I find consistently that I am really bad at skimming. I can either read a text in full and encode it (I am a very slow but methodical reader) or basically waste my time and encode none of it by trying to go quickly.

I think when I put the time in my memory is quite good, and I take notes pretty compulsively to boot, but so many of my classes expect me not to put effort into remembering every detail, just skimming, I don’t have time to discern what’s important and what isn’t and get through all the reading. And like, for good reason, obviously not every detail is going to be worth remembering, but that isn’t how I function. So I end up like picking 4/5 of the readings and taking a while to really dig into them and just not reading the last fifth.
