The Bouman-Stickney Farmstead (@boumanstickney) in the Stanton section of Readington Township, #NewJersey. The site is home to a 1741 Dutch #stone bank house, a restored 19th century double corn crib, and a restored 1820 New World Dutch Barn. The home was built by #Dutch homesteader, Thomas Bouman, who purchased the property sometime before 1740. The house stayed in the Bouman family until about 1855. In 1935, Broadway playwright and producer Howard Lindsay purchased the house and surrounding property as a gift for his wife, Broadway and movie actress Dorothy Stickney. Ms. Stickney and Mr. Lindsay used the house as a weekend and vacation retreat until Mr. Lindsay's death in 1968. The house and surrounding 68 acres were purchased by Readington Township from Ms. Stickney in 1997. #nj #njhistory#readington #readingtonnj #historygirl #SpreadTheHistory #architecture #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #americanhistory #ushistory #thisisnj #jerseycollective #igersnj #njspots #journeythroughjersey #visitnj #hunterdoncountynj #historicsite #boumanstickney #farmstead #farm (at Bouman-Stickney Farmstead) https://www.instagram.com/p/BuC-pzln_OO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7az4olub5v8y
