again. You groaned as you tore the blankets off your body and slowly dragged yourself over to answer the door. The knocks kept coming. When you finally answered the door, you were relieved to see it was only Steve. He looked you up and down. Your unbrushed hair fell messily against your shoulders as you stood there in your pajamas.
"Are you okay?" He asked, raising a brow. You were barely able to keep your eyes open at this point. The walk from your bed to the front door had already exhausted you. You nodded groggily as you turned back around to go back to bed. Steve quickly followed you inside, shutting the door behind him. "Y/N, are you sick?" He questioned. You hummed in response as you flopped back into bed and shut your eyes. He gently rubbed small circles along your back as he spoke softly, "Y/N? Baby? Let me help you."
"Mm– I'm okay–" You murmured, just wanting to go back to sleep. Steve looked around at your messy room. There were tissues everywhere and clothes thrown on the floor. He placed his hand on his hips and sighed.
"Alright, come on, up you get," He started. He nudged you slightly and you groaned in annoyance. "Come on, baby, I'll run you a bath." He moved towards the bathroom and turned on the taps, allowing the warm water to fill the bathtub. As it slowly began to pour in, he picked up a few of the tissues that surrounded you and tossed them in the bin. He placed his hand on your back and shook you gently, "Y/N, wake up." When you didn't respond, he gently wrapped his arms around you and picked you up.
"Steve–" You wined. He let you down inside the bathroom and you held onto him to keep your balance. He slid your jumper down your arms and off of your body, throwing it into the hamper nearby. When he reached for your shirt, you stopped him. "Steve–" You groaned, your eyes barely staying open. "You'll see me naked." He moved back and looked at you with his eyebrows raised.
"Baby, I see you naked all the time." He said. "It's nothing I haven't seen before, just let me help you." He moved his hand back onto your shirt and began lifting it.
"But I look gross." You whined in protest, leaning your head against his shoulder when it got too heavy for you to keep up. He rolled his eyes.
"Remember when I was sick?" He asked. He began slowly taking off your sweatpants, holding onto your waist as he helped you step out of them. You nodded in response to his question. "Yeah, well, I literally had snot dripping out of my nose and you still helped me." He added. You let out a soft laugh as you remembered. He looked at you, watching your sleepy smile. "Oh, is that funny to you?"
"Yeah." You giggled. Once you were fully undressed, Steve slowly helped you get into the bath. For a bit, Steve had to sit beside the bath to make sure you stayed awake and didn't drown. But once you woke up a bit more, he began cleaning up your room for you. He knew having a messy room would stress you out and he didn't want you to feel any worse than you already did. He put the dirty clothes in the hamper, picked up all of the tissues and picked out some comfortable pajamas for you to wear when you got out of the bath.
After your bath, you got out and wrapped yourself in a towel. You slowly put on the new clothes Steve had got out for you and fell back into bed. Steve lifted the blanket and placed it over your body to keep you warm.
"I'm gonna go make you something to eat, okay?" He said, leaning down to kiss you on your forehead. You hummed in response. As he turned around to leave, you grabbed a hold of his hand, making him turn to look at you.
"Thank you, Steve." You cooed. He squeezed your hand tightly before letting it drop and headed out to the kitchen to make you some food. You curled up under your blanket, feeling its warmth as you sighed. You were so glad to have such an amazing boyfriend like Steve. You thought about your previous relationships, they never looked after you like this.
After a few minutes, Steve came walking in with your favourite time of sandwich. He helped you to sit up in your bed. His quick reflexes lifted a tissue up to your nose as you sneezed, obviously not wanting you to sneeze on your food.
"I'm sorry." You groaned, scrunching up your face as you were upset and embarrassed.
"It's okay baby, it's what I'm here for." He joked. He placed the plate on your lap and moved around the bed to sit beside you. You slowly ate your sandwich, trying hard to keep your tired body awake to finish it.
When you finished eating, Steve took the plate from your lap and took it back to the kitchen. He crawled back under the covers and pulled you into him. You wrapped your arms around him and placed your head softly onto his chest. His chin sat on top of your head as he rubbed your back slowly. Your eyelashes fluttered a few times before shutting completely and you slowly drifted off to sleep.
Did I just write StevexJewish Reader with a wee bit of breeding smut? Why yes, yes I did. Now, do I edit it then post it now or wait until Channukah? Mwuahahaha.
A/N: This fic is for @after-avenging-hours August AU writing challenge. This is a Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes fic, when I originally took on this challenge, I had intended this to be a one shot, but after writing out my story board and all that jazz, it seemed that just wasn’t going to do. So this part is more of a Steve Rogers delio, because he’s very important to the story. So I thought I’d disclose that upfront. Anywho, I hope you enjoy! Tag list is open, so never miss a part!

Steve Rogers x Reader x Bucky Barnes
It’s the roaring 20s with a modern twist, in New York City. You have just arrived on the New York scene, and have caught the eye of notorious mob boss Steve Rogers. Little does he know, your heart his pining for his best friend and right hand man, Bucky Barnes. Do you put yours and Buckys life in danger to follow your heart, or do you let the Most powerful man in New York claim his prize?
For years he’s worked hard to build his reputation. After the war, and the death of his father, the Don, Steve had big shoes to fill, and was determined to surpass his father. And nothing drives a man, like expectations to be the best. His determination made him ruthless, and not a man to be trifled with. He built his empire with sweat and blood, and was ruling with an iron fist.
Steve didn’t have time for love, he only had love for his precious Rolls Royce Phantom, and his trusty M1911 .38 super. In fact, the only person who really knew the “real” Steve Rogers was his best friend, Bucky Barnes. Being the most powerful man in New York City has its perks, but it had its risks too.
Until the day you came along. Before you, Steve was focused, cold, heartless. But with you, he was a whole other man. Vulnerable. With you, he was finally able to let his guard down. You were a fantasy he never want to let go of. An escape from his life of crime.
From the moment he laid eyes on you, just a glimpse as he passed you by in his precious baby, he knew. He wanted you and he was going to have you. He would go to whatever lengths to make you his. The streets of New York City were bustling, as you stepped out of the cab. The street was covered in a thin, soft layer of snow, that was quickly melting away. Tucking your encrusted clutch under your arm, you pulled your fur collared coat tight across your body. Looking around, you took in the sights. The hustle and bustle of the city was beautiful. Loud, in contrary to the small town you grew up in out west, but nonetheless breathtaking.
“Miss, shall I take your bags?”
The bellhop standing in front of you, brought your mesmerized mind back to reality.
“Oh Yes, thank you.”
A white car passing by caught your eye. It was nothing like you’d ever seen before. But what really caught your eye, was the man behind the wheel. He was handsome, strikingly handsome. But there was something about him that made him feel, dangerous. When his eyes met yours, for just a split second, you felt your breath catch in your throat.
“Miss? Excuse me, Miss?”
Your driver was waving his hand in front of your face, trying to catch your attention.
“It’s going to be $6.45 Miss.”
“Yes, yes of course.”
You were flustered as you dug through your clutch. You handed the driver a ten dollar bill.
“Keep the change.”
You gave a little smile, as he thanked you for the gracious tip. As you looked to the street, the car was no where to be seen. The mystery man was gone. You felt a bit of disappointment, but something about him being gone made you feel... at ease.
After checking into your room, you sat on the soft plush bed, sighing in relief. Getting here had been exhausting, and you couldn’t wait to get some sleep, but first, a bath.
A white claw foot tub, stood in the center of the rather large bathroom. The water run slow and hot, steam rising off of the filling tub. One foot at a time, you sank into the hot water, bubbles engulfing you. Your body burst with goosebumps as you were submerged in the balmy water.
The calm and comfort sent your drowsy self, into an unintended slumber. One of your arms slipping from the side of the tub, where it was dropped, sent the now cool water splashing into your face, startling you awake.
You quickly hauled your drowsy self out of the tub, hastily drawing your body, before wrapping yourself in a satin pink floral robe.
Taking a seat on the small stool placed in front of the vanity, you began preparing your face, a little powder, mascara, and eyes lined with a beautiful blended black liner, a dash of blush on your cheeks for a hint of color. Sorting through your cosmetic case to find the perfect shade of lipstick, you settled on a dark, yet subtle red. You quickly adjusted your hair into a faux bob, as you glanced in the mirror, making sure you look presentable.
Today was as the first day you were meeting your sisters new husband, and you didn’t want to embarrass your doting older sister. After all, she had worked hard to convince your father to let you come here, the best you could do is put forth your best effort.
Rummaging through your clothing, after a treacherous 20 minutes, you had three outfits to choose from.
‘Am I going for overly classy, trying to hard, or modern?
Resting your index finger across your lip, your stared back and forth between the outfits.
Okay, Louise will disown me if I wear trousers, maybe that’s a little too progressive.
Tossing you trousers ensemble, back into your trunk, you continued on your quest for the perfect outfit.
One down two to go.
You held each dress in front of you as you pondered. The maroon velveteen dress draped nicely over your body, flowy, but snug in the right places. It hung just below your knee, keeping your appearance, modern yet modest. Yes, this was the dress. It complimented your hair and makeup best. Looking at the clock that hung on the wall, you began to panic. You were going to be late. Dammit. You quickly grabbed your coat, slinging it over your shoulders. With one last look in the mirror, you tossed your lipstick into your clutch, and headed down to the lobby.
Sure enough, there your sister stood, her new husband glancing down at his watch. Slowly, and cautiously, you approached the handsome couple.
“You’re late Y/N.”
“I know Louise. Fashion crisis.”
Your sister looked you up and down, her frown turning up into that infectious smile of hers.
“You do look lovely. Oh how I’ve missed you.” She pulled you into a tight embrace. You and Louise had always been close, you were only 13 months you get than her after all.
“Y/N, I want you to meet my husband, Walter.”
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Walter.”
“The pleasure is all mine. You’re sister has told me a considerable amount about you. We can get more aquatinted later. As for now, we must go, if we’d like to keep our reservation.”
Wrapping your arm in hers, Louise dragged you towards the car.
“Walt’s parents have great connections, and got us reservations at Delmonico’s! The real Delmonico’s.” Your sister squealed with excitement as you slid into the back of the town car.
The car ride was rather short, when you pulled up to the rather tall building. It’s facade was breathtakingly beautiful.
“Isn’t it just gorgeous?” Louise was trying to keep her composure, but you could tell she was freaking out internally.
“It’s stunning. I can’t wait to see the inside.”
You were seated across for Louise and Walter, at a small table near the middle of the bustling restaurant. You were halfway through your meal, when you saw, you nearly choked on your food.
“What’s with you Y/N? Eating to quickly, as usual..” Your sister chuckled at your expense. Following you eyes can she too, spotted the handsome man. He was dressed proper, dark navy blue slacks, his jacket tucked behind his arm, exposing his suspenders and ivory colored collared shirt. His blonde hair was slicked back, drawing attention to his vibrant blue eyes, and clean shaven, chiseled chin. God, he was a work of art.
“Don’t even look at him, Y/N. He’s bad news.”
Your sister went back to eating, as Walt offered her a bite of his meal.
“Who is he?”
“That’s Steve Rogers. Notorious Mob Boss. He’s one of the most powerful men in New York. Not one to be trifled with.” Walt explained as he took a bite of his steak.
But you couldn’t look away. Something about him... it just drew you in .
He must of felt your eyes on him, because it wasn’t long before his eyes met yours. They were intense, burning into your very soul, intense. You watched as a playful smile played on his lips. With that smile, you knew you were in trouble.
Blood rushed to your face as you became flushed with embarrassment. Quickly diverting your eyes, you brought you glass to your lips, chugging your fizzy drink, trying to keep your cool. Unsuccessfully that is, when the fizzy drink came dribbling down your chin.
“Jeez Y/N. Are you trying to embarrass us?” Louise and Walt looked at you with judging eyes, as they finished that last of their meals.
“I’m just going to excuse myself to the powder room. I’ll be back in a jiffy.” Excusing yourself from the table, you made your way to the powder room.
Leaning over the sink, you glanced at your flushed face in the mirror. You were absolutely out of your mind.
Get ahold of yourself. He’s a criminal for Pete’s sakes. The most notorious in New York!
You shook your head back and forth a few times, trying to push his smoldering eyes from your mind. Opening your clutch, you pulled out your small compact, giving your face a quick powdering, before heading back to the table. The room attendant opened the door, allowing you to make a quick departure. As you slipped through the door, you were stopped dead in your tracks.
“Hello there darling.” He was leaning against the wall, arms crossed. His eyes looked you up and down, as you took a step back. Your eyes fleeted to the floor, cheeks burning bright red.
“Don’t be shy now, doll. I don’t bite... well, not usually.” His chuckle was melodious, making your skin burst with goosebumps.
“The names Steve, Steve Rogers. What’s yah name doll?”
Taking in a deep breath, you collected yourself. Don’t act like a fool now. Play it cool.
Lifting your eyes to meet his, you offered your hand to him, as he brought it to his lips, planting a soft kiss just above your knuckles.
“Y/N. My name is Y/F/N. Now if you don’t mind, I have company to return to. It was a Pleasure meeting you Mr. Rogers.”
With your most charming smile, you pulledback your hand, preparing to make your escape, but Steve held your hand tight.
“The pleasures all mine Miss. Y/L/N. I look forward to our next meeting, and it will be soon.”
His lips met your hand once again, before letting your your and slip from his, as he winked at you. The blood quickly rushed back to your cheeks. With a faint smile, you fled, back to the safety of your sister and brother-in-law.
What a rush.
Taking your seat back at the table, you took a moment to catch your breath.
“What, were you running a marathon?”
“More or less.” Shrugging, you ogled at the decadent slice of Devils foodcake, that sat before you. Your absolute favorite dessert.
“What’s this for?”
“Well, it is your first night in the big city, and dinner wouldn’t be complete without dessert. And I know it’s your favorite.”
“Oh LouLou, you spoil me so!” You waved your hands, placing one on your chest, as the two of you joked around. Laughing ever so quietly, not wanting to draw attention to yourselves. But you could feel eyes on you, as you peered slighly over your shoulder. You caught a glimpse of the boss in the corner. His eyes fixed on you. Daring you to look away.
A man stepped in front of him, blocking your view to one another. He was tall, his dark hair was slicked back, but messily, leaving some stray hairs, but you could tell it was styled. From his profile, his chiseled jaw looked tense, as his hands were tucked behind the dark navy trench coat, he wore. Something about him, it was different than Steve Rogers... He was intriguing rather than thrilling... Taking he opportunity of his distraction, you returned your attention to your company. You could feel your heart racing in your chest, echoing loudly in your ears, and you tried your best to pay it no mind.
Louise and Walt walked you into the lobby of the hotel, as you said your goodbyes.
“Remember Y/N, don’t wander the streets alone. Ring if you need me. I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon for our shopping escapades!” With a quick kiss on the cheek, and an overly squished hug, you bid your sister and brother-in-law ado.
Lying in bed, you couldn’t help but think of the words Steve had said to you. He was antes to see you again... no, he was going to see you again... just thinking of it made your palms sweaty. You knew he was no good. Bad boy looming with trouble, but you couldn’t help but think, what if. And that handsome mystery man. What was the deal with him? Your mind was racing. The thrill of it all... Curiosity was getting the best of you, and the worst part, you liked it.

You were almost ready to leave for school, you had already packed your bag and were now doing your hair in a new way that you saw in a magazine once.
Your door was open, and Dustin stopped in front of your door “Looks nice sis”
You looked at him and said, “Thanks Dustin”.
you looked once more in the mirror before you left and took your bag.
Running downstairs, you could already hear Steve at the door.
“Ready Y/N and Dustin?” – Steve said when he saw you come down the stairs.
“Yes” – you replied with a smile, Dustin ran into the room the minute he heard Steve’s voice.
“Stevie” – he said cheerful.
Ever since the incident with the upside down and all Steve and Dustin became close and since you’re his sister you also became close to Steve.
“Drive save Steve” – your mother said popping out of the kitchen “I’ve got my eye on you”.
“Don’t worry Mrs. Henderson” – he replied “I’ll be extra safe” giving Dustin a quick wink.
The drive was quit on your behalf then Dustin and Steve couldn’t stop talking about the newest song or how the others are doing.
You thought It was kind of funny that they had become such close friends, your thoughts was interrupted by Dustin telling you that we had arrived at school.
You casually stepped out of the car and before you separated you gave Dustin a quick hug.
—
You were sitting at a bench reading and occasionally looked up to look at the people who passed by, what you weren’t prepared for was Billy approaching you.
You looked up the moment you knew he was making his way towards you.
Before you could speak Billy already spoke for you “You’re one of the little shits sister, right?”.
“Uhm … Yes … I… I” you stammered not really knowing what to answer.
“The one with no teeth right, that curled little shit?” – he replied.
A bit offended that he called your little brother out, you closed your book and slammed it against the bench “Excuse me but you don’t get to talk about my brother like that”.
He laughed a bit and touched his nose “I get to call him whatever I want sweetie”.
You stood up now standing close to him “What you want Billy?”
“You know that shit head that hangs around my annoying sister” – he said angry.
“Lucas?” – you answered him confused.
“Yeah that’s the shit face” – he said again touching his nose and showing a little bit of his tongue.
“Did he do something?” – you asked further.
“Yeah, he did, he’s still hanging around my shit face, even when I already told him to stay away from here” – he replied angrier.
You laughed a bit “Are you serious?” – he looked at you with a mean stare “just accept that they are friends, and why do you even come to me, he’s not my brother”.
“Because you’re the closest thing to that piece of shit, considering that your brother and him are good friends” – he almost yelled at you.
“What do you want me to do then Billy?” – you said crossing your arms.
“Give that shit head a message for me, that if I ever see him around Max again he’s death” – he said slightly threating and pointing his finger at you.
“No” – you said determined “I’m not going to do your dirty work and besides if you touch one of them your death”.
He laughed a bit before grabbing your wrist strong “Listen to me Y/N, you do not talk to me like that understood”.
You tried to escape from his grip, but he only held it stronger “Now tell him or bad things will happen to your little shit head of a brother”.
You grabbed his other hand with your free hand and hold him as strong as you could “Listen Billy” – you spitted “If you dare to touch Dustin, I will make sure you never see daylight again.”
“Aren’t we a brave little soldier Y/N” – Billy said mocking you and still holding your wrist.
You could feel your heart beat in your wrist and blood pumping through your veins.
“Be careful or your next Y/N, now deliver the bloody message” – Billy said before releasing your wrist.
Your wrist was pounding, you kept looking at your wrist while Billy left the scenery.
Shocked you ran towards the bathroom and when you passed by the lockers Steve noticed you.
“Y/N” – you could hear Steve call behind you, you weren’t ready to face anyone, so you kept walking towards the bathroom
“Y/N” – you heard again and before you knew it Steve had caught up with you
“Y/N, I called you didn’t you hear?” – he asked you catching his breath.
“Sorry” – you replied “Don’t be” – Steve continued and looked down for a bit smiling.
You noticed him looking down, so you immediately covered your wrist with your sweater hoping he hadn’t seen it.
“everything alright?” – he asked you confused.
“Why wouldn’t it be” – you replied faking a little smile.
Behind Steve you saw Billy pointing his fingers from his eyes to you, to show you that he’s watching you.
“Y/N?” – you heard Steve say to you, you reacted by blinking your eyes like waking up from a dream.
“Did you hear what I was saying?” – he continued with his hands on his hips now.
“I have to go Steve” – you quickly replied and turned around to run towards the bathroom.
Before you were out of reach you heard Steve call out your name one more time.
The minute you entered the bathroom you rushed towards the sink, throwing water on your face like it was magically going to wash away your nerves.
Breathing heavy over the sink you slowly lifted your head now facing your reflection, you could see that your face was red and wet from the water, a moment later you looked down at your wrist that was extremely red and blue. How were you ever going to keep that hidden?
—
It was a few days after the incident with Billy, you were home alone because Dustin was at Mike’s house playing some board games.
You didn’t have to pick him up because Steve was doing that for you, giving you the time to relax and not worrying when you had to pick Dustin up.
It was already 9 o’clock and you weren’t expecting Dustin to be back until 10, suddenly you heard knocking on the door.
You quickly opened it and found a smoking Billy on the porch, you wanted to slam the door in his face, but he was faster and pushed the door back open.
“Is that how you welcome me Y/N?” – Billy said taking his cigarette out of his mouth.
“What do you want Billy” – you yelled at him.
“You didn’t tell him because he’s now playing stupid board games with her and all the other shit heads” – he said grinning a bit.
“So” – you yelled back “If they want to be friends that’s none of your business then”
“Wrong answer Henderson” – he said with a devious grin on his face, now putting out his cigarette.
You saw the change in his eyes and started to back away.
“I told you, your next Y/N” – he said angry pointing at you.
The minute he said that you turned around and ran to the back so that you could escape through the back door.
Billy came after you knocking over some of your mother’s vases, “I’m coming for you Y/N” – you heard him yell behind you.
You kept running and finally made it to the back door, but it was locked, quickly turning around to run again Billy was standing in the door opening.
You marched towards him and punched him in the face, “better him first then you” you thought.
He wiped away the blood of his mouth “you shouldn’t have done that”
He then hit you hard in the face making you almost fall over, next thing you now he pushed you to the ground and jumped on top of you.
“I think I’ll need to teach you dickheads a lesson” – he yelled at you punching you in the face.
His fists hit you hard making you scream out of pain and calling for help.
And then you heard a car drive up the driveway, Billy heard it too and stopped for a moment with hurting you.
It must be Dustin and Steve you thought but you didn’t want them to see you like that.
Before you could make a sound, Billy pressed his hands on your mouth covering it up.
Making a hush sound with his mouth he stood up and grabbed you with him.
Still holding his hand on your mouth, he pushed you further back into the room, meanwhile you heard people stepping out of the car and mumbling about something.
The door opened, and you could hear Dustin call out your name, still stuck in the back with Billy he was figuring out what to do next.
Dustin began searching the house for you and Steve joined the search, you bit in Billy’s hand and ran as fast as you could.
When you reached the living room you bumped into Steve who was now holding you up.
“Wow easy Y/N” – he said before uncovering your bruises “What happened?” – he said next angry.
Dustin heard the encounter and joined the two of you “OMG Y/N what the hell happened?”
Not able to speak you kept looking at the place where you knew Billy was at.
“Y/N talk to me” – Steve yelled at you still holding you, Dustin saw you kept looking at the room in the back, so he slightly pulled on Steve’s sweater to point out that he might still be here.
Steve then handed you over to Dustin and quickly ran up to his car and returned with his spiked baseball bat.
“Stay with her” – he ordered Dustin and left to check out the room.
Several minutes he came back and said “No one, he must have left the bastard”.
You were finally recovered and said soft “This is my fault”
“What, no impossible Y/N” – Dustin said hugging you.
“Who did this to you?” – Steve asked you angry still holding his bat.
“Billy” – when you mentioned his name you started to cry.
“I’m going to kill that motherf*cker” – Steve yelled.
He started to walk towards the door as Dustin stood up “I’m coming with you”
“No” – Steve yelled back “It’s to dangerous and besides you need to stay here with Y/N”.
Dustin then picked you up and let you towards your bedroom where he practically wrapped you up in blankets.
“Did you know why he would hurt you?” -He asked as he was washing your face.
You nodded and told him everything that this was about Max and Lucas and that you were just caught up in the middle.
After an hour, you heard Steve run upstairs his face covered in blood.
“How is she?” – he asked breathing heavy
“Wow Steve what happened?” – Dustin asked him getting up from your bed.
“Don’t worry Y/N, he won’t hurt you anymore” – Steve said smiling at you.
“Dustin” – you said soft “Can you give me a moment with Steve?”
“Sure” – he replied and before he left he gave Steve a quick wink.
Steve walked in and sat at the end of your bed “How are you feeling?”
“Like hell” – you answered, he chuckled a bit and you continued “Thank you Steve, you didn’t have to do that”.
“Yes, I do Y/N” – he said serious “and I would do it again if it means to keep you safe”.
“Steve” – you said soft and looked into his dreamy eyes.
The moment was disturbed by Dustin who popped in his head and said, “Just kiss already”.
Both of you laughed and seconds later you felt his hand on yours, coming closer to each other.
He then pressed his lips against yours, you backed up for a moment because of the pain.
“Sorry” – Steve said soft “I can wait Y/N until your better”
“I don’t want to wait” – you said looking into his eyes, again he pressed his lips against yours.
You followed his movement through the pain, but you tried to ignore it all you wanted was him.
Suddenly you heard “Finally, I’ve been waiting for that like 3 months now”
Both of you pulled away and you threw your pillow at Dustin.

Part 1 / Part 2
Your head was pounding, as if a toy wooden hammer was being tapped again your head repeatedly. Trying to open your eyes made it worse, tenfold. Groggily, you lifted your heavy head from the soft down pillow. As you sat up, your stomach burned, bile slowly rising in your throat. Dashing to the bathroom, head hanging into the wastebin, you vowed to never drink again. after all, drinking was prohibited.
You spent the majority of your morning lounging around, feeing like death. By the afternoon, you felt a tad more human, and decided that I nice long soak would do you some good. As you ran the bath, watching it fill with steaming hot water, you washed off smudged eyeliner and the remnants of last nights night out, off your face.
You sank deep into the rose water bath, as Leadbelly played on the Victrola in the background. You hummed along, as the warmth seeped into your body. Legs crossed, your feet dangling on the edge of the tub, you hummed along with the melody.
A loud knock at the door, startled you. As you your legs slipped, your head hitting the tub before greeting the water. Water had spilled in every direction. You hurriedly made your way out of the tub, wrapping your dripping naked flesh, in a plush towel.
Another knock at the door. This time it seemed more urgent, less spaced out knocks.
“Just a moment please!” You yelled in the direction of the door, as you dashed around the room, to make yourself decent. Throwing on your favorite lavender silk slip, you tided your satin robe over top. Your wet hair, clung to the back of your neck, dampening the collar of your robe. Out of breath, and disheveled, you answered the door.
Where you expected a bellhop, A tall handsome figure stood before you. It was Steve. You felt your face flush. You were fresh out of the bath, only draped in robe, hair askew, and looking like death. Perfect. This was just prefect.
“Steve...” your eyes dropped to the floor. Just looking at him made your stomach flutter. He leaned his toned body against the door frame.
“Just checking in on you doll. You were pretty tossed last night.”
“I’m fine. Just a little sickly, and genuinely, this time!”
His hand gripped your chin, as he checked over your face. You could feel yourself beginning to blush, as your body ran hot, at his touch. A wide smile spread across his lips, flashing those miraculous perfect white teeth. Stepping away from the door, he returned with a rolling cart, topped with a silver serving cover.
“Eat doll. It will help. I’ve got to split. But eat. You’ll thank me later.” With a wink, he was closing the door behind him.
You collapsed onto the ottoman that sat in front of your bed. Pulling the try to you, you removed the lid to reveal a burger and fries, and a slice of Devils food cake. The first bite of fries made your stomach sing. He was right, it did help. A lot.
Louise finally answered your phone call, on Tuesday afternoon. She agreed to meet for lunch at the knickerbocker hotel at noon. You took your time preparing yourself for the day. As you fiddled with your hair, indecisive of how to style it, you thought back to your phone call with your sister. When she spoke, her voice was off... she seemed... nervous and a bit tense. It made you a tad nervous for your sister luncheon.
As your car rolled up to the hotel, you stepped out of the car, realizing you’d worn the wrong shoes. A thick layer of snow covered the sidewalk, crunching beneath your heels.
Once inside the hotel, you spotted your sister standing just in front of the restaurant entrance. Peeling your coat from your body, you slung it over your arm as you made your way toward her. You greeted one another with a hug.
“Shall we go in?” You nodded, as you followed your sister into the restaurant. Once you were seated at your table, drinks ordered, you finally let yourself relax.
“Thanks you for finally talking to me again.”
“I’m sorry I freaked out like I did. I was just, really worried about you. I’m so glad to see you’re okay.” Your sister looked down, clearing her throat, before continuing. “So... how was it?”
“It was actually kind of fun. I met some new people and...” your lowered your voice into a lull of a whisper. “I even had booze!” You laughed devilishly, as you relived the nights festivities in your mind.
“Y/N! What were you thinking?”
“We’re only young once LouLou. Might well have a little fun.”
Louise shook her head as she rolled her eyes at you.
“I actually called you out today to have a serious talk y/N. After having a talk with father, we believe it’s in your best interest to find a husband that’s not a criminal.”
“Louise, you can’t be serious?”
“I am perfectly serious Y/N. You can’t keep roaming the streets of New York unwed. And our father can’t continue to support you financially here forever. It’s about time you grew up.”
Your jaw dropped. This was a whole new side to Louise. She’d always been bossy, yes, after all she was the older sister, but this... this was a whole new level for her.
“I don’t know what to say...”
“I’ve arrange for you to have dinner tonight, at the ritz, with a friend of Walt’s. His name is Robert Jefferson, and he has a good reputation around here. Walt and I have put our neck on the line for you here, so I expect you to be on your best behavior.”
The look on Louise face was pure seriousness. As much as you wanted to defy her, you didn’t want her anymore upset with you. Although, you didn’t always see eye to eye, you knew she had your best interest at heart.
“Alright. Alright. You win Louise.” Much to your dismay, you agreed to the evening dinner.
The rest of lunch with Louise was awkward and tense. You both exchanged casual conversation, she asked how you liked New York, you asked about her home life, Walt’s job, but nothing truly meaningful to either of you. You felt relived when you slid into the back seat of the car. Laying your head back against the seat, you let out a deep sigh. You just wanted a nap, and a stiff drink.
Staring at a closest full of dresses, you didn’t know what to wear. How is it, that whenever you have a place to be, you never have anything to wear? You didn’t know anything about this man. Was he conservative? A man who liked classic women roles? Was women in pants too progressive for him? Ugh. You didn’t want to made a bad first impression, your sister and Walt did go through a lot to get you this date, even if you didn’t ask for nor want it.
You decided to play it safe, and settled on a long sleeve navy blue silk jersey dress. You kept your makeup simple and tasteful.
Stepping out of the elevator, you made your way toward the doors, but not before you spotted a man in a dark suit. A hat covered his usually dark disheveled hair. You stopped in front of him, as he folded the news paper he had been reading, laying it down beside him.
“What are you doing here Bucky? Spying on me?”
“Boss heard you had a date with someone that wasn’t him. Sent me to keep an eye on the situation.”
“How did he... nevermind. I forgot you gentlemen are perfect stalkers. Tell him that bud out of my affairs. This date is important, and I don’t need you or him messing it up, okay?”
A devilish smirk spread across his lips. It was the first time you’d ever seen him smile, and it was intoxicating.
“You really are a feisty one, aren’t you now Miss Y/L/N.”
As he rose from his seat, this tall frame looking down on you, you gulped, taking a step back.
“I... I have to go. Please don’t follow me.”
You hurried your way out of the hotel, knowing full well he was going to listen to you.
The snow that coated the city sidewalks had been shoveled away, leaving thin patches of snow and ice. In your rushes state, you hadn’t taken into account the conditions you were entering, as your left foot slipped from under you, sending you hurling toward the snowy side walk. Where you expected hard ground, you were met with strong arms , that were wrapped tightly around you. Bucky. His face was close to yours, his lips just inches from yours, so close could feel his hot breath dancing over your lips.
The fleeting feeling of his arm, as he pulled away from you, made your heart sink. You felt safe In his arms, a feeling like you’d never felt before.
“I.. uh.. thank you. That could have been a disaster.”
“You better be more careful Miss Y/L/N. I won’t always be here to catch you.”
“ I thought you were my professional stalker?”
“You better get going, don’t want you missing that important engagement of yours.”
helping you into the car, you held onto his hand longer than you should have. Your cheeks began to blush as he cleared his throat, looking down to you hand, as your fingers were still wrapped his. Letting go quickly, you scooted further into the car, to attempt to hide your embarrassment.
“See you around Miss. Y/L/N”
“Please, call me Y/N.”
He gave a send off signal to your driver, who put the car into drive, sending you on your way to a date you weren’t looking Forward too.
Robert was casually handsome, but rather boring. He drawled on for ages about his business in the banking world.
“It’s rather fascinating really. You wouldn’t think being a banker would be so rewarding, but it truly is.” He said between bites.
“It does sound interesting.” You replied with false enthusiasm.
“Walt has told me quite a bit about you. Now that we’ve finally met, you really are quite charming.”
“Why thank you Robert. You’re too kind.”
The dinner seemed to drawl on for ages. You were so uninterested in the whole ordeal, that you opted out of dessert, in hopes of ending it sooner. Robert walked you to your car, as snow fell on the dimly lit city.
“Thank you for dinner Robert. It was delicious.”
You held out your hand to give him a thank you handshake. He cupped your bare hand in his both his hands, giving it a tight squeeze.
“Thank you Miss Y/L/N, for joining me tonight, I had a lovely evening.” You give him your best smile, as he planted a quick kiss on your cheek, catching you off guard.
“I should go. Thanks again Robert. Enjoy the rest of your evening.” You slid into that backseat of the car, giving a final wave as your driver took off into the night.
Yawning, you made your way into the hotel lobby, drowsy from such an uneventful date, you hadn’t even noticed the man leaning against the wall near the elevator.
“You’re just going to ignore me like that doll?” You were startled, nearly dropping your clutch.
“Jesus Steve! Scare a lady, why don’t yah.”
His chuckle was music to your ears, as he leaned closer into your personal space.
“You should be more observant doll. I’ve been waiting here awhile.”
“What? Why?”
“Just checking in you doll. How was your date?”
“Terribly uncomfortable, and boring, to be quite honest.”
“If you only went out with me doll, you wouldn’t have to suffer.”
He was incredibly close to you know, hips brushing against your waist as his thumb stroked your cheek. He took your breath away.
“I-“
“You know I’m right doll.”
His lips brushing against yours made your head spin.
“Steve, we can’t-“
“Now doll, you know we can.”
When his lips hit yours, your entire body shivered with lust.. Each kiss was filled with a passionate heat, his soft lips tantalizing you to be his, a flick of his tongue beckoning you to open up to him. As you opened your mouth to him, You becoming completely lost in him. His mouth tasted like the sweets you always craved, and you couldn’t get enough. Every kiss becoming more ravenous, as his fingers entangled in your hair. Your arms instinctively wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer into you. You never wanted to let him go.
When he pulled away, your head was fuzzy. You had forgotten how to breath.
“Steve...”
“Y/N...” he was out of breath, as he whispered your name. It was the first time he’d ever used your first name, and so intimately. What was he going to you?
“You should probably go, before I lose control.”
His beautiful blue eyes were swimming with lust, desire. And you felt the same. You didn’t want to go upstairs. Your curiosity was getting the best of you, yet again.
“I don’t want to go...”
his left arm rested above your shoulder, his body hovered over yours, as he leaned on the wall to support his weight. His lips rest fractions of an inch from yours. The heat of his breath grazing your already swollen lips. He swept his thumb over the length of your lower lip, making your breath catch in your throat.
“I’ll be a gentleman tonight doll.”
With that enthralling smirk you liked so much, he took a few steps back from you, placing his suit jacket over his arms. Flutters rose in your chest, as you watched him leave the hotel.
What the hell just happened?
Sitting in front of your vanity, you stared at the face of a woman you weren’t sure you knew. You had just shared a kiss... an extremely passionate kiss, a lustful kiss, with the most dangerous man in New York City... and you liked it.
The lipstick you had worn that night was smudged in every which direction, as you examined your freshly kissed lips. Swollen and red, they were sensitive to the touch, as you traced over them with your finger tips. You’d finally had your first kiss, and it was more than you’d ever anticipated. You we’re hungry for more.
Washing away the makeup from your face, you felt the lust from the evening beginning to fleet away, as rational thought returned to your clouded mind. Panic began to ensue, as you thought of what was at stake here. Your freedom was one step closer to being null and void. God, if your father ever caught wind that you were kissing hardened criminals in the lobby, you were done for. But behind all of that panic, all of that worry, you were beginning to realize, you loved the brush with danger, and you wanted more…
Pairing: Steve x Reader
Words: 2,090
A/N: Here’s some drama and angst that literally nobody asked for and part 2 is coming along nicely if I do say so myself.
“What do you mean you’re not at the compound?” You hissed into your phone, trying to keep your voice even so as not to disturb your napping children in the backseat. The drive to the Avengers’ headquarters was long, but you were glad to make it if it meant getting to see your husband. “Steve, you said you’d be there so we could go home together, as a family. This is supposed to be your week off.”
“I know, doll, but something came up.” Steve said and he must have been somewhere remote because the call was getting spottier by the second. “S.H.I.E.L.D. needed me because there was nobody else that could do this and I had to go. I’ll let you know as soon as I get back.”
“You’ve gotta be kidding me, Steve.” You said and the stress of the last few weeks felt heavier than ever. “What am I going to tell the kids? I can’t keep covering for you.”
“Tell them I’m sorry, but I have to do this, there was nobody else.” Steve said and somehow you couldn’t bring yourself to believe him.
“That lie’s getting old y’know.” The bitterness was getting the best of you even though you knew there was nothing you could do at this point. “Whatever-I’m not doing this now-just call me as soon as you get back, okay?”
“Of course hon, I gotta run but I’ll see you later-I promise.”
“Fine. Be careful and I love-” The line went dead before you could finish, before he could say he loved you too, if he even still meant it.
“He’s not there, is he?” Sarah, your oldest at just eight years old, peeped up from the backseat. You hadn’t even noticed she had woken up and wondered how much she’d heard.
“No, sweetheart, he isn’t.” You said, knowing there was no point in trying to sugarcoat the truth. “Your dad had to go on another mission and I don’t know when he’ll be back.”
“Does this mean we’re going home then?” Her look of despair only made you feel worse.
“Well your Uncle Bucky is still excited to see you so we’ll at least get to see him for a little while. ” You said, trying to put on a happy face for your daughter.
“Yeah I guess.” Sarah pouted and you couldn’t really blame her. This was supposed to be her big reunion with her father after nearly two months of not seeing him and now it was ruined.
“We’re almost there so help me out and start waking up your brothers.” She did as you asked and started waking up your sons. They rubbed the sleep out of their eyes and peered out the window, slowly remembering where they were headed.
“Mommy, are we almost at daddy’s work?” Jimmy, the sweetest five year old in the world, blinked wearily as he peered outside.
“Yeah, but he’s not there.” Sarah answered for you. “We’re going to see Uncle Bucky instead.”
“Uncle Buck Buck!” Anthony said using his favorite nickname for his favorite uncle.
“That’s right, kiddo, and it looks like we’re here.” You pulled the car up to the entrance and parked it out front. The compound stood before your little family as you got them out of their car seats.
“Where’re my little monsters?” Bucky’s voice called out and your sons’ faces lit up. They ran screaming at their uncle and threw themselves on him, knocking the man to the ground. “You boys are getting too big! I can’t even recognize you anymore!”
“Hi, Buck, it’s good to see you.” You said once you and Sarah caught up to the boys.
“Hey, Y/N, I’m glad you guys made it okay.” Bucky enveloped you in a big hug and walked you into the compound with your kids. “I’m sorry Steve couldn’t be here, I know how much you wanted him home for the week.”
“It’s okay, shit happens I guess.” You heaved a heavy sigh when you spoke and Bucky looked at you with sad eyes.
“Come on, maybe we can cheer you up.” Bucky slung his arm I’ve your shoulder like he used to when you were an agent. “There’s a few people who want to say hi.” Bucky walked you into one of the many common areas of the compound where you were greeted by several familiar faces.
“Auntie Nat!” Sarah ran to her aunt’s open arms and scooped up your daughter with ease. “I missed you, Auntie Nat!”
“What about your old Uncle Clint?” Clint said as the boys rushed him like they did Bucky.
Clint and Natasha kept your kids occupied as you sat and caught up with Bucky and Wanda. Things had definitely changed since you married Steve and became a stay at home mom. Sometimes you missed it until you thought about how much more you loved being a mother. It almost felt like old times when Sam sauntered in and plopped down next to you.
“Hey, Y/N, I’m glad you and the kids still came up to see us.” Sam said as he made himself comfortable.
“We were practically here when Steve gave me the news and you know how the kids get when they’re in the car for too long.” You shrugged it off, tired of having to give the same lame excuse.
“I’m really sorry about that, you know.” Sam reached over and gave your had a reassuring squeeze. “I told Steve I’d take the mission for him, but he insisted that he go.”
“What are you talking about?” You gave Sam a quizzical look. “Steve said there was nobody else that could go. That’s why he wasn’t coming home with us like we planned.”
“No, Maria gave the mission for one of us to take and Steve said he wanted to go.” Sam said and he could tell something was wrong. “When I asked him what you were going to do with the kids he said not to worry about it.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” You explained before you could stop the words. “I’m so sorry-I didn’t mean -you aren’t the-”
“Whoa, it’s okay, but is everything alright?” Sam looked concerned as you quickly stood up from where you were sitting.
“No-yes we just have to get out of her and I need to talk to Steve.” You used the compound’s PA system to call your kids over so you could get them out of here.
“Y/N, I’m sure everything’s fine.” Bucky said as he watched you frantically round up your kids. “There’s gotta be a logical explanation for this.”
“I’m sure there is, Bucky, but I gotta get my kids home right now.” You grabbed your purse and picked up Anthony while Sarah and Jimmy followed you out to the car. “It was really good to see you, it really was, but we need to go.”
The kids were buckled in and already starting to doze off in the car. Their uncle had tired them out and you were incredibly grateful for it. You hesitated before climbing into the car and pulled out your phone. Almost as if by habit, you punched in Steve’s number and waited for it to go to voicemail.
“Steve, call me the moment you get this, okay? You need to call me ASAP, it’s urgent.” You hung up the phone and corralled your children inside.
The boys went to bed easily enough after spending the better part of the day roughhousing with Clint and Natasha. Sarah was the one who couldn’t just go to bed, not after everything she had seen and heard today. It made sense, she was getting too old for the same excuses you had been feeding her brothers for the last two years. You owed her more than just the same generic answer this time.
“Mommy, why didn’t daddy come home this time?” She asked as you tucked her in.
“I really don’t know, sweetheart, and I wish I could tell you why but I just can’t.” You answered in a voice that you hoped wouldn’t upset her. It hurt to tell her the truth, but Steve hadn’t made it easy on you.
“When is he coming home?” She asked and the tears that welled up in her broke your heart.
“Hopefully soon, now get some sleep, sweetheart.” You kissed her forehead and shut off the light. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
You checked on the boys one more time before you poured yourself a glass of whiskey and took a seat at the counter. Most days you were fine since you had gotten used to doing things on your own. Some days you felt like a proper single mom until you got that telltale “Can’t make it home this weekend, sorry” text and then you remembered that you had an incredibly absent husband. The sound of your phone vibrating from your pocket broke your train of thought and Steve’s face lit up your screen. You quickly hopped down from the counter and stepped outside onto the patio so as not to wake up the kids with what you were about to say.
“Hello?” You answered, the alcohol making your voice sound a little coarse.
“Y/N? Hey, it’s me-I got your message just now.” Steve sounded rushed and a little concerned and considering the message you left him, he had every reason to be. “Is everything okay?”
“Sam told me.” You said simply, trying to keep your voice even. “He told me how you volunteered to go when you told me that there was nobody else.” Steve was silent for a moment as your words sank in.
“Honey, I can explain-”
“I don’t want to hear it!” You snapped and you couldn’t hold it in any longer. “I’m tired of the same shit every single time you let me down, every time you let the kids down. You obviously don’t want to be here so-so don’t even bother coming home.” You hadn’t planned on saying the last part, but you did because you had been feeling that way for some time now. Today had just confirmed your worst nightmare.
“Y/N, please just listen to me-” Steve plead and he sounded just as exhausted as you did.
“No, I’m done listening and I am done lying to the kids about where you are and why you haven’t been home in months. I thought this was what you wanted when you married me and we decided to have kids, but I guess not anymore.” You caught your breath and managed to stifle the flow of tears for just a moment. “I’ll have your things sent to the compound since that’s where you spend all your time anyways.”
You hung up the phone before he could say anything more and you fought the urge to stay out there and cry until the sun came up, but you couldn’t do that-not with three kids who needed you. The cold autumnal air bit at your cheeks as you went back inside to deal with the aftermath of what you said. The house somehow felt emptier after that phone call and there was no way you would be able to get any sleep so you set on rounding up Steve’s things.
It took almost all night, but you had his things packed up and ready to go before the kids even got out of bed. You didn’t want them to wake up to their dad’s things stuffed into a bunch of boxes since this was going to be hard on them anyways, so you had someone from Stark Industries load it up and take it to the compound. Later on, you would get the locks changed and tell the kids that they wouldn’t see their daddy for a while, which came as no surprise to them.
This was going to be a whole new set of problems for you, but luckily you had been dealing with everything on your own for a long time now. You stopped caring about whether or not Steve would even want to fight for you anymore because it was better to accept the fact that he didn’t than to get your hopes up. Somehow, this wasn’t the future you saw for yourself when you married Captain America and yet it sort of felt inevitable towards the end. It seemed like it was just a matter of time with every event he missed or with each kiss he didn’t return.

“Alright kid, stay right here,” Steve said in a hushed whisper as he set down his muddy child in the foyer, “while daddy grabs some towels from upstairs.”
“Okay daddy!” Max, your toddler, said as he rubbed his dirty hands on his equally dirty pants. Steve dashed up the stairs, careful not to make any noise in case you came out to see what all the fuss was about.
It was a pretty lost cause from the beginning since Max was three and had the attention span of a goldfish. He wandered through the house until he found his way into the kitchen where you had set up your laptop to catch up on some work. You were quite taken aback when you saw a small muddy troll in your kitchen until you realized it was your son.
“Look mama, I'm a monster!” Max made his scariest monster face followed by a little growl and your heart almost stopped.
“You certainly are, sweetheart.” You crouched down in front of him so you could get a good look at your new monster son. “Hey where's your daddy?”
“He's over here, c’mon mommy!” He took your hand in his and led you back to the spot Steve left him. The mud trail he left would've given you a good idea of where he was, but that was beside the point.
“Steven Grant Rogers!” You shouted up the stairs of your lovely town home. A blond head poked out from the second level and peered down at you with mild fear in his eyes. You never used his full name, but more often than not it usually mean he was in trouble.
“Yeah, doll face?” He said meekly, doing what he could to defuse the bomb before it was too late.
“Would you mind telling me why our son looks like he just got done with boot camp before trudging home in a hurricane?” You said, your arms crossed and Max imitated your gesture.
“We were chasing Uncle Clint’s puppy!” Max piped up and his little face lit up at the memory. You gave Steve a look that said “oh really?” as he slowly descended the stairs with an armful of towels. “Uh-huh and it started raining, but Lucky didn’t want to come inside so I wrangled him like a cowboy!”
“I’m sure you did, darling, and where was your father during all this?” You asked Max sweetly and you saw Steve’s face instantly pale.
“Daddy was making a video! Weren’t you, daddy?” He turned his big blue eyes to his father and he hurriedly pulled out his phone. Before you could say anything, Steve pulled out his phone and started playing the video in question.
“C’mere Lucky! We gotta go inside now!” Max’s little voice could be heard through the rain and Clint was laughing off screen. “Daddy, help me catch Lucky before he gets a cold!”
“Alright, buddy, I’m coming!” Steve said and he must have passed the phone to Clint because he was soon helping Max wrangle the dog.
For a second it almost looked like they had him, until he faked a quick left and Steve slipped and fell face forward onto the muddy ground. Max was laughing hysterically and leapt into the mud puddle his dad made. The two of them looked like the walking flu as Steve tried to stand up in the pouring rain and Max threw mud balls in every direction. He obviously wasn’t bothered with the awful weather when Steve was finally able to get up and scooped Max up and ran for cover. Clint was still watching their tireless efforts from the safety of the covered porch when the video cut out.
“See momma, we had so much fun!” Max said when Steve put his phone away.
“Not as much fun as your daddy’s gonna have cleaning up this mess.” You said, taking one of the towels from your husband wrapping your son up in it.
“Fair enough.” Steve said as you moved to take Max upstairs to finish cleaning him up.
“Don’t worry, you get a bath too.” Your voice was low and playful as you whispered these words in his ear so only he could hear before giving him a peck on the cheek. He instantly became flushed and you could see the excitement on his face. You gave him a cheeky wink for good measure and then you were off to clean up your little mud monster.
@avengersimaginings requested: how about a fluffy one where steve spots you on the other side of a party and has to battle his way over to you and you get a smooch
Steve was prepared for everything but this. Faces swirled around him and he nervously ran a hand through his hair. He needed a game plan, a strategy of some sort, to make it through the night. His target was in sight, but he had no idea how to execute a plan even if he had one. All he could do was clench his jaw, square his shoulders, and throw back the drink he had in his hand knowing it wouldn't do a damn thing for his nerves.
“Pepper and I would just like to take this moment to thank you all for coming to celebrate our one year anniversary!” Tony Stark’s voice boomed over the crowd while Pepper beamed at him.
Everyone around Steve lifted their glass to toast the happy couple and he decided to make his move. He made it approximately three feet into the fray when a particularly strong hand clapped him on the back. The arm it was attached to snaked its way around his shoulder and pulled him off course. Steve was surrounded by a circle of friendly faces as they all took part in celebrating Tony and Pepper.
“Captain Rogers! I take it you're enjoying yourself?” Thor asked jovially as his arm kept Steve locked in place.
“Sure am, Thor,” Steve said politely, craning his neck to catch glimpse of you again, “hey you haven't seen Y/N, have you?”
“Y/N? Not that I can recall,” Thor said dismissively as he pulled an ornate flask out of his pocket, “but I do recall your fondness for Asgardian mead.” Steve’s eyes widened in fear as a flashback of the last time he drank with Thor hit him.
“You know what? I'm not really drinking tonight so I'll pass for now.” He quickly sipped from the god’s grip and headed back into the storm.
Again, he scanned the crowd for your face and he thought he saw a flash of your hair when his line of sight was cut off. Sharon Carter’s smiling face filled his view and he lost you in the crowd for the second time. He tried to hide his disappointment as Peggy’s niece tried to engage him in conversation.
“Hey, Steve, I'm surprised to see you here.” She said, giving him a quick once over.
“Why's that?” Steve asked, peering over her shoulder to see if he could track you down.
“Just doesn't really seem like your scene.” She shrugged her shoulders and took a sip of her drink.
“Actually there isn't anywhere else I'd rather be tonight.” Just across the room he saw you walk towards the balcony leading outside and he was determined to get to you this time. “But you'll have to excuse me.” He gently pushed passed her, his eyes never leaving your retreating form as you walked out into the cool night air.
Steve walked willfully out the same door where he was greeted with the brisk autumnal evening and a breathtaking view of New York City. What he didn't see was you. He began to think his eyes had deceived him when he saw you cut through the crowd and out onto the balcony. With his hands on the railing he even thought you might've jumped as he peered down into the busy traffic. You watched him look for you from the shadows for a moment before you finally decided he had had enough.
“Whatcha lookin for, Spangles?” You asked, a playful smirk on your face.
“Well, there's this girl-maybe you know her-who's got these eyes that when she smiles it's like they light up the whole world.” He said, reminiscing on the beauty from his memories.
“So she's pretty?” You asked, seeing where he was going with this and joined him at the railing.
“No, she's gorgeous and twice as smart. I've been looking for her all night, you haven't seen her have you? She's pretty hard to miss, but I've been missing her all night.”
“I think I saw her inside,” You said feigning thoughtfulness and turned to leave again, “let me see if I can find her-” Steve grabbed your wrist and swept you off your feet when he pulled you back to him.
“Ha ha, very funny.” He said as you giggled at his touch. You loved it when he held you close to him like that and you'd been waiting for it all night.
“Isn't it nicer this way,” You said as he began to sway back and forth to the music that wafted out from the party, “kinda feels like you earned it.”
“No, not even a little bit.” He moved you in slow circles and his body radiated heat so you didn't even feel the cool breezes.
“Well you have me now.” Your voice was low as you looked up at him through your long lashes. “What are you gonna do now.”
He stopped mid step and tilted your chin up, pulling your lower lip down with his thumb. Slowly, almost painfully slow, he lowered his lips onto yours and warmed you up from the inside with his kiss. In truth, it had only been a few hours since you saw each other, but it felt like forever when you were away from him.
