Can anyone reccomend some good fiction to read to my kiddos at bedtime? Our all time favorite book is Katherine Applegate's Crenshaw, but just finished On These Magic Shores by Yamile Saied Mendez which was AAAAAMazing! Since then I've purchased a few other books that ended up being total duds, one that was too slow to start and the other that cursed so purposely I basically had rewrite the dialog as I read it. Non-fiction books, such as this one are also great to share with young readers. This series, Little People, Big Dreams, is brilliant. The text is age appropriate but also not too heavy for reluctant readers. We love the gentle illustrations in this Jane Austen book and each book in the series also has a timeline at the back of the book. I've shared this and others in the series over on my blog.
